Chapter 61: One Piece: A Side Story – The Forgotten Isle (Part 61)
The Thousand Sunny glided smoothly over the calm waters, the eerie tension of the Forgotten Isle now a distant memory. The crew gathered on the deck, their eyes focused on the ancient map that lay open on the table before them. The symbols glowed faintly under the sunlight, as if urging them forward.
Nami leaned over the map, carefully adjusting her navigational tools. "We're heading into completely uncharted territory. The map shows no familiar landmarks, no known islands—just open sea and danger."
"Sounds like fun!" Luffy grinned, stretching lazily as he leaned back. "Let's see what's waiting for us!"
Usopp shivered. "You say that now, but you weren't the one getting chased by ghostly guardians back there! What if there's something worse out here?"
Sanji flicked his cigarette into the sea and shrugged. "If there is, we'll handle it. We've been through worse."
Zoro stood with his arms crossed, his swords gleaming in the sunlight. "All we need to do is stay focused. Whatever this map leads to, it's not going to be easy."
Robin's fingers traced the symbols along the map's edges. "These glyphs mention something called 'The Path of the Ancients.' It's a series of trials meant to test the worthiness of those who seek what lies at the end."
"Trials?" Chopper's eyes widened. "What kind of trials? Are they dangerous?"
"Most likely," Robin said calmly. "But that's what makes this adventure so intriguing."
Franky adjusted his goggles and grinned. "If it's a challenge, then we're the perfect crew for the job! Plus, we've got the Sunny. She's more than ready to handle whatever comes our way."
Brook strummed a light tune on his violin, his tone cheerful. "Ah, trials and danger! It's the perfect stage for an epic journey! Yohohoho!"
Nami took a deep breath and pointed to a specific symbol on the map. "Our first destination is marked here. It looks like a massive whirlpool surrounded by jagged rocks. If we're going to follow this path, we'll need to navigate through it."
"A whirlpool?" Usopp's face turned pale. "Can't we go around it?"
"No," Nami replied firmly. "The map is clear. The whirlpool is part of the trial. If we avoid it, we'll lose the path."
Luffy stood up, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Then we go straight through! No fear, right?"
"Right!" Chopper cheered, though his voice trembled slightly.
"Time to show this sea what we're made of!" Franky added, flexing his arms. "I'll reinforce the Sunny's hull, just in case. SUPER!"
"Prepare yourselves," Robin warned. "This isn't just a test of strength. It's a test of our unity and willpower."
Zoro smirked, his swords ready at his side. "We've got both in spades."
With the course set, the crew braced themselves as they sailed toward the distant whirlpool. The winds picked up, the sky darkened slightly, and the sea began to churn ominously. The Thousand Sunny pressed forward, the looming whirlpool on the horizon signaling the start of their next great trial.
