Chapter 281: The Guard
"Sure, send everything and make sure they are ready for me," he said in an audible tone while faking being a superior ordering his subordinates.
"Alright big shot, I'll just send a message to you now with the map and the item needed to detect the transportation history inside the palace. This item is special and it can detect the movement in the past week and pinpoint with extreme accuracy the places where things were moved to and from."
"Sounds interesting," Bloom honestly said while the guard stood a couple of meters away as Bloom just moved his hand to stop him.
"But I have to warn you, this item can't be obtained yet loaned to you."
"How can this be?!!" Bloom faked his anger and shouted in extreme rage to her.
And before she could say anymore, he just turned around and she could see his background and the guards standing not far from him.
"Alright I got it, you are already marked by the guards which isn't a good way though," she sighed, "I'm sorry if this was caused by me… let's continue talking in chat, shall we?"
"I won't accept that!" Bloom shouted before adding, "go back now and inform your boss that I won't pay more than fifty million in this item or else the deal can be off."
He closed the call as if he was slamming a door.
"Sir, I'm sorry but this is a restricted area for guests," the guard showed a change in his stern expression when he heard Bloom's last words.
"I had to get this call, who do they think I am? Asking for seventy million for an item that costs fifty? It's a theft! A daylight theft!" Bloom seemed not to care about the guard's words as he kept ranting about these fake issues.
"Sorry for your bad day sir," the guard showed more respect and tried to act with extreme caution with him, "but I have to ask you to enter inside."
"Oh, sorry for that," Bloom was about to turn before he paused and pointed to the guard to come closer.
"Can you help someone like me in knowing some details in advance about some items here? Y'know I always heavily reward anyone who is kind to me."
The face of the guard changed again before a wide smile appeared on his face.
"What sir wants, Entory will satisfy."
"Good lad," Bloom patted his shoulder, "I want to know if there is something special… y'know something that might be worth paying fifty million in it."
The guard's smile became wider before he said:
"There is an item being auctioned here that is estimated to be sold for ten million."
"That…" Bloom showed a faint look of disappointment, "I thought the house of Lion town would have something so precious to obtain."
"Hahaha, my master has such a priceless item but he would prefer to sell his soul than it," the guard laughed and Bloom knew what he was talking about.
"I might be interested in having it," the guard shook his head and then Bloom added, "or even see or know what it is so I can go and look for other things like it out there."
Bloom then took out a nice shield that wasn't any less in value than the sword he put to auction before. "I see you are a shield bearer, and having such a shield would be something good, right?"
The eyes of the guard shone brighter when he saw this shield. Bloom kept playing with the shield in his hand while the eyes of that guard kept following.
"This piece of gear… Esteemed sir has a really fine taste without doubt," the guard literally was drooling over the shield and Bloom kept toying with him for a bit before saying:
"I just told you, be kind and share some of your info with me and I promise you won't be disappointed," then he stored the shield away and turned to leave like he wasn't speaking with the guard just now.
"S- Sir… esteemed sir, please hold for a second."
The guard's voice was so low as if he was afraid to be heard.
"What are you afraid of?" Bloom smiled, "we are all alone here and no one can eavesdrop over us, right?"
"No one can know who might enter through these doors at any moment," the guard kept turning around before adding, "these doors beyond this hall are all linked to special items that would create a maze and let everyone move from east to west with just a single door opening."
"Amazing," Bloom said while his heart dropped to his knees, "I never thought there was such a gear in this world. Come, tell me more and that fancy shield will be yours."
Just mentioning the shield made the guard dispel any hesitation or doubt and started to say:
"I know of an item, so special that was given to my lord and not bought or acquired through any fight," the guard said before adding after couple of turning right and left, "this item can expel the monsters away, make the drop of them double, and even some says it creates strange black liquid out of the dead souls of monsters."
"Black liquid?" Bloom asked while his mind was thinking about another dilemma.
"It's said to grant special powers to whoever drinks it," the guard said, "honestly I didn't see a black liquid or spotted any special powers, but I saw the item with my two eyes."
This time Bloom was attracted to his words before the guard added, "it's some sort of ancient monster skull, like a giant bull with jaws that move slightly every now and then."
"It looks scary," Bloom said, trying to squeeze more info from this guard.
"It is, I recall the first time I held it and was about to pee over myself," the guard embarrassedly said.
"Holding it? your lord is quite generous to let you toy with his precious belongings."
