NOVEL NEXT Chapter 41: Long Awaited Upgrades
"I shouldn't have acted out on impulse huh..." he said as he tried free styling with his kunai, only to see that he couldn't do much with the absence of his little finger.
Shizune, seeing him like this, felt guilty even though it wasn't her fault in the slightest.
"I.. Let's go and ask Lady Tsunade for help." she said with a serious look on her face as she grabbed his hand and opened the door before marching in. Kira hurriedly grabbed his chopped off pinky before it was out of reach.
Inside the room, there were around 4 old men and of course, the fifth person was Tsunade. Just from one look at the piles of tokens that everyone had, Kira could tell that Tsunade was loosing miserably.
When the two of them barged into the room, everyone looked at the two kids in surprise, but Tsunade's reaction was a bit different. She looked at the two of them with an impatient look on her face.
"If you want to play, then go play. There's no need to ask me for my permission." she said as she counted her tokens.
Shizune on the other hand, simply went straight to the point, "Lady Tsunade, Kira came her to meet you and well... we were talking while we waited for you to come out but some things happened and uh... can you please just help him regrow his pinky finger?"
This time, the look on Tsunade's face changed from impatience to seriousness as her eyes moved to look at Kira's pinky-less hand.
She looked at the old men sitting near her and said, "The game is over, take the money you won and get out."
Kira sat silently while Tsunade lectured him and Shizune sat beside her mentor while having a guilty look on her face. She never expected her mentor to snap when she heard the whole story?
"-mentally retarded idiots would do something like that. Just what is wrong with your brain?!"
Kira looked up at her and simply said one sentence, "I worked as Orochimaru's assistant for three years."
While it was a good reason, it didn't change the fact that he had done something dumb on his own accord. Even he didn't know why he didn't think twice before cutting off his finger.
Tsunade went silent when she heard that and instead of looking at him, she glanced at his hand.
"Whatever, give me your hand." she said as she moved closer to him and grabbed his hand before activating her creation rebirth.
(A/N: English name is Mitotic regeneration. But creation rebirth sounds cooler to me, so I'll be using that instead.)
Kira watched his finger grow back slowly, but instead of sitting silently, he asked her a question, "Isn't it better to cut off the tip? This way, the regeneration should be faster right?"
"Yes, but I want to do it this way." Tsunade was stubborn as she finally finished regrowing his finger.
Once she was done, she looked up at him and asked, "So, why are you here? Just to clear it up, I have no plans on participating in the war and nor do I have any interest to become the hokage."
"Hey, that's not why I'm here. I came here to ask you to become my teacher. The war is close and I don't want to see too many people die. I've already lost one of my teammates..." he said, giving her a pitiful and sad expression. He wasn't acting this time, but instead, he simply expressed the actual sadness that he carried inside him.
Tsunade stared at him for a while before shaking her head, "Even if I wanted to teach you, the requirements for my technique is on a very high level. Even Shizune who's the most talented I've seen until now, is unable to use my hidden technique so what makes you think that you can do it?"
Kira was confident that he could learn it, but he didn't show this to her. Instead, he gave her a hopeful look and asked, "Can't I at least try? Please help me, Lady Tsunade."
She sighed when she saw him like this and shook her head, "Aaaah, whatever. Come back here tomorrow. I need some time to think about it."
"Thank you, Lady Tsunade!" he expressed his joy and hurriedly left the place without glancing at Shizune. As he ran out, a notification screen popped up in front of his face.

'Nice.' he thought to himself as he found another inn to spend the night at and didn't immediately use up his character point. Instead he waited for the next day as he would finally reach 11 years of age and would be able to use another point.
And just as he had expected, the next day, he received a notification for reaching 11 years of age. He silently did his daily workout and saw another notification that directly improved his physique.
The last time he used his character points was back when he was 8 years old and now that he was 11, he had gotten 3 points from aging and 1 point from his achievement.
After thinking about his stats a little bit, he decided to invest his 2 character points into taijutsu instead of the other stats as the reaction time of a person was directly related to both taijutsu and physique quality.
Taijutsu helped him make the mental decisions on the spot while his physique quality helped him act according to his thoughts.
As for the last two points, he put them into Dynamic Vision as this would help him get more " visual input" so he that he could boost his reaction speed even further. The synergistic effects of Taijutsu, Physique Quality and Dynamic Vision were very good.
