Chapter 25: Chapter 25 – The Challenge of Teaching and the First Day of Class
A week passed quickly.
Sal looked at Rin Nohara, who was now six years old and ready for her first day at the ninja academy.
— Rin, are you ready to begin your journey?
The girl nodded with a sparkle in her eyes.
— Yes, master!
Two years earlier, Sal had encountered Rin at the market while strolling with Orochimaru.
That day, he saw Rin and Obito together and came up with an idea.
He turned to Orochimaru with a challenging smile.
— Orochimaru, you always claim to be an excellent teacher, but your only disciple literally carries the best bloodline in the village. So, it's not like he really needs you to become strong.
Orochimaru narrowed his eyes, visibly annoyed.
— Where are you going with this, Sal?
Sal let out a low chuckle.
— Haha, I think I'm a better teacher than you. How about a bet? We both pick a child from this market to train, and whoever raises them to the level of Elite Jōnin first wins.
Orochimaru crossed his arms, a sly smile forming on his lips.
— Deal. But since you mentioned bloodlines, the child must come from a civilian background.
Sal grinned even more.
— Exactly what I was going to say.
They observed the market for a few minutes before each choosing a student.
Sal chose Rin Nohara.
By coincidence, Orochimaru picked Anko Mitarashi, who was sitting nearby eating dumplings.
From that day on, the bet began.
That very afternoon, Sal went to Rin's house and spoke with her family about his desire to make her his disciple.
Thanks to his great reputation in the village, he met no resistance from the Nohara family.
For the past two years, Sal had trained Rin in the fundamental aspects of ninja life:
✔ Chakra refinement
✔ Basic physical training
✔ Chakra control
✔ Finger flexibility training
Now, Rin was ready to enter the academy.
Sal looked at his student, who seemed determined despite her young age.
— Let's go. Today, I'll take you to the academy. Your parents left early for work, so I'll be the one accompanying you.
Rin nodded, quickly grabbing her things.
Then, she paused for a moment and looked at Sal.
— Master, I think I should call Obito; otherwise, he'll be late.
Sal sighed.
— If that smelly brat is late on the first day of class, I'll make him train in the water for three hours.
Arriving at the academy, Sal walked in with Rin.
Normally, he would stay in the director's office, but this year, he had decided to teach personally.
"If I have direct contact with this generation, I'll be able to influence the future even more… and earn more points in the system."
As he entered the classroom, Sal quickly recognized several familiar faces.
✔ Sarutobi Asuma
✔ Kurenai Yuhi
✔ Anko Mitarashi
✔ Kakashi Hatake
And, of course, Obito Uchiha was still nowhere to be seen.
Sal shook his head.
"Typical…"
He looked at the students, who watched him with curiosity.
Little did they know that this academy year would change the future of the ninja world forever.
