Naruto: Wooing Tsunade from Day One!

Chapter 207: Chapter 207: Hokage Rock

Early the next morning.

Tsunade, dressed in her Hokage robe, was enjoying breakfast at home when Kawakaze approached her with a request to attend the inauguration ceremony together.

"Sis, since you're going to be Hokage. Can I join the Anbu?" Nawaki asked, his eyes brimming with hope as he made his request.

Tsunade frowned slightly. "Anbu? Have you thought about it?" she asked, her tone serious. Though she wasn't entirely against the idea—Nawaki had grown strong and had even been to war—her subconscious bias and concern for her younger brother held her back.

"I still need to grow," Nawaki replied firmly. He felt his progress had stalled without real combat experience. His sparring matches with Minato often ended in defeat because Minato kept using the Flying Thunder God Technique after secretly marking him.

Nearby, Mito listened quietly to the siblings' conversation. The children had grown, and it was only natural for them to start forming their own ideas.

"Okay, I promise," Tsunade finally said. "I'll make you a squad leader." While appointing him as Anbu chief would be too much, making him a squad leader was a decision she could handle easily.

"Sis, I knew you'd be the best!" Nawaki beamed with happiness, his grin stretching almost ear to ear.

"What about me? What about me?" Kushina interjected, pointing at herself eagerly.

"Go mind your own business," Tsunade replied with a casual glance before continuing her meal. Kushina, after all, hadn't even graduated yet. Even if she did, she'd only be a Genin—what could she possibly do?

"Pfft~" Misaki burst into laughter at Tsunade's blunt response.

"Sister Tsunade, you're so biased," Kushina pouted, clearly dissatisfied.

"I'll find you a good Jōnin to lead your team when you graduate," Tsunade said, offering a small concession.

"Okay," Kushina agreed after a moment's thought. Graduation wasn't far off, after all.

After Tsunade finished eating, she seemed to remember something and turned to look at Mito.

"Grandma, do you want to go take a look?" she asked.

"I'm not going. Just don't ruin your grandfather's hard work," Mito replied calmly. She had seen such events countless times before—after all, Konoha was founded by her husband. This little scene held no interest for her. Besides, she still had to pick out the lanterns for the wedding later.

"Okay," Tsunade responded, unsurprised. She had expected that answer.

"Why hasn't my brother-in-law arrived yet?" Nawaki asked impatiently.

"Hurry up-" Tsunade began to say, but before she could finish, Kawakaze's voice came from the dining room entrance.

"Who's talking about me?" he said.

There was no mistaking it—he had just come out of her room again.

"Brother-in-law."

"Big Brother Kawakaze." Both Kushina and Misaki called out to him in unison. It was amusing to think about how she and Minato might address each other in the future.

"Grandma," Kawakaze greeted with a respectful nod, addressing Mito first.

"You're here. Have you eaten yet?" Mito asked, her face showing a rare smile. She was quite pleased with Kawakaze.

"I already ate. I came to find Tsunade to go to the inauguration ceremony," Kawakaze replied. It was getting late, and villagers had already begun gathering in the center of the village.

"Well, you guys go ahead. I'm not going to join the fun," Mito said firmly, cutting off any chance Kawakaze had to convince her otherwise.

"Well, we'll be going then," Kawakaze said, realizing there was no point in pressing further. Without adding anything more, he and Tsunade left together.

The three younger ones—Nawaki, Kushina, and Misaki—weren't about to miss out on the excitement either. After bidding farewell to Mito, they hurried out as well.

For a moment, the dining room was left quiet, with only Mito remaining.

"Hashirama, I'm afraid you never imagined that little Tsuna would become Hokage, did you?" Mito murmured to herself, watching the backs of the group as they left.

After exiting the gates of the Senju Residence, Kawakaze and Tsunade walked toward the center of the village. Behind them, the three younger ones—Nawaki, Kushina, and Misaki—followed, their conversation punctuated by occasional bursts of laughter.

"Are you nervous?" Kawakaze asked, gently pinching Tsunade's hand.

"What's there to be nervous about? I'm already the third Hokage in my family," Tsunade replied with an indifferent air. Having grown up closely acquainted with the role, she felt no particular reverence for the position.

"Okay, then are you afraid of the piles of paperwork?"

Kawakaze had hit the nail on the head.

"You said you'd help me find someone."

"If I can't find anyone, I'll make you do the hard labor." Tsunade's face instantly fell. She wasn't incapable of handling it, but she couldn't manage it for long.

"Haha, I've found someone for you."

"After the ceremony, we'll go together and invite them." Kawakaze was very happy to tease Tsunade a little and successfully earned her "Iron Fist of Love" in the process.

"Look, Kawakaze Big Brother is getting beaten up again." Kushina even felt that Tsunade was being a bit too much, noting she'd never treated Minato like that.

"Haha, someone might have learned from my sister." Nawaki gave Kushina a disdainful glance, thinking Misaki was still the best.

"I would never beat someone up for no reason."

Kushina felt a little guilty as she spoke. "Right, Misaki?" she asked, looking around for someone to back her up.

"Yes, Kushina is the gentlest," Misaki replied. Like an older sister, she showed no hesitation in taking Kushina's side, prioritizing her happiness above all.

"You hear that?" Kushina immediately regained her confidence and looked smugly at Nawaki.

"Forget it, I'm too lazy to argue with you." Catching Misaki's hidden wink, Nawaki decided to drop the matter.

"Hmph," Kushina snorted and stopped seeking trouble. Perhaps she had realized something herself.

...

By the time the group reached the center of the village, many villagers had already gathered there.

Tsunade waved and greeted them with a smile. Not only was she the hospital director, but she was also the commander of Konohagakure during the Second Shinobi World War, earning her a high reputation among the villagers.

As it turned out, the route Kawakaze had planned was perfect. A magnificent platform stood in the center of the village, with flags fluttering in the wind. On either side of the platform, a dozen Anbu stood guard, looking imposing. At the center of the platform was a high-end megaphone, far better than the one Sarutobi Hiruzen had used in a hurry.

"You've finally arrived," Koharu Utatane called out. She had been busy for a long time and hurried over to welcome Tsunade when she saw her.

"Follow me."

Before Tsunade could respond, Koharu grabbed her and pulled her along.

"You three, go find Minato and the others to watch the ceremony together," Kawakaze instructed the rest of the group before following Tsunade.

"What's the rush?" Tsunade grumbled as she was dragged along.

"Lady Hokage, when you give your speech, the Hokage Rock will be inscribed at the same time," Koharu explained. "Now, there are a few photos for you to choose from. The masters are waiting anxiously."

Tsunade finally reacted, realizing her own likeness would be carved beside those of her two grandfathers and her sensei.

"I'm definitely the best-looking one," Tsunade grinned, feeling a spark of excitement.

"You're still the youngest Hokage," Kawakaze added from behind, praising her.

"That's right." Tsunade raised her head slightly, brimming with pride.

Under Koharu's guidance, Tsunade met with the master carver and chose a photo where her smile was the prettiest as the model for her carving. After discussing a few details, she watched as the Rock Carving Master departed, satisfied with their work.
