Naruto: Wait, I’m Toneri?!

Chapter 8: Chapter 8

A hand clamped onto Danzo's wrist.

Both Danzo and Shisui turned.

The newcomer's face? Irritation. Not anger. Not fury. Just pure, unfiltered, morning-routine-disrupted irritation.

Danzo's lone eye narrowed. Who? How? When?

There was no sound. No disturbance of chakra. Nothing. Yet, this man had materialized out of nowhere, bypassing both his and Anbu's awareness.

That alone was enough to make Danzo wary. Not many could pull off something like that.

And his eyes…

Danzo had seen many dojutsu in his life. But this? They were… strange.

"Who are you?" Danzo finally asked.

The man didn't answer.

Danzo's fingers twitched slightly. Still no reaction.

Not good. Most shinobi—even skilled ones—revealed something in their stance. Fear. Confidence. Even arrogance.

But this man?

He wasn't tense. He wasn't on guard.

He just looked... done.

Like someone dragged out of bed before he could have tea.

Danzo's unease grew as he made distance. This wasn't just an unknown. This was an unknown who didn't even find him worth acknowledging.

"Why are you interfering in Konoha's business?" Danzo asked, watching carefully.

Toneri sighed. The kind of sigh that suggested this whole situation was a personal inconvenience.

Then—he moved.

Danzo tensed—only to realize the man was still ignoring him.

Instead, the stranger placed a glowing hand on Shisui's shoulder.

Danzo frowned. Healing? No, but…

Shisui's breath evened. His clenched jaw loosened. The strain in his eyes faded.

Danzo's lone eye sharpened.

His complexion… it had changed.

The subtle signs of poisoning, the faint stiffness—gone.

His patience wore thin.

Enough of this.

He gave a nod.

Root ANBU sprang into action.

A dozen masked shinobi surrounded the stranger. Four of them lunged forward with blade.

Steel inches from his skin—

And then—

A small cyan orb appeared.

A harmless little thing. Floating. Innocent.

Danzo's instincts screamed.

A cyan ring formed around Toneri and Shisui.

And then—

Everything went to hell.

The blast tore through the land.

Wind exploded outward—not like a jutsu, not like chakra release.

This was raw force.

The ground split open for miles. Trees? Gone. The very landscape shifted in an instant.

Even Konoha felt it.

Even those gathered beneath Nakano Shrine felt it.

By the time the dust settled—

Shisui was on his knees, mouth agape.

Toneri?

Toneri was staring at his own hands.

His face—

Blank.

Slowly, he turned to look at the destruction.

His lips parted. After a long pause, he muttered—

"...Wait. Did I overdo it?"

He couldn't but let out a small, awkward chuckle. Oops.

He had meant to just push away the approaching ANBU. Not, well... redesign the landscape.

The wind had torn through the land with such force that a massive crater stretched out for miles. Only the tiny patch of ground he and Shisui stood on remained untouched, like an island in a sea.

Definitely overdid it.

Toneri rubbed his chin. "Yeah, this is gonna get some attention."

Shisui, meanwhile, was still processing. His wide eyes darted from Toneri to the wasteland around them.

A day ago, he had dismissed this guy as a rambling idiot. Now?

Now he wasn't so sure.

Someone this strong didn't need to lie.

Shisui slowly turned toward him, a dozen questions in his head—

Only for Toneri to shove him.

Hard.

Straight into a portal.

Shisui's expression morphed from confusion—To realization—To betrayal.

Toneri waved cheerfully.

"Safe travels."

And just like that, Shisui vanished.

Toneri exhaled, rolling his shoulders. That handled one problem.

Now, for the other one.

Without even forming a seal, a shadow clone smoked into existence. It gave him a nod before vanishing toward Nakano Shrine.

Toneri, meanwhile, narrowed his eyes, scanning the remains of the battlefield.

Something wasn't right.

A moment later, he found it.

A familiar figure limping in the distance.

Danzo.

The old crook was still alive.

Toneri clicked his tongue. "Tch. Of course you have backups."

He raised a hand.

A simple, casual motion—like plucking something off a shelf.

Danzo, who had been running for his life, suddenly felt an unseen force yank him backward.

His one good eye widened in horror.

He was mere seconds from reaching Konoha's perimeter—almost free—

And then—

WHOOSH.

He flew backward with zero resistance.

Straight past Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Hiruzen, who had been rushing toward the source of the explosion, barely had time to process what he was seeing.

His old friend Danzo.

Flying through the air like a particularly unlucky ragdoll.

Hiruzen blinked. "Danzo?"

The ANBU at his side? Also stunned.

Danzo, meanwhile, could only think:

This is undignified.

Okay guys, I've reached my first milestone—50k views and 50 power stones! As promised, here's another chapter.

Now, for the next one, I'll need another 50 power stones. Who's going to donate? Of course, those who asked for my Patreon—the link is provided below.

Usually, I work on unfinished or half-written chapters stored in my Wattpad drafts as a safe house. But from today, I'll be using Patreon as my shelf. You should appreciate the time I spend—not just for my entertainment, but for yours too!

Don't worry, our regular releases will continue as usual. However, there may be certain days when I don't post.

By the way, my Patreon is empty for now, but I'll be releasing another chapter there today—maybe even more!
