Chapter 31: Chapter:31
"Mito-sama?"
Sarutobi Hiruzen's flushed face turned pale as Uzumaki Mito's words echoed in his mind. He never expected her to push him into such a dire situation at this critical moment.
"You promised to deal with the Uchiha clan!"
Hiruzen's thoughts raced. He felt betrayed and abandoned. If he couldn't even count on Uzumaki Mito, his path to becoming Hokage was doomed.
Uchiha Hirito grinned from his seat, his crimson Sharingan glinting. Sarutobi Hiruzen was now isolated, teetering on the edge of despair. The stage was set, and Hirito was ready to deliver the final blow.
"Sarutobi Hiruzen, if you don't dare to accept the challenge, step down and stop wasting everyone's time!" Hirito's voice was cold, carrying a weight that pressed down on the entire room.
Hiruzen's hands clenched into fists. He couldn't back down now—not in front of Konoha's most powerful clans.
"Fine, I'll accept your challenge!" Hiruzen's voice carried a desperate resolve.
"Good!" Hirito's smirk widened. "But let's make this clear—this is a duel between ninjas. If one of us dies, it's because they were weaker. Let everyone here bear witness!"
The atmosphere in the room became tense. Hirito activated his three-tomoe Sharingan, its red glow sending chills down the spines of those present.
No one objected. They understood what was at stake. This wasn't just a duel; it was a battle for Konoha's future leadership.
The scene shifted to Konoha's duel arena. Sarutobi Hiruzen and Uchiha Hirito stood across from each other, their gazes locked in silent challenge.
Hiruzen made the first move, dashing forward with incredible speed. In one fluid motion, he unleashed a barrage of shuriken aimed at Hirito.
Hirito's lips curled into a sneer. "Amateurish."
With the Sharingan's enhanced perception, Hirito moved effortlessly, weaving through the flying projectiles. His movements seemed almost lazy, a deliberate show of superiority.
"Now!" Hiruzen thought, a glimmer of hope flashing in his eyes.
"Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique!"
In an instant, the single shuriken multiplied into dozens, filling every possible escape route. The air whistled with the sound of deadly metal.
Hiruzen's confidence surged. He had sparred countless times with Uchiha Kagami, one of Hirito's clanmates, and understood how to exploit the Sharingan's weaknesses.
"Checkmate!"
But Hirito remained unfazed. His expression didn't change as he weaved through the incoming shuriken.
"Lava Release: Burning River Rock Technique!"
Hirito's lips parted, and a molten stream of magma erupted from his mouth, consuming the shadow-clone shuriken in a hiss of steam and sparks.
The crowd gasped in unison. Lava Release?
Hiruzen froze, his earlier confidence shattered.
"How does an Uchiha have Lava Release?" Hiruzen stammered, his voice betraying his disbelief.
The onlookers whispered among themselves, their shock palpable.
"What luck the Uchiha clan has! Sharingan and Lava Release?"
"They're truly the chosen of the Six Paths Sage!"
Hirito reveled in their awe, his expression smug.
"What's the matter, Hiruzen? Don't tell me you're scared." Hirito's voice was mocking, dripping with disdain.
Hiruzen gritted his teeth and darted to the side, trying to find an opening.
"Lava Release: Lava Condensation Technique!"
Hirito expelled another stream of magma. It spread across the ground, hardening instantly and creating jagged, molten obstacles.
The arena was turning into a death trap.
"Curse you!" Hiruzen growled as he leapt from one precarious foothold to another.
"You dare to call this fair? Fight me with taijutsu if you're so confident!"
Hirito smirked. "Why would I stoop to your level when I can win like this?"
The spectators chuckled at Hiruzen's outburst. A duel was about survival and strategy, not fairness. If Hirito had superior abilities, he would be a fool not to use them.
Hiruzen's desperation only made him look weaker.
The chase continued, with Hiruzen barely staying ahead of Hirito's relentless assault. His breathing grew labored, his movements sluggish.
Hirito's Sharingan tracked every misstep, every falter.
"Pathetic," Hirito muttered, his voice low enough that only he could hear. He decided it was time to end this farce.
Hiruzen stumbled, his body screaming for rest. Hirito moved with calculated precision, closing the distance between them.
The onlookers held their breath as Hirito raised his hand, forming a series of hand seals.
"Lava Release: Magma Wave!"
A massive surge of molten rock surged toward Hiruzen, its heat distorting the air.
Hiruzen's eyes widened in terror. He had no energy left to dodge.
