Naruto: Tobirama Reborn, Invincible in the Ninja World

Chapter 122: Chapter 122: Is Obito Still Alive?

Hokage Office.

Kakashi ran a hand through his hair, confusion evident as he stood before the Hokage.

Why had he been summoned? And, more importantly, why was Uchiha Madara standing there of all people?

"Kakashi, your left eye… it's a Sharingan, isn't it?"

Tobirama's sharp gaze locked onto him, his tone deliberate despite knowing the answer.

"…Yes. It was a gift from a comrade… before he passed."

Kakashi's expression faltered, revealing the pain buried deep within.

Pulling down his tilted forehead protector, the three tomoe of his crimson Sharingan spun slowly.

As someone without Uchiha blood, Kakashi couldn't deactivate the eye, a fact that constantly drained his chakra and served as a source of frustration.

"Don't tell me," Kakashi suddenly thought, alarm flashing across his face. Madara's here to reclaim the Uchiha's eyes?

The possibility seemed reasonable—after all, Madara was the progenitor of the Uchiha clan. It wouldn't be surprising if he wanted to retrieve a Sharingan that had fallen into the hands of an outsider.

But this eye… it wasn't just any Sharingan. It was Obito's final gift.

Even Uchiha Madara had no right to take it from him!

"Has your eye… ever changed?" Tobirama's voice cut through Kakashi's spiraling thoughts, calm and probing.

"Changed?" Kakashi hesitated before nodding. "There was a time, yes. During a fight with members of the Akatsuki, I unlocked an ability within the eye."

He recalled the battle with Deidara—how his gaze had twisted space itself, tearing off the man's arm with a single glance. But that power came at a steep price. If not for Lady Tsunade's intervention afterward, he would've collapsed entirely.

The Sharingan's tomoe spun faster now under Kakashi's control, merging into a distinct, pinwheel-like pattern.

"The Mangekyō Sharingan," Madara commented coolly, his expression unreadable.

"The Mangekyō is awakened through profound emotional trauma—often witnessing the death of someone you share a deep bond with," Madara continued, his words heavy with implication.

"Without Uchiha blood, it shouldn't even be possible to unlock it."

Kakashi froze. "Then how…"

His mind raced back to that fateful day. The Mist shinobi had turned Rin into the Three-Tails' Jinchūriki. She'd begged him to kill her, forcing herself onto his Lightning Blade.

The moment Rin died, he had felt it—an overwhelming surge of power, right before he blacked out.

But if what Madara said was true… then this could only mean one thing.

"Could it be… Obito? Could he still be alive?"

The thought was almost too much to bear. If Obito survived, why hadn't he returned to Konoha?

"Tobirama," Madara muttered with a scowl, "are you going to explain, or should I?"

"I don't have time for storytelling," Madara snapped, turning away. Clearly, he had no desire to recount the twisted chain of events that had turned Obito from an idealistic youth into a harbinger of chaos.

"Yes," Tobirama confirmed bluntly, "Obito is alive."

Kakashi's eyes widened as Tobirama laid out the grim truth—how Madara had chosen Obito as his successor, manipulating him through pain and despair. The details were sparse but damning. Even Madara seemed taken aback by how much Tobirama knew.

"No… this can't be real…"

Kakashi clutched his head, overwhelmed. How could the Obito he knew—the Obito who helped old ladies cross the street, who dreamed of becoming Hokage, who believed in protecting comrades above all else—be capable of such atrocities?

This was the same Obito responsible for the Nine-Tails' attack, for Minato-sensei and Kushina's deaths.

"Madara, you truly are a curse on this world," Tobirama muttered, his eyes narrowing.

Madara said nothing, though his silence spoke volumes. Even he hadn't anticipated how far Obito would go—or how devastating the results would be.

After what felt like an eternity, Kakashi finally found his voice, though it was hoarse and laced with pain.

"Hokage-sama… if it comes to confronting Obito, what can I do to help?"

His resolve was firm. Kakashi had too many questions for Obito—questions he needed answered. And in the end, Obito had to answer for his crimes against the village.

Tobirama nodded. "First, master your Mangekyō Sharingan. You'll need to use its space-time ability to breach his dimension—it's the only place he can be found."

Kakashi grimaced but nodded in determination.

As Kakashi exited the office, his steps heavy with emotion, Tobirama turned to Madara with a thoughtful look.

"Next, we target Kumogakure's Eight-Tails and Two-Tails. With the Raikage declaring war on us, we have justification."

Madara smirked, recalling the irony. "Weren't you killed by two Kumo shinobi back in the day?"

Tobirama's gaze darkened, but before he could respond, an ANBU burst into the room.

"Hokage-sama! Akatsuki members have appeared at the village gates!"
