In the backyard, Uchiha Fugaku spent time with little Sasuke, listening to him talk about his recent training progress.

Even during Fugaku's absence, Sasuke had not slacked off and continued his training diligently.

A faint smile appeared on Fugaku's face as he reached out to pat Sasuke's head, silently praising him for his hard work.

Little Sasuke's eyes squinted like a contented kitten, thoroughly enjoying his father's rare display of affection.

"Fugaku, Sasuke, it's time for dinner!"

Uchiha Mikoto's gentle voice rang out from the house.

Fugaku and Sasuke turned to see Mikoto standing at the doorway, wearing a yellow apron adorned with a cute cat pattern.

Clearly, she had just finished preparing their evening meal.

"Coming," Fugaku responded with a smile as Sasuke nodded eagerly.

Father and son followed Mikoto into the dining room, where the table was laid out with an array of delicious dishes.

"Oh, all of these are my favorites," Fugaku remarked with a grin, scanning the spread.

"You must not have been eating well these past few days, so I made sure to prepare your favorite dishes," Mikoto replied warmly, her smile as soft as the glow of the room.

"Then I'll have to eat my fill," Fugaku said, chuckling as he pulled Sasuke to sit at the table.

Mikoto served them rice, her expression tender as she watched them enjoy their meal together.

When Uchiha Shisui left the Hokage Building, the evening sky was painted in hues of orange and red.

Removing his mask, he revealed a young face partially covered by an eye patch over his right eye.

The streets were quiet as Shisui walked back toward the Uchiha compound.

Warm lights spilled from the windows of the houses along the street, each one a scene of peace and normalcy.

Shisui's heart filled with a quiet resolve. He was determined to protect this peace, even if it meant being branded a traitor by his own clan.

As long as his actions ensured the village's stability, he was willing to bear any burden.

Unfortunately, very few in his clan could understand his ideals—only Uchiha Itachi shared his vision for the future.

At one time, Shisui had thought that the clan leader, Uchiha Fugaku, might support his perspective, but a conversation with him months ago had shattered that illusion.

Fugaku, like most others in the clan, was fixated on their grievances rather than the greater good.

Upon reaching the Uchiha compound, Shisui did not head to his own residence. Instead, he made his way to another home nearby.

Knocking firmly on the door, Shisui waited until it opened, revealing a man in his late twenties.

The man was Uchiha Hiroshi, a special jonin and one of the twelve clan members who had accompanied Fugaku to the Land of Rice.

"Shisui? What brings you here?" Hiroshi asked, surprised by his visitor.

Nonetheless, he stepped aside, gesturing for Shisui to enter.

The two soon sat cross-legged at a small coffee table. Hiroshi poured tea and slid a cup across to Shisui.

"Here, have some tea."

"Thank you," Shisui replied, taking the cup but feeling a pang of guilt.

His purpose for visiting wasn't purely social. Everything he was about to do was for the sake of Konoha's peace—no matter how much it pained him.

"Hiroshi, I wanted to congratulate you on returning safely," Shisui began, his voice light.

"Ahaha… thank you," Hiroshi replied, scratching his head awkwardly. "Honestly, we have the clan leader to thank for that. Without him, none of us would have made it back alive."

Shisui's interest piqued, but he kept his expression neutral.

"Did the mission go smoothly?" he asked casually, though his question carried great weight.

Shisui's true purpose for visiting Hiroshi was to uncover the truth behind the clan's recent trip to the Land of Rice—and whether it was connected to Danzo Shimura's disappearance.

"There were some difficulties," Hiroshi admitted, a hint of unease crossing his features. "But overall, it went smoothly enough."

"Oh? What sort of difficulties?" Shisui asked, feigning surprise.

Hiroshi hesitated, his discomfort evident.

The clan leader had issued strict orders not to disclose any details of the mission. While Hiroshi respected Shisui as a fellow clansman, he could not betray Fugaku's trust.

"I'm sorry, Shisui," Hiroshi said finally, shaking his head. "The clan leader has forbidden us from discussing the mission. I can't say more."

"I understand," Shisui replied with a disarming smile, though inwardly he felt frustrated.

The fact that Fugaku had imposed such strict secrecy only confirmed that the mission was far from ordinary.

"If you're really curious, you could ask the clan leader directly," Hiroshi added, sensing Shisui's disappointment.

"I might do that," Shisui said, nodding.

But he knew it was unlikely that Fugaku would share anything with him. Ever since their earlier confrontation about the clan's rumored coup, Fugaku had treated him with cold indifference.

Realizing he would get no further with Hiroshi through conventional means, Shisui steeled himself for what he had to do next.

"Hiroshi," he said softly.

Hiroshi looked up at him, meeting Shisui's gaze.

At that moment, Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan spun into life, its hypnotic power activating instantly.

"Hypnosis—"

Even as a special jonin and a wielder of the two-tomoe Sharingan, Hiroshi was no match for the illusionary power of Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan.

His eyes glazed over, and his expression went slack as he fell into a trance.

"I'm sorry, Hiroshi," Shisui thought to himself, guilt stabbing at his heart. But his resolve did not waver.

All for the sake of peace, all for the sake of Konoha.

"Hiroshi," Shisui began, his voice steady, "tell me the truth. Was the disappearance of Advisor Danzo the work of our clan?"

Hiroshi's face twitched, as though some part of him struggled to resist.

Shisui frowned and increased the output of his Mangekyō Sharingan's power.

The internal struggle on Hiroshi's face faded, and he began to speak, his voice monotone and devoid of emotion.

"Advisor Danzo…"
