Chapter 30- Meeting Sarutobi Hiruzen

Today was the day we would meet our new sensei and start our ninja career. Needless to say, both me and Tsunade were excited, but she was a bit tense too since she knew there would be a test conducted by Sarutobi Hiruzen to officially become genin. However, she didn't know what the test would be, hence the tension. I, on the other hand, was excited for the test. It would also be a chance to test myself against a proper elite jonin. Although my chakra put my strength at this level theoretically, it was only theoretical, after all. I knew that if we fought, I would stand almost zero chance against Hiruzen right now.

The first thing was that this was a world full of ninjas, where the main theme for fights is deceit and sneak attacks, which you just can't know without a lot of fighting experience. If this were the world of One Piece, it would have been much simpler—there, being strong means strong. Tactics were rarely used, and it was generally a head-on all-out fight, which is simpler than ninjas. Here, we don't just need superb instincts but also a lot of presence of mind and careful planning. A well-planned elite jonin can actually manage to kill a weaker kage. Though if the difference in strength is too much, tactics are useless.

Although my goal in life is to reach the level of strength where tactics are useless against me, I do not have such strength now. Hence, it would be better to learn fighting skills as much as possible, or I may end up like Kaguya Otsutsuki, who couldn't even utilise half her strength. Though me having extreme-level nerve reaction does put my fighting skills at a fairly decent level already, that is mostly just relying on instinct, not experience. I want to turn it into muscle memory. At the very least, if I ever face an opponent with an equal amount of strength, I should be able to defeat him head-on.

The class was filled with young shinobi waiting to be called upon by their respective jonin senseis. I calmly looked around the classroom, filled with nostalgia. Maybe I would never be in a classroom again. Maybe we hate schools when we studied in them, but after becoming adults, we often think of school as the best time in our life. Well, I guess my previous life's dream of going back to school was fulfilled, although the nature of the school is quite different. But it still counts. Anyways, the jonins have started coming, calling out three people each. The young genins left, probably leaving the class for the last time.

Soon, a handsome man with an X mark on his chin appeared and called out for Orochimaru, Hiruko, and Hana Uchiha. 'So this is young Danzo... damn, no one can imagine that this handsome guy would eventually become the darkness of shinobi, the most disgusting villain of Naruto.' The three of them bid us farewell and left together. Soon after, a young man of short stature, probably in his twenties, entered the class.

"Senju Tsunade, Watanabe Akira, Jiraya, follow me," he said and signaled us to come outside with him.

We soon went to a secluded place on the roof of the ninja academy.

"Alright then, let's first start with the introductions. I am Sarutobi Hiruzen, an elite jonin of the Hidden Leaf Village. I am good at ninjutsu of all five chakra natures. What I like most would be learning new ninjutsu. I hate wars the most. My dream is world peace. As for hobbies... hmm, that would be smoking. Now all of you introduce yourselves one by one."

Well... it was my fault to expect Sarutobi Hiruzen to be like Kakashi. I guess his overspeaking side came early on. Anyways... introduction.

"I am Jiraya, the greatest genius in all of Konoha, future Hokage and God of Shinobi. I love beautiful women, hate studying, and I like going to hot springs. As for my dream, it is to be known and revered by all the beautiful women in the world," the group idiot, Jiraya, was the first to introduce himself. He is a man of culture indeed. I could see Tsunade by my side gnashing her teeth.

"Akira, you must stay away from Jiraya in the future. Don't learn anything from him," Tsuna warned me.

Well, not like I was going to follow Jiraya anyways. It might seem fun and jokes in the anime, but it is really creepy and deranged if you think about it. In the original work, he tried to peep at Tsunade while she was bathing and was sent flying in a near-death state by a single punch. If he did it now, he would be in an even worse state—done by me, of course. So although Jiraya is a good friend, I hope he can keep his perverted tendencies away.

"I am Senju Tsunade. My dream is to become the Hokage and a great ninja like my grandfather, who I love... as well..." (She glances towards me.) "And what I hate is people dying. I wish to become the best medical ninja in the world."

Tsunade's introduction was... well... no!!!!! She's turning into her disciple. No, what if she too turns useless... ok, calm down, Akira... maybe it's just a phase, and she's much stronger than Sakura.

"I am Akira Watanabe. My dream is to become the Hokage. I wish to learn all the ninjutsu in the world and become the strongest."

Well, might be a bit cringey, but this is how this world works. If you don't speak such things, you're sus.

"Great. So all of you also wish to become the Hokage. It is also my dream to become the Hokage, like my teacher, the Second Hokage. We would indeed make a great team, but before that, to officially become my students, there will be a test for you. If you pass, then you'd become genin. If you fail, you're going back to the academy for another year," Hiruzen-sensei said, affirming our goals and announcing the upcoming test.

Me and Tsunade already knew about it, so there was no particular reaction, but Jiraya, on the other hand...

"Haaahhhh... another test? It's not going to be a written test, is it? And we've already graduated from the academy. Why do we need to go back?" Jiraya shouted loudly, holding his head with both hands, visibly frustrated and annoyed.

Sarutobi-sensei just laughed at him, stood up, and using the Body Flicker, reached the edge of the roof.

"Meet me at training ground number 11 of the Death Forest in 30 minutes. Let's see what you're capable of then."
