Naruto: The New Sealmaster

Chapter 5: Bell Test!

Author's note: I have altered the substitution technique slightly. This is how it works in this fic. It allows you to swap with anything of similar size. However, ninjas can usually use their chakra to counteract it and prevent being substituted with. It's only generally corpses or civilians who might be affected. You'll see that I slightly altered some jutsus, but it'll be apparent in the fic.

Tetsuo had a fit. He instantly threw shuriken at Kakashi and yelled "Why are you so late!? We've waited for an eternity...AGAIN!"

Kakashi grabbed his shuriken right out of the air and glared at Tetsuo. A terrible feeling, which felt like freezing cold liquid dripping down Aoshi's spine, spread across the area and he instantly knew what this was. Kakashi had let out a bit of killing intent. Aoshi didn't want to imagine what Tetsuo, whom it was directed at, felt. Finally, Kakashi spoke. "You dare attack a fellow shinobi just like that? For not arriving when you wished they did?"

The voice was colder than any he had ever heard before. It seeped in through his skin. "These shuriken you threw, account to actual treason. You know that right?" Tetsuo looked scared out of his mind. He was sweating and he gulped audibly while he nodded at his sensei.

"Since I'm a jounin and was never in danger, I'll drop it for this time and get on with what we're going to do here." He threw the shuriken to the ground in between Tetsuo's feet, and then all of a sudden his frightening expression was gone.

Suddenly a relaxed face appeared on their sensei. "Alright brats. Today I'm going to give you your graduation test." It took Tetsuo and Akiho a couple of seconds to recognize what he was talking about but then they exclaimed together "WHAT!?"

Kakashi scoffed at them. "Did you really think the graduation test would be as simple as they have in the academy? If you want to become a genin you're going to have to try harder than that."

The two were still rather surprised and angry, but their fear of the man overpowered those emotions to the point where they remained quiet. Aoshi had already known this so he just waited for Kakashi's explanation.

He took out two bells. "Here are two bells. Whoever gets a bell, gets to become a genin. If you don't have one after two hours, you're going back to the academy."

Aoshi exclaimed without thinking "But there's three of us." Kakashi lazily raised his eyebrow at him as if to say 'So? Why should I care?'.

Tetsuo was next in line to talk "But-" Except he was interrupted by Kakashi who calmly spoke "Your time has started. I'm going to fight back by the way. Fight to kill or you won't stand a chance."

The three spread out instantly in between the bushes.

Aoshi had layered a couple of small genjutsus around his area in case Kakashi came looking for him. He needed time to think and come up with a plan. The genjutsus he used didn't do anything major. They seemingly moved some trees, made some puddles here and there and disguised the small traps he set up.

So he sat down and thought about his situation. What could be the point of all this? There were no three man teams, it was always three genin and a jounin. There must be some kind of point to all this he was missing. Then he thought of Tetsuo who surely by now had straight up confronted Kakashi without thinking about anything just to get ahead.

That's when another question popped into his head. How were they supposed to steal something on their own against a jounin? No, surely they were supposed to work together to get the prize, but he knew it was impossible to get along with those two. He'd have to try though.

That's when he felt one of his traps activate. When running through his genjutsu you'd either run right into a tree or into a trap. Both of which weren't great for you. He felt one of his layered genjutsus be dispelled after a trap was activated, so he got ready to face his destiny.

In the corner of his eye he saw something shine and dodged a wide barrage of kunai flying his way. He quickly noticed that it was Kakashi who came after him first. When he got closer, Aoshi was glad his second genjutsu was still in place. It was a simple genjutsu which just made it look like you were in a slightly different place. So when Kakashi tried to strike, Aoshi managed to attach a seal on him instead.

This would be the second seal Kakashi was hit with, since he fell into one of his traps as well, both seals were made to seal away part of your chakra system. This time he struck Kakashi's left arm, it was clear the other seal had struck further down on that same arm so his left arm should be out of commission for now. Seeing that, Aoshi went for one of the bells only to see that Kakashi looked straight at him and punched him in the gut with his right arm.

Aoshi flew out of the forest and landed in a clearing. He completely lost his breath and had to gather himself but by the time he had done that, Kakashi came out of the woods. "Impressive, for an academy student. The trap was rather obvious to one of my calibre but those seals were effective even against me. Had I not been rather well versed in seals my left arm would have been hanging by my side."

He flexed his arm though to show that wasn't the case. "Sadly it would have been rather easy to avoid getting sealed with your current capabilities. Let's try something else." And Kakashi placed Aoshi in a genjutsu.

It was one which he was rather familiar with, the hell viewing technique. For a moment or two he held on under the effects of the jutsu. He watched Kurenai be tortured in front of his eyes, he saw Tenten burn but finally he had enough and hoped that Kakashi had left the area already. He completely stopped the flow of his chakra for a second and released himself out of the technique. To his joy, Kakashi was gone. He had to go find the others!

A few minutes later, he saw a bloodied Tetsuo fight Kakashi in a one on one duel in an open area. Aoshi seriously questioned how stupid his classmate was. Suddenly Kakashi started making hand seals, and it was hand seals Tetsuo recognized as some kind of fire technique. In a fit of panic he looked around until his eyes met Aoshi's.

A bit of fear spread onto Aoshi as he saw the glint in Tetsuo's eyes. "Giant fireball technique!" A massive fireball, twice the size of Aoshi, flew across the open area. Just as Aoshi prepared to intervene, Tetsuo responded by making hand seals himself. "Substitution technique!"

It was all blurry for a split second until Aoshi realised what had happened. The bastard had substituted with him! Because of the way the technique worked, he had literally no time to do anything before he was hit. His clothes burned off his body, his skin scorched and his hair burned off his body as the fireball came upon him.

Aoshi fell to the ground in pain. Intense, massive pain. He had never considered something like this before and did the one thing he could imagine to help himself. He used an experimental seal. Since his storage seals were in a fire-proof pouch, they at least made it. In fact, that pouch was the only piece of clothing he was still wearing. He placed the seal on the side of his head and activated it. Suddenly he felt nothing. What a relief! When he tried to move, he was still stale but he successfully sealed off all of his pain receptors. Well, the receptors still worked, the pulses just didn't reach his brain.

He managed to sit himself up. When he looked at Kakashi, there was just a blank face. As if he didn't care at all what he had done. When Aoshi had finally gotten up, Kakashi went on to attack Akiho, who still hadn't gotten out of the shock of seeing Aoshi get burnt so badly. It was like a scene out of her nightmares after all.

Aoshi saw what was going to happen when Kakashi started using hand seals so he ran over to Akiho and grabbed the perfect storage seal. He placed his hand on her shoulder and took some of her chakra before he unsealed all of the contents of the storage seal.

Kakashi's water wave simply hit the wall of dirt which had all of a sudden popped up.

Akiho didn't take more than necessary so he was currently completely out of chakra. He could only do one thing before he fainted. "Run, Akiho! Run!"

And then he fell to the slightly moist ground. He couldn't even hear Akiho's scream.
