Naruto: The New Sealmaster

Chapter 4: Hatake Kakashi

As the other teams got picked up, he thought about his own. The name of his sensei was familiar, maybe Kurenai mentioned him, maybe he had read it somewhere. Either way that should be a good sign.

His teammates however..he heard a scoff and looked to the side. It was Tetsuo. A rather tall dark haired boy with a long lean face, he seemingly had a sneer painted on. "I'm going to be stuck with a weak little carrot top? Don't stand in my way and I'm sure most things will be sorted by us. Right, Akiho?"

The girl in question had fiery orange hair in two ponytails, she wore some fishnet clothing underneath a long jacket which had a strap by the waist. She nodded at his question. Not as condescending but what she said next was greatly annoying to him no matter what intention it was said with. "You're very pretty Ao-kun. But maybe being a ninja isn't for you. Academics aren't enough in the real ninja life. Can't you get a job in some restaurant instead? Or maybe on some stage or something? Do you know how to sing Ao-kun?"

His eyebrows twitched. He didn't know if she actually wanted to make fun of him, he doubted it since it didn't fit the personality he thought she had, but it was so frustrating to hear. "I think I'll do fine as a shinobi, thank you very much."

Tetsuo laughed at that "Yeah right! I'll take over from my grandfather before you could possibly start doing C-rank missions."

Aoshi walked slowly over to him with a slight glare in his eyes. He put a hand on his shoulder, which confused Tetsuo since he thought he would be attacked.

"We'll see about that." And then Aoshi absorbed almost all of Tetsuo's chakra. It wasn't that much so he wasn't very uncomfortable just holding it in.

Tetsuo fell to the ground and looked up at him surprised "W-what have you done to me? My..my chakra. It's gone!" Aoshi nodded and placed his other hand on the boy's head. He gave him back his chakra before he spoke. "That's how easy it would be for me to deal with you. Remember that." Tetsuo clicked his tongue and jumped back two rows.

Then they sat in silence waiting for their sensei. Five hours later he showed up as if nothing had happened. In front of them now stood a white haired man with a bandana covering one eye and a mask covering basically the rest of his face. With an emotionless voice he spoke out "Oh there you are. I was expecting a team with a bit more enthusiasm. Oh well, let's go."

Aoshi sighed. His sensei clearly wasn't very enthusiastic about getting them as students. Since he didn't tell them where to go, Aoshi assumed the roof was the first place to look. Even if he wasn't there, a high ground would be important so he can spot where Kakashi is headed.

While the other two were still surprised, since their sensei basically just jumped in to say they're boring and then left, Aoshi ran to an open window. He latched on to the top of the window frame and vaulted up so his feet hit the wall above the window. By placing the exact right amount of chakra at the soles of his feet, he managed to walk on the wall all the way up to the rooftop where he saw that their sensei stood with a book in his hand.

Seeing as he didn't know when the other two would show up, he sat down in front of Kakashi. He just spared a glance at Aoshi before getting back to his book.

Aoshi decided to just keep a lookout for when his teammates actually left the building. 10 whole minutes later and he saw them walk out the front door in a confused state so he whistled at them.

As soon as they saw him and the sensei, they also jumped up to join. Tetsuo instantly started chastising Kakashi.

"You make us wait forever and then just disappear without telling us at all where to go. What kind of a sensei are you?"

Kakashi put his book in his pocket and looked at them all individually. "So far, you're very disappointing."

"Introduce yourselves. Name, likes, dislikes and a dream. You first, loudmouth." Tetsuo scoffed but started anyway.

"I'm Shimura Tetsuo. I like my grandfather Danzo, fighting, and putting people in their place. I dislike weaklings who think they're better than you just because they have some tricks." At this he spared a glare at Aoshi who couldn't care less. "My dream is to become the Head of Anbu and eventually an elder of the council. Maybe I'll be Hokage one day." He said that last bit in such a nonchalant way, as if it would be up to his own whimsical thoughts. Aoshi had a hard time containing his annoyance at the guy.

"K. What about you, Ginger?"

She gathered herself and then started with a smile that was clearly something she had rehearsed in front of the mirror. "I'm Kohaku Akiho. I like flowers, fashion, and helping out at the clan. I dislike being looked down upon because my clan doesn't live inside the village..My dream is to have my own fashion brand one day where we make actual good looking ninja gear."

Kakashi nodded, clearly less annoyed at this answer. "What about you then, plant-boy?"

Aoshi raised an eyebrow, but went on with it. "My name is Rokushō Aoshi. I like seals, my friend Tenten, her father, and Auntie Kurenai." Kakashi raised an eyebrow at the familiar name which he didn't expect.

"I dislike people who make poor fast judgements, I dislike my father, and finally I dislike the restrictions on Konoha's library. My dream..well I have a ten step plan, but my main goal is to become a sealmaster so I can bring glory back to my clan's legacy. The Rokushō have been in Uzumaki's shadow for too long, now I have my chance!"

Kakashi hummed at his response and then without feedback of any sort, turned his back on them. "It's getting late, 6 am at training ground 7. Skip breakfast unless you want to throw it up. Be on time." And then he shunshined away.

"Tch. What a hypocrite. He didn't even introduce himself or anything. And then he has the gall to tell US to be on time?" But Aoshi just ignored Tetsuo's ramblings and jumped down from the roof.

While he sat and waited he drew the foundational work on his Daily seal tags so now he just had to finish them up, train for a bit, and then go home to discuss with his aunt.

Three hours later, after some rather intense physical work out, since he was allowed to start on that after becoming a genin, he showed up at Kurenai's.

"I'm home! Hey, Auntie..do you know a guy named Hatake Kakashi?" He yelled from the hallway as he walked towards the kitchen.

"Yeah? Why?" He heard a response from the kitchen as expected. Kurenai almost always cooked for him these days. She spent all morning and day on training and doing missions, but then when the evening came she cooked and ate with her nephew.

Aoshi entered the kitchen to be met with the wonderful smell of beef yakitori. "He's my sensei apparently.."

When she heard that she set down her knife and looked at him with a bit of pity in her eyes. "Kakashi huh? Wonderful ninja, a truly talented one..but he's refused four teams in a row now. I'm afraid you will have a hard time impressing him.."

Aoshi shrugged. "Well at least I'm a genin now, no matter what he thinks." At her reluctant look he started feeling a bit of panic well up "Right? He can't send me back can he?"

She sighed "He can, and most likely will." At this, his face fell. He knew what it meant if he failed to become a genin now. He'd have to wait another half a year before trying again. Half a year less time to become a chunin. He couldn't afford that!

He looked up at her with determination. "I will pass. I have to. I am not losing my legacy. That house is important."

She gave him a smile. The mood of the room had changed drastically when he showed such passion. "What's so important about that house? Is it just because your ancestors lived there?"

He looked at her confused. "Didn't you know? That house and those grounds have been there since before Konoha was around. The basement is supposedly the most perfect sealing spot imaginable. It was once the creative workshop of our clan. Now, father has sold off everything he can, but he can't take away the history or the rooms themselves. He had restricted my access though. I've never been allowed down there. Currently only the patriarch is allowed. And even then only if he can solve a seal puzzle."

She smiled at him. "Then rest today. Have a nice breakfast tomorrow and then go surprise the man."

The next morning he woke up early to prepare a nice light breakfast. No way was he going to be tested on an empty stomach, he'd have small chakra reserves as it is without starving his body.

He said goodbye to his aunt and walked over to training ground number 7. He reached it right on time but just like the day before, his sensei wasn't there. His teammates were though. The cocky grin on Tetsuo's face told him that he had something planned so Aoshi just sat down against a wooden pole and relaxed. He looked at the two of them and greeted them. "Good morning. Everyone had a bite to eat?"

Tetsuo clicked his tongue. "No, of course not. We were told not to." Aoshi looked at him with a deadpan expression. "So you'd rather train with a starving body than risk the small chance that you vomit? Considering how late he was yesterday we're bound to sit here waiting for a long time."

Tetsuo's grin faltered and Aoshi brought out a couple of fruits for them both. "You can take some fruits to eat at least. It's not much but it's something."

Akiho hesitated but was about to reach out for a fruit before Tetsuo started yelling. "No! I won't let you fool me into humiliating myself in front of our sensei. You're just trying to make yourself look better by bringing me down!"

Aoshi sighed and mumbled "As if you need help with that.." but then he put the fruits in a seal on his waist. "Suit yourself, but I hope you have something to entertain yourself with while we wait."

Aoshi took out a book Kurenai had given him on his last birthday. It was a book on simple nature transformations and the theory surrounding it. Not exactly a fun read but if he ever got his body up to scratch, this would be very useful. He also had a children's book from the old Uzushiogakure Kurenai managed to get a hold of. Since they had the same bloodline powers as him, he figured the stories might have some inspiration. If not, then it was at least of historical interest, perhaps it could even be an enjoyable read.

The following five hours were spent by Tetsuo and Akiho just waiting and talking to each other. Once or twice they sparred a little. Most of the time they were simply bored out of their minds. Aoshi wasn't. The children's stories, while rather useless, were very interesting. They even had some portraying the start of the clan and the village. They were vastly different from the stories his own clan had of course, but that's what made them interesting.

His clan spoke of a delinquent who wanted nothing but the destruction of his own clan until they exiled him. The Uzumaki stories didn't name him but it was clearly the same person they were speaking of. Their stories, however, spoke of a guy who was different from the rest of his clan and was mistreated because of it. He was locked inside and they pulled experiments on him until one day when the clan was in a fight against the Senju. The man escaped from the prison with the help of a young Senju woman, who he instantly fell for.

Aoshi wondered which story was the real one. He would never know of course but it was safe to assume that some of the spite in the Rokushō stories came from jealousy. They were clearly jealous that the new Uzumaki family became so much more successful. There was proof that techniques, seals, and literature were stolen though, so clearly no side was without fault in these stories.

While Aoshi laid back and considered what happened long ago, their sensei finally showed up. "Oh, so you're all here. Let's get started then."
