Chapter 9: Designation
Chapter 9: Designation
"Hey—" The playground
buzzed with excitement as the students all yelled in unison.
"Okay, okay!" The
teacher pressed his hands together and said, "Today we will follow a new
rule. Everyone can choose an opponent. We have twenty-five matches, so let's
make this quick."
Everyone can choose an opponent?
Isn't it usually the teacher who designates the opponents? This seemed
interesting! So, who should I choose? Kiba wondered, secretly taking out the
remaining half of his steamed bun and glancing around while chewing.
Hirohiko Uchiha? Kiba quietly
locked onto his target. If he wanted to attract attention, he needed to
challenge the best in their grade.
"That's good! I'm going to
pick Hirohiko!" As soon as the teacher finished speaking, a little boy
raised his hand and walked out, pointing at Uchiha Hirohiko in the crowd.
"Hey, Ohno, what are you
doing? You're the tail of the crane!" Immediately, a group of students
shouted.
The boy named Ohno curled his lips
in disdain and thought, "You idiots, if you lose to Hirohiko, your parents
won't criticize you at home. If you lose to the top student, even your parents
can't say anything!"
"Okay!" The teacher
approved the duel.
Kiba looked at Ohno, then at
Hirohiko Uchiha, who walked out slowly. "A step slower... well, let's see
how strong Uchiha Hirohiko really is."
After completing the seal of
opposites, the teacher announced the beginning.
In an instant, Uchiha Hirohiko
pressed Ohno to the ground and placed a kunai around Ohno's neck. The outcome
was decided in a flash.
Ohno was so frightened he broke
out in a cold sweat, his face pale. After all, with a flickering kunai around
his neck, who wouldn't be scared?
"Uchiha Hirohiko, wins!"
the teacher announced.
Uchiha Hirohiko put away his kunai
with a cold expression and stood up slowly. Ohno also stood up, trembling.
After completing the seal of
reconciliation, the two walked back into the crowd separately. Ohno's body
still shook, cold sweat dripping down, his face terribly pale.
"Murderous look... Is Uchiha
Hirohiko already stained with blood?" Kiba put down his steamed bun and
frowned. Moreover, it was so fast to subdue Ohno with one move! Genius, truly
cannot be underestimated!
Kiba originally thought that with
his acquisition of the Eight Gates technique, even though he only had three
gates, he could already crush this group of students. But now it seemed that
this Uchiha Hirohiko was not so easy to defeat.
"Who will go next?" the
teacher asked.
"I..." As soon as the
teacher finished speaking, a clear voice was heard, and Hyuga Yukina walked out
of the crowd.
The teacher nodded and said,
"You choose an opponent."
"Is it time for Hirohiko and
Yukina to decide the outcome so soon?" a little boy asked, excitement
gleaming in his eyes as he anticipated the duel between Hyuga Yukina and Uchiha
Hirohiko.
"You don't need to ask. It
must be Hirohiko. Besides him, who else here can defeat Yukina?" another
boy said.
"Yeah, Yukina doesn't like
fighting weak opponents; only Hirohiko stands a chance."
"Hey, tell me, if Yukina
fights Hirohiko, what will be the outcome?"
"Well, the current record
between Yukina and Hirohiko is three to one, with Hirohiko winning three
matches. Of course, it's Hirohiko."
"However, Yukina is very
powerful too."
"Of course, can Yukina not be
strong? No one can beat her except Hirohiko!"
And then there were the girls.
"Oh, it's Yukina and Hirohiko
again." A girl sighed, her tone full of sourness.
"Tell me, are Hirohiko and
Yukina dating? I often see them walking together after school." The girls
obviously cared more about the topic of love than practicing duels.
"What nonsense, it's just
that the Hyuga family and the Uchiha family are on the same path!" another
girl countered.
"But look at them, Hirohiko
is so handsome, Yukina is so beautiful, and both are so powerful," a
female voice said, frustration lacing her tone.
All the girls looked at Yukina and
felt sad—they couldn't compare! Then they looked at Hirohiko again. Ah!
Awesome! The girls suddenly felt jealous.
"I want to choose..."
Hyuga Yukina glanced at everyone, her gaze lingering on Uchiha Hirohiko.
It really is Hirohiko! Everyone
had that expression.
Hirohiko Uchiha frowned slightly.
He knew Yukina's strength very well—it was very strong, far beyond the weaker
students. To fight her, he had to put in all his effort.
"Taki Kiba!" Hyuga
Yukina declared.
Taki Kiba? All the students were
stunned, then an uproar followed!
"What! Taki Kiba?" the
students shouted in unison.
The eldest lady chose Taki Kiba,
the traitor's son? Is he powerful?
"Impossible! Fourth to last,
Taki Kiba is also the tail of the crane! What's wrong with Yukina?" Ohno,
having recovered, shook his head in disbelief upon hearing Yukina's choice. As
the last one, he was very aware of the rankings and knew Kiba's position well.
The girls were disappointed. Why
didn't Yukina choose Hirohiko? They couldn't see his handsome fighting posture
anymore! Pity!
Uchiha Hirohiko was also slightly
taken aback. He turned around slowly, looking at Kiba, who was picking up his
steamed bun and preparing to eat it. Kiba was very surprised. Yukina chose him
as her opponent? Just kidding!
Hirohiko Uchiha found it
unbelievable. It wasn't because of conceit—he genuinely thought that only he
could fight Yukina. Kiba looked ordinary no matter how you saw it. His body
skills, shuriken skills, and Three Basic Jutsus performances were all very average,
if not terrible! Hirohiko had paid attention to every classmate and knew their
strengths. Taki Kiba was definitely one of the weakest.
Yukina would completely crush him!
Why did she choose him?
Not to mention Hirohiko, even Kiba
was surprised and forgot to take another bite of his steamed bun. He never
thought Yukina would choose him as her opponent.
"Taki Kiba, step
forward," the teacher said, also a little surprised. He knew Hyuga
Yukina's character well—she was a serious genius, though slightly inferior to
Uchiha Hirohiko, still an exceptional talent. In private, he was very
optimistic about her.
As for Taki Kiba, despite his
background, his performance was nothing remarkable, mediocre, or even poor. He
was considered a weak student. His shuriken and Three Basic Jutsus weren't even
as good as Ohno's. If not for his slightly better physical skills, Taki Kiba
would be ranked last.
This Taki Kiba's strength was at
most on par with Ohno's.
Oh! So that's it! The teacher
suddenly understood. Yukina had been competing with Hirohiko all the time!
Seeing Hirohiko defeating Ohno in seconds, she was not convinced and wanted to
defeat Taki Kiba in one move! I see!
The teacher's surprised expression
changed to one of understanding. By then, Kiba was already standing in front of
Yukina, and they had formed the seal of opposition.
Alas, poor Taki Kiba, becoming a
victim of the rivalry between geniuses! The teacher sighed inwardly, then
announced, "Begin!"
