Chapter 5: Reinforcements
Chapter 5 Reinforcments.
Kiba panted heavily, a wry smile on his lips. He was utterly exhausted; all his chakra had been consumed, and he couldn't refine any more. The Shadow Clone and Transformation techniques he had just used had depleted the last of his chakra.
Despite his condition, Kiba still stood, admiring his tenacity. He could barely feel his limbs yet remained upright. After confirming the ninja was truly dead, he finally let go of the tension in his heart. Then, a wave of nausea hit him.
After all, this was Kiba's first time killing someone. He had lived in a peaceful age in his previous life and had never witnessed a murder before. Feeling sick was normal, but a wave of fear accompanied the nausea. The details of the recent battle flooded his mind. A slight error could have meant their deaths. If the eldest lady hadn't used the Substitution Jutsu in time, if she hadn't seen the burnt wood, or if his kunai dodging hadn't been precise, they would have died.
"Are you okay…" Hyuga Yukina stepped forward to help Kiba when a stern voice suddenly interrupted: "Miss, get out of the way! Taki Kiba! You actually helped the enemy ninja! Traitor! You truly are a traitor!"
"Aggression!"
Four kunai flew into the ground in front of Kiba, detonation tags igniting.
"Fuck!"
Kiba looked at the four kunai at his feet as the tags burst into flames with a "chi" sound.
This was going to kill him!
Desperately, Kiba tried to move his feet, but he had no strength left. How could he dodge?
He didn't die at the hands of the enemy but at the hands of his own people!
Pooh!
What own people?
Kiba cursed inwardly.
The tags exploded with a "bang," triggering a chain reaction. The other three kunai exploded simultaneously with a "boom," and a fireball engulfed Kiba instantly.
In the next second, two figures tumbled out of the fireball, scorched smoke billowing from their bodies.
It was Kiba and Hyuga Yukina!
After rolling several times, Kiba felt dizzy. When they finally stopped, it felt like a heavy object was pressing on his chest. He looked down to see Hyuga Yukina lying on his chest, burnt smoke rising from her back, and the smell of burning flesh permeating the air. Her eyes were tightly closed, her face pained, but she seemed to have passed out.
Kiba was slightly taken aback.
She saved me?
At that moment, a young man wearing Hyuga attire came sprinting, followed by several figures jumping out of the forest and landing behind him.
"Miss!" The boy ran over anxiously. When he saw the scorched black on Hyuga Yukina's back, he glared at Kiba fiercely with his Byakugan, as if Hyuga Yukina's injury was Kiba's fault, wishing to swallow him alive.
Kiba felt the young man's gaze but didn't pay attention to it. He had mixed feelings. Scenes from the battle flashed in his mind: Hyuga Yukina flying towards him, standing in front of him when it exploded, blocking the blast, and pushing him out of the explosion.
Fortunately, she blocked the explosion. Otherwise, Kiba would have died. She had saved his life.
Seeing Hyuga Yukina lying on his chest with her eyes closed, Kiba moved his lips but said nothing. In his previous life, he was bullied, and no one stood up for him. His relatives and friends were all subdued under the oppressor's power. Until his death, no one extended a finger to rescue him.
But now, a girl was willing to risk her life to save him.
Kiba had mixed feelings.
"You traitor!" The white-eyed boy suddenly pulled out a kunai and, with an angry glare at Kiba, was about to stab him.
"Stop!" A low shout was heard, and simultaneously, the white-eyed boy's hand was grabbed. Despite his efforts to stab, the hand firmly held him back. Kiba turned to see a white-haired boy with a mask over his mouth preventing the attack.
Hatake Kakashi!
Kiba's pupils shrank slightly.
"Hyuga Yutaka, he is the benefactor who saved Yukina. Calm down!" Kakashi shouted again, using more force. Hyuga Yutaka winced in pain, the kunai falling from his grip. Kakashi held him firmly.
Hyuga Yutaka glanced around, seeing several adult Hyuga clansmen looking at him in surprise. The situation was clear: if Taki Kiba were a village traitor, why would Miss Yukina risk her life to save him? And judging from the situation, it seemed Kiba had killed the ninja and saved Miss Yukina.
This usually calm Master Yutaka seemed a bit abnormal. Under everyone's gaze, he reluctantly said to Kiba: "I'm sorry. I was too worried about Yukina and lost my mind."
Listening to Hyuga Yutaka's reluctant apology, Kiba naturally ignored it. He was going to kill me, so don't use Yukina as an excuse!
Kiba knew very well that Hyuga Yutaka understood the situation but still tried to kill him. He was clearly on their side.
This guy really wants to kill me! The excuse he yelled would be used to justify his actions, making people believe he misunderstood. Anyway, I am a traitor's son. If I died, he'd only face minor punishment. And with no relatives or reasons to protect me, no one would trouble him.
This Hyuga Yutaka is so vicious!
Kiba quietly remembered this Hyuga Yutaka, and at the same time, looked at Hyuga Yukina. So, her name is Yukina, Hyuga Yukina, a beautiful name. I'll remember it.
However, why does this name sound familiar?
As he was thinking, Kiba felt his body lighten. He looked up to see Hyuga Yukina being held by Hyuga Yutaka, who said, "Let's go!"
He glanced at Kiba and took off, the others following, leaving only Kiba and Kakashi behind.
Kakashi checked him and said, "It's just exhaustion and some burns, but nothing serious."
As for Kiba, he remembered the look Hyuga Yutaka had before leaving.
Damn, this kid still wants to kill me! I'll need to be careful and find a chance to deal with him in the future!
"You're amazing!" Kakashi glanced at Iwaki Shin and said to Kiba.
Though he was a seriously injured Jonin, he was still a Jonin. How did this guy kill him?
Is that big hole the work of the invading Jonin, or the person in front of him?
Kakashi thought.
Seeing the sincere admiration in Kakashi's eyes, Kiba didn't speak, still thinking about Hyuga Yutaka.
Kakashi didn't press further, checking on Iwaki instead. For ninjas, corpses were valuable. After confirming Iwaki's death, he grabbed his collar and dragged him back. The kunai in the heart was the fatal blow.
Hmm... what method did he use?
Kakashi passed the rock pillar prison and the ground crack, frowning slightly, thinking and analyzing. He also became interested in Kiba.
"That…" Kiba's voice sounded.
"Huh?" Kakashi stopped walking.
"Can you carry me back? My home is on the other side of the dense forest," Kiba said with a wry smile.
"Oh! Sorry, I was going to carry you back." Kakashi picked up Kiba, dragged Iwaki's dead body, and walked into the dense forest.
Kiba felt his stomach pressed against a solid shoulder.
It's so uncomfortable… I feel like I'm going to vomit…
