Naruto: The God of Bloodlines

Chapter 8: Obito and Rin

Yasu quickly headed to the village to find Obito and Rin. Upon arriving, he couldn't find Rin anywhere but soon spotted Obito eating barbecue at a restaurant, so he decided to approach him.

"Yasu! It's been so long since I've seen you. How have you been?" Obito asked when he saw Yasu entering the restaurant.

"I'm doing great! I've made some progress in my training. And you? Have you become the hero of the village after defeating many enemies in the war?" Yasu asked with a smile.

"Not yet. It's hard to stand out in the war when I have to protect Rin. Besides, Minato-sensei is so impressive that it's difficult to keep up with him. But when I awaken my Sharingan, I'll be able to protect Rin and fight alongside him," Obito said enthusiastically.

"You'll achieve it, Obito. Maybe in the future, you'll even awaken the Mangekyou Sharingan and become one of the strongest shinobi in the world," Yasu replied, smiling.

"That's tough. Only the legendary Uchiha Madara managed to do that, and he was the strongest shinobi, capable of facing the Shodaime Hokage. If I awaken the Mangekyou Sharingan, I could become Hokage and help the village," Obito said, animated by the thought.

Yasu didn't know how to respond when he heard Obito say he'd become Hokage and help the village upon awakening the Mangekyou Sharingan. Knowing Obito's future, and as his friend, it was hard for Yasu to imagine how much he would change after Rin's death and under Madara's manipulation.

"Who knows? Maybe you could become the Godaime Hokage, Obito, because Minato-sensei will probably be the Yondaime Hokage," Yasu suggested.

"I hope Minato-sensei does become the Yondaime Hokage. That way, he can help me in the future to become the Godaime Hokage when he grows older," Obito said hopefully.

Yasu once again didn't know what to say, knowing that Obito would be the main cause of Minato and Kushina's premature deaths. Obito had unleashed the Kyuubi's rampage, leading to the tragedy.

When Yasu first arrived in this world, he had considered not getting close to Obito, Rin, or other characters from the anime whose fates he knew involved death or villainy. But upon living in this world as a child and seeing these characters as real people and not animated figures, it became hard to remain detached.

This was especially true since most of his peers at the ninja academy ignored him for his limited chakra and inability to perform jutsus. As a result, Yasu formed close bonds with Guy, Obito, and Rin, and he hoped to grow closer to Kakashi if possible.

Yasu felt conflicted knowing it would be difficult to gain enough power to prevent Rin's death and Obito's defection. He had initially abandoned the idea, but recently, after his rigorous training, it seemed more achievable in the coming months.

Yasu had tried to subtly warn Obito and Rin about what might happen, but it was challenging to explain without providing explicit details. Moreover, despite their maturity, they were still children, making it hard for them to grasp the indirect warnings Yasu gave.

The main strategy Yasu considered was forging a strong relationship with Minato to share his concerns. Minato had the power and influence to protect Obito and Rin if he knew what was coming.

However, even though Minato seemed like a kind and humble person in the anime, in reality, he paid little attention to Yasu. This was likely because Minato was incredibly busy with the Third Ninja War and the immense pressure it brought.

Since Minato rarely interacted with him, it was challenging for Yasu to find an opportunity to warn him. Yasu even considered claiming to possess a Kekkei Genkai that allowed him to see the future as a way to convince Minato of the looming dangers.

But unfortunately, after gaining physical strength and chakra through the system, Minato and Kakashi became the people Yasu most wanted to hide his newfound abilities from. They were close to the Third Hokage, loyal to the village, and would likely report that Yasu had been pretending to be weak in the past to avoid the war.

Contrary to his earlier thoughts, without the strength or abilities to defend himself, Yasu admitted to himself that he was too cowardly to risk his life for others. So, even if he could potentially convince Minato and save Obito and Rin, he wouldn't risk his own survival for it.

"Obito, did you manage to get closer to Rin over the past few months? Without Kakashi around and with you two risking your lives in the war, this was a great chance to strengthen your bond with her," Yasu asked.

"Eh… I haven't been able to confess to Rin. I think she might know I'm in love with her, but I just couldn't say it. Still, I feel like we've grown even closer in these past months," Obito said, a bit embarrassed.

"You need the courage to confess to Rin. You want to become Hokage, and to achieve that, you need at least the courage to tell the person you love how you feel, Obito. Awakening the Sharingan won't give you that courage," Yasu said seriously.

"I know, you're right. Next time we're in the war, I'll find the opportunity to tell Rin that I love her!" Obito said with determination.

Yasu didn't know what to say to Obito. He himself had little experience with relationships in his past life, but it was hard to watch how Obito always tried to stay close to Rin, was jealous of her, yet lacked the courage to confess his feelings.

In the past, it might have been different since they were children, but now Obito was 12 years old. That was old enough to start dating, even in Yasu's previous world. In Naruto's world, there were people who used to marry at the age of 12 in earlier times.

"Yasu, I'm heading back home now. Why don't you come with me like before? You're the only friend I can bring to the Uchiha district," Obito said.
