Chapter 6: Training Taijutsu
Guy trusted Yasu and followed him to the Forest of Death. He was curious to see how Yasu had become stronger and how much strength he had gained over the past few months.
When they reached the area where Yasu usually trained, Yasu said with a smile, "Let's have a friendly sparring match. Just don't use your full strength so you don't accidentally hurt me."
"Alright, I want to see how much stronger you've become," Guy replied, smiling.
The two began fighting at a slow pace. Both used the standard speed for shinobi, and Guy held back significantly, not using much strength. Even so, Yasu could only defend himself, as he had no combat experience.
After a few exchanges, Guy was already very surprised. He realized Yasu was at least 100 times stronger than before. This made Guy extremely happy, reaffirming his belief that hard work always paid off.
"You've gotten so much stronger, Yasu. Let's see your current limits," Guy said with a grin.
Guy then started moving several times faster. Yasu managed to dodge some of Guy's kicks and block a few punches, relying on his reflexes. Even so, some of Guy's attacks still landed on him.
Yasu could see that Guy wasn't even fighting seriously, yet he was still much stronger than him—despite the fact that Guy was using 12,000 kilograms of weights on his body while sparring.
After a while, Guy stopped attacking when he noticed Yasu was quite injured, even though he hadn't used his full capabilities.
But Guy wasn't disappointed. On the contrary, he was deeply impressed by Yasu's incredible progress in just a few months. Guy even thought that, with a bit more taijutsu training, Yasu might have been able to survive the Third Ninja War.
"Yasu, this is incredible! How did you become so strong in just a few months?" Guy asked curiously.
"I'm not sure. It seems like a few months ago, my body started to grow stronger. I think I must have broken through some kind of barrier that allowed me to finally reap the results of my six years of training," Yasu said, sharing a partial truth.
"That must be it! I told you that with lots of training, effort, and youthful spirit, you could become as strong as our more talented peers," Guy said excitedly.
"You were right, Guy. But after so many years of training without results, I started to doubt whether I could really become a good shinobi like you," Yasu admitted.
"Now you can become a shinobi like me. But why aren't you wearing your village headband yet? With your current strength, you're almost as strong as some of the chunin in the village. You should already be able to become a genin, just like I was," Guy said, confused.
"I don't think now is a good time, Guy. You know me well and trust me, but some people in the village might think I was hiding my abilities out of fear of participating in the Third Ninja War.
"If that happened, I might be sent on a very dangerous mission as punishment and end up dying because of it. Besides, I still have a lot to train. Even though I've gotten stronger, I have no experience and don't know how to fight," Yasu explained.
Although Guy might seem simple, he was also intelligent enough to be a good jonin and think quickly about how to survive on the battlefield.
He could understand that what Yasu said might really happen in the village. Even though Guy trusted the Third Hokage, he knew that in times of war, such minor issues might not even be decided by the Hokage.
Guy trusted Yasu, and he had already seen many of his classmates from the ninja academy lose their lives in the Third Ninja War. He didn't want Yasu to end up dead as well because of a misunderstanding by the village.
"You're right, Yasu. You've always been smart; that's why you decided to train in secret in the Forest of Death," said Guy.
"Thank you for understanding, Guy. I also wanted to ask you to teach me how to fight. I want to learn taijutsu from you because, in the future, I want to help protect the village," Yasu said seriously.
"Of course! I'll teach you everything I know about taijutsu. In the future, we'll show everyone how our youth can surpass the talent of other geniuses!" Guy said enthusiastically.
Yasu felt a bit guilty because, with the system, he would eventually acquire multiple Kekkei Genkai and become one of those "geniuses" Guy mentioned once he awakened the Sharingan. However, since he hadn't awakened any Kekkei Genkai yet, he couldn't say anything to Guy, even if he wanted to.
Still, even with all the Kekkei Genkai he would have in the future, Yasu intended to use everything he learned from Guy in battles to become a stronger shinobi. It was true that Yasu would work much harder than the so-called geniuses.
Soon, Guy began teaching Yasu. Despite being the same age, Guy already possessed some of the teaching skills he would refine in the future. Yasu was also hardworking and intelligent, quickly grasping the lessons.
---
Several days passed after Guy started teaching Yasu. Guy was astonished by how quickly Yasu learned everything he taught; he rarely had to explain things twice.
Guy could see Yasu's improvement even more clearly during their friendly sparring sessions, which they always had after training. These sessions helped Yasu learn better and were also beneficial for Guy, who rarely found someone capable of keeping up with him.
Guy thought it was a shame that Yasu had wasted years unable to improve because of his "barrier." If not for that, Guy believed Yasu could have been as strong as he was during the Third Ninja War.
"Should I teach Yasu the inner gates? He already has the foundation for it, and it could help make him much stronger," Guy wondered to himself.
