Chapter 23: Chapter 023: Preparing For Departure
On the next day, early in the morning, Asahi came to Konoha Hospital again, preparing to rely on his connections in there, and take a little medicine such as hemostatic bandages and antidotes. These things were very precious natural resources on battlefield, at some specific moments they could also play a lifesaving role.
"Hey, Asahi kid, why did you come so early today? Don't you have a perform to mission?"
As soon as he entered Konoha Hospital, Asahi heard a carefree voice. Looking back, it turned out to be Tsunade.
"Tsunade nee-san, you're here so early?"
Thanks to working more than two years here, Asahi and Tsunade were already considered to be quite familiar with each other. Coupled with Asahi's initiative, the relationship between the two was quite harmonious.
"I'm going to the Land of Wind to execute a mission right away. I was planning to come over and get some hemostatic bandages and antidotes. Maybe it will be of some use." Asahi said in a naive tone.
With Tsunade's status in the village, she must have known about the conflict between Konoha and Sunagakure, especially about Chiyo of Sunagakure, Tsunade's old opponent.
So Asahi deliberately revealed that he was going to perform a mission in the Land of Wind, indirectly saying that he was going to the battlefield. Tsunade's younger brother and lover died in the Second Great Ninja War, so this topic would definitely touch the softest part of her heart, even if she was acting normally right now.
Sure enough, when hearing Asahi's words, Tsunade's expression became a little desolate, apparently thinking of some memories that made her sad.
Although using a woman's emotional weakness to deceive her, might be considered to be very despicable, but Asahi really had no other way right now.
Asahi wanted to survive and become strong, he must have an outstanding shinbi to guide his training and impart their experience. But still this was not the right way to find a master after all. If he does anything slightly wrong, he might waste years.
If Asahi was born in a noble clan like Uchiha or the Hyuga, of course, there would be no need to worry about such things. But Asahi was just a war orphan. There was no other way for him, except to learn from an already powerful ninja.
From Yamamoto to Ueno, without their guidance, Asahi would not have achieved his level today.
"What are you going to do in the Land of Wind?" Tsunade frowned and asked.
"To complete a mission." Asahi said.
"The Land of Wind is a very dangerous place right now, don't go there!" Tsunade looked seriously at Asahi, and said angrily.
"That won't work, I'm a chunin of the village. How can I abandon a mission?" Asahi pretended to be dissatisfied and said in a serious tone, "Furthermore, if I can make a contribution this time, maybe I can be promoted by the village and become a Jonin. If that happens then I will be one step closer to become Hokage."
"..."
Tsunade hearing this was silenced. She gloomily looked at Asahi, not showing what she was thinking.
Tsunade of this period, had seen many of her loved ones die for that Hokage's seat. Contradictions have appeared in her heart, otherwise, she would not leave Konoha later, and take Shizune to travel around the shinobi world.
"If you think you're good enough to face death, then go!" After a while, Tsunade suddenly said angrily, then turned and left.
"Tsunade nee-san...!" Asahi shouted in the back, and only slightly shook his head until Tsunade's silhouette disappeared.
Asahi had analyzed Tsunade's mentality for too long, and of course could understand her mood at the moment. The First Hokage, The Second Hokage, her lover Kato Dan, her brother Nawaki, they all died for that title called 'Hokage'. And at this moment, Tsunade heard someone willing to risk his life for the title of 'Hokage' again, of course she couldn't calm down.
However, Asahi knew better. In Tsunade's mind, in fact, she still cared about the title 'Hokage'. After all, that word was the goal of all of Tsunade's loved ones.
No matter how angry Tsunade was feeling right now, deep in her heart she would definitely have a good impression of those who chase the title of 'Hokage'.
When the person who managed the medicines was found, Asahi stepped forward and said, "Mei nee-san, I'm going out of the village to execute a mission right now. I wonder if you could get me a hemostatic bandage and some antidotes."
"That's not okay!" Mei slightly smiled, shaking her head, she refused, "Every use of medicines in the hospital is recorded, and I can't give it away casually. If this gets found out, I will be punished."
"There are so many patients in the hospital, what if you just write it down on a few people, no one will find out," Asahi said.
"No, I can't do anything against the rules." Mei once again refused.
"Oh… Looks like I will be coming back without arms and legs this time" Asahi sighed, pretending to be lost.
"Okay, okay, don't act so sad. I'm just joking with you." Seeing Asahi sighing and looking sad, Mei covered mouth and laughed, and then said, "Say, how much you need, if it is too much, it will be found out."
"I'm really grateful for your help." Asahi said with a smile.
Although such things as hemostatic bandages could be bought outside, some urgent treatment medicines and some special-purpose medicines were not readily available.
Especially for things like antidotes, Sunagakure was good at poisoning, puppeteers even feed poison to all of their weapons, and so to have hand to hand combat with someone from Sunagakure, antidotes were definitely a necessity.
"Why do you need so many antidotes?" Seeing Asahi took a dozen different antidotes, Mei curiously asked.
"The execution of this mission is likely to cause a close combat against Sunagakure ninjas, so with more antidote, I'll be completely prepared!" Asahi explained.
Although the ninja manual stipulates that it was not acceptable to disclose the mission content to outsiders, Asahi never cared about it, as long as it was in his favor, sometimes it's good to disclose some mission content.
Sometimes he felt more and more despicable about his way of doing things, but this was the way Asahi chose to be, and no matter what, he must keep going.
"Thank you again, Mei nee-san."
"You're welcome, be careful while executing this mission. I don't want to see you lying on the hospital bed without arms or legs."
"Understood!"
With the medicines he needed already prepared, Asahi left Konoha Hospital and was ready to go to the forest behind the Hokage Rock for training.
But just after walking out of the door of Konoha Hospital, Asahi saw a short hair little girl guarding the door.
"Shizune, why are you standing at the door and not going in?" Asahi asked.
"Humph Asahi here you are! This is what Tsunade-sama told me to give to you!" Shizune gave him a glance, and said with a snort lightly.
Taking over the scroll from Shizune, Asahi said strangely, "What is this?"
"Tsunade-sama told me to give it to you, how would I know. You will understand if you go back and open it." Shizune said angrily.
"So it's like that, thank you, please thank Tsunade nee-san for me." He said with a smile.
Shizune, this little girl, had lost all her loved ones and was very dependent on Tsunade, and Asahi was to her a bad guy who robs Tsunade of her care...
"Humph!" Shizune lightly snorted, turned and left.
'Sure enough, girls do change when they grow older', Asahi didn't expect that the gentle Shizune in the original anime, would be such a pampered girl in her childhood.
"But what is this scroll?" Asahi wandered.
Asahi had a faint feeling that after these two years of hard work he was going to witness the results that day.
