Chapter 65: Chapter 65: The Unexpected Power of the Tenkyo-no-Kami

"Mangekyou Sharingan?"

"So you really awakened the Mangekyou Sharingan!"

Danzo's heart pounded as he stared into the mysterious patterns in Mirai's eyes. It had been so many years since someone wielded this level of ocular power. No wonder Mirai could defeat the Fourth Raikage and eliminate the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. With these eyes, anything seemed possible.

"Danzo, you seem to have known all along," Mirai said, raising an eyebrow, suddenly grasping what was going on. Back in the Hokage's office, he'd found it odd that Hiruzen's condition was for him to contribute on the battlefield. But now, it was clear: Hiruzen likely wanted to force him into intense battles, hoping the repeated use of his Mangekyou would eventually render him blind.

"That sly old fox…" Mirai scoffed. If it were an unsuspecting Uchiha activating the Mangekyou for the first time, they might have fallen for Hiruzen's scheme. In fact, even knowing that prolonged fighting could gradually blind them, most people wouldn't be able to avoid it.

But he wasn't like others. He possessed the Uzumaki's Body, capable of replenishing the Mangekyou's ocular energy. Additionally, with his system's ability to plunder Mental Strength points, he could keep his eye power constantly growing. In a way, he already had an "eternal Mangekyou Sharingan." Hiruzen's plan was bound to fail.

Understanding this, Mirai refocused his gaze on Danzo.

"Uchiha Mirai… what do you intend to do?" Danzo, who feared nothing, involuntarily stepped back. If he'd known Mirai had this much audacity—to openly attack him in the village—he would've come better prepared. At the very least, he wouldn't have brought only two guards. After all, an Uchiha with the Mangekyou Sharingan was a far greater threat.

"Danzo, you've crossed the line one too many times. It's time I taught you a lesson." Mirai's face was expressionless as he drew his sword and charged without hesitation.

"You brat, don't think I'm afraid of you!" Danzo growled, forming hand signs at lightning speed.

"Wind Release: Vacuum Bullets!" A barrage of wind bullets shot toward Mirai, silent and invisible. To an ordinary shinobi, they would be imperceptible, but Mirai could track each bullet's trajectory effortlessly, evading them with ease. Within seconds, he was in front of Danzo, swinging his blade.

Danzo leapt backward, but—

Slash!

Blood spurted, and an arm hit the ground. Danzo's eyes widened in horror. He'd already created distance—how had he ended up right in front of Mirai again?

"It's his Mangekyou ability!" In the split-second exchange, Danzo had already lost an arm. Gritting his teeth, he threw down smoke bombs, disappearing in a Body Flicker Technique. Watching Danzo retreat in disarray, Mirai allowed himself a small smile of satisfaction.

Just as Danzo had stepped back, he'd activated his left eye's ability: Takamagahara, reversing time around Danzo back to the moment before his retreat. The slash that should have missed instead severed Danzo's arm.

"Amazing…" Mirai thought, pleased. His eye power in battle was even more formidable than he'd anticipated. Though Danzo's character was questionable, his strength was undoubtedly Kage-level, yet Mirai had felt no pressure fighting him. He had to revise his previous assessment, even Kamui couldn't compare to his ocular power.

However, using this area-wide time reversal strained his eyes severely. Wiping away a line of blood that had trickled from his left eye, Mirai gave a wry smile. If not for his Body and plundering system, he wouldn't dare use his eye powers so freely. A few more times like this, and he'd be as blind as a bat.

In a dark, damp cave beneath Konoha, Danzo clutched his shoulder, glaring at the smooth, severed edge where his arm had been. The recent fight with Mirai replayed in his mind, but he still couldn't figure out how Mirai had managed to cut off his arm.

"The Fourth Raikage's arm… that brat probably used the same method to sever it," he muttered. "As expected of the Mangekyou Sharingan—its power is strange and unfathomable." Danzo's eyes burned with desire. If he could obtain a pair of Mangekyou Sharingan, the Hokage's seat would be as good as his. But Mirai's power had already surpassed his imagination. Until he understood Mirai's Mangekyou abilities, he wouldn't dare face that boy again.

"Hmph! Let him bask in his power for now. When he finally loses his sight, I'll make him understand the meaning of true suffering." Danzo sneered, deciding to bide his time. This battle had cost him two elite subordinates and an arm. For now, it was better to follow Hiruzen's plan—let Mirai exhaust his eyes, rendering him a toothless tiger.

The wicked Uchiha clan didn't deserve such power!

Resolved, Danzo ordered one of his Root subordinates, "Summon Orochimaru. And tell him to bring surgical materials."

"Yes!"

Once he was alone, Danzo's gaze darkened. Today's battle had made him feel the threat of death for the first time, prompting him to consider new ways to safeguard his life. Orochimaru had once suggested using Sharingan to control Hashirama cells and employing the Sharingan's forbidden technique—Izanagi—to rewrite any unfavorable reality, even death itself.

Until now, he'd avoided Orochimaru's proposal due to mistrust, but his priorities were shifting. Humans were far too fragile. He couldn't afford to die before achieving his goal of becoming Hokage. Besides, the only power that could stand against the Mangekyou was an even stronger Wood Release.

His current strength wasn't enough. If Orochimaru's claims held true, he might even rival the legendary Hashirama himself.
