Chapter 2: Graduation
… 7 years later.
It was near the end of the year and the graduation tests were on the doors. Orient was meditating in the garden, and his insects were returning from the hunt. "another spring, no new species,". He stood, walked home, took a shower, and went to check on his mother.
She was cooking, "done training?" she said. "yeah, done cooking?". She shook her head. "I'm going for a walk, okay?". "have fun," she hummed.
It was calm and silent outside, and the dusk drew one of the most beautiful pictures he wished he could see. Orient was walking alone, wearing a dark grey jacket with a high, upturned collar and loose, green trousers. Over the years, he got used to walking to clear his head and brainstorm.
"another failure,", he sighed. He had 7 years to control his chakra, however, it never paid off. His insects never let him do it. He thought about his academics as he aced them ranking at the top of his class for 6 years. Nevertheless, he couldn't perform the simplest ninjutsu.
He reached near the cliff, and the tall two hairs on his head moved a little. He observed the Hokages statues. The coldness told him the sun had fallen and it was time to return.
On his way home, he met Naruto… better say he just felt his presence. Naruto is a monster to Orient, "a god damn fucking beast of chakra," he whispered. Naruto always made him cautious and his insects were always ready to fight or flight whenever he was close to him, the amount of chakra in his body was enough to cover Konoha's sky. "but…" he just sighed.
Laying on the bed after a heavy meal, he wondered. "maybe I don't have to control it, maybe I should control my insects to do it," he whispered. He tried to do the seals and let his insects do the rest but that didn't work so maybe he needed to control his insects to do it and not just form the seals. However, now was sleep time and he needed every minute of sleep.
He woke up with the dawn. He took a shower, cooked eggs, and rice, awakened his mother, ate with her, and went to school.
He sat in the front of the class, it was half-empty. He took out a book and read through. The voices rose and kept increasing with every kid that entered the class. "Sasuke!" the girls screamed when he arrived. Orient sighed as they just detonated his eardrums and the conversations changed from kids' stuff into laid girls that didn't reach puberty and some jealous losers with shit genetics.
He tried to focus and finish the book; he had 20 pages left but Naruto finally came; he closed it and put it in his backpack.
The voices shifted from Sasuke to how Naruto came before Iruka; Naruto was skipping school for about 3 months and never arrived early before (a day to be added to history). Time passed and Iruka didn't show up. He was fed up with that so he took his backpack and left.
While leaving, he met one of the teachers. "going somewhere?". "Mr. Iruka didn't come," Orient said. "oh,", he just remembered, "he's not here today yet stay in your class,". "wasting my time? No thanks,".
"… you're Shino Aburame,". Orient looked at his face and stayed silent. "So… tell your friends to play in the training ground and don't leave them," the teacher said. Orient sighed seeing the teacher leaving.
"so not normal?" Orient wondered and Hinata nodded. They sat on a bench away from the kids. Orient had asked her what his chakra channels looked like, to discover that he didn't have them in the first place. "your insects crowed around some places," Hinata whispered and pointed at her heart, abdomen, brain, shoulders, and thighs. After that, silence roomed as the nephews fell into deep thoughts.
He never thought of asking her because he assumed he was normal and just born with blind eyes, in addition, his father awakened his chakra so he must have chakra channels, or how his father did it? And how do his insects listen to him and obey? What is the warmth in him when he does the seals?
A million questions and one arose, and the one was "How didn't I think of it?".
While they were sitting, both lost in their thoughts, Shikamaru and Choji came and completed the quiet clan. They sat silently, watching Naruto and Sasuke fighting, Kiba playing with Akamaru and the boys, and Ino, Sakoru, and the girls fighting over Sasuke.
Shikamaru fell asleep, Choji was chewing chips, Hinata was watching Naruto with concern, and Orient was holding a leaf. As time passed, the school day ended. Naruto was pulled by Choji, Shikamaru, and Kiba from over Sasuke.
He was walking home with the leaf hanging to his hand and 'How the fuck I didn't think of it?!'. When your mind is the only thing you count on and it puts you down, you feel what he felt, DISAPPOINTED.
When he reached home, he used the long road, and his plan was already put when he faced the home's door.
First thing, understand the limits. He controlled his insects to see if he could mimic the chakra channels drawn on the book about chakra, (…dah). It took 2 weeks to mimic it and use his insects to burst chakra around his body without being eaten by them. While training, he thought about using the ninjutsu, which his father got and he couldn't use. Although, it ended in a disaster.
The second thing is the school ninjutsus that he's being tested in next week. The seals were in his pocket, on the other hand, the technique and the experience weren't.
A black sky with clouds, no moon. Orient reached his limits and his insects were exhausted of chakra.
His body produces chakra and his insects collect it, transport it, and store it inside their bodies; using chakra is consuming his insects and the fatigue that reaches his insects makes them produce an acid in his body that makes him exhausted.
He dragged his body slowly to the bed. "it's tomorrow, in less than 6 hours and I'm no longer a student but a ninja, a genin" he muttered as his thoughts blurred and everything went black.
It was the moment of truth and the students were ticking down. In this class, where all the eyes were waiting and observing, they went one by one to form the ninjutsu. Iruka after every student attempt said either "passed!" or "Failed!".
"Shino Aburame!" Iruka called. Orient made his way to the stage and faced the class. In friction, Orient formed the seals rapidly that they didn't see his hands moving. Beside him, stood the outline of him, black lines and light reflections that outlined Orient but in seconds, it disappeared. Orient moved his hands again and vanished, which lasted for seconds. And for the last one, he didn't need to move his hands as smoke covered him and when it dissolved there was a rook in his place and he was sitting in his seat.
Iruka wasn't the only one amazed and left with open mouths. For 6 years he couldn't have done a single one, however, today…Today he did it. "Passed!", Iruka pulled himself together.
The tests continued but at the end of the kids' minds, something kept playing. "Mr. Iruka, How Shino pass if he couldn't do it right?", one of the kids gained enough courage…better say jealousy. "what do you mean?" Iruka asked. "His clone wasn't like him, he just vanished and didn't copy your image,".
Orient sighed. "first, did anyone saw the seals being formed?" he asked and was met with silence, "Shino, is it okay?" Iruka asked looking at Orient with concern. Orient stood, took off his sunglasses, and looked at all his classmates, "I'm blind,". They were taken off guard and looked at Iruka to see him nod. The class broke into chaos.
"how do you see?" (really bitch)
"if you can't see, how do you write?"
"do you go to the bathroom alone?" (911)
Iruka slammed his disk, "Silence," he barked and the class fell silent, "now, who was the next one?" he whispered as his finger went through the list in his hand.
The tests continued and Orient showed this talent in all aspects: 86% accuracy at shurikens and kunais, agility terrain, and the written exams. He showed his abilities and efforts from day one, however knowing he is blind made the whole class look at him in a new light.
The last test was the spar. It went smoothly as most of them threw punches, used useless techniques, and made stupid mistakes. It got better when the fights were between the clans' students.
Kiba vs Naruto. "Fight!". They stood facing each other waiting for the first move, the waiting extended to Naruto's limits so he dashed. Kiba threw a shuriken, making Naruto break his dash and as Naruto dodged to the right there was another shuriken coming his way; he jumped backwardly but in that instance, Kiba was flying his way to Naruto with an axe kick, landing perfectly, Naruto was sent head-first to the ground. Once Naruto landed, Kiba landed on him forcing air out of Naruto's lungs. "I told you I don't need Akamaru to beat your ass.".
Kiba walked off with a proud grin. However, Kiba heard the whistle of a plastic chicken so he turned around to find a flying PLASTIC CHICKEN charging at his face, the chicken hit hard, and it pocked Kiba's eyes, Naruto's fist followed the chicken rapidly, Hitting Kiba's guts then a chakra explosion of force was sent through Naruto's fist shifting Kiba's organs' positions. While in the air, Naruto threw an upper kick to Kiba's chin making his mind dance in his skull.
Akamaru got out of Kiba's jacket and Kiba picked himself up. Akamaru stumbled and howled in agony as he landed on his back legs and Kiba had a blood line running from his mouth, he didn't like that irony test in his mouth. Kiba put himself together fast and his eyes widened because Naruto was nowhere to be seen but he saw that there were 2 chickens. Kiba glanced at Akamaru and then both attacked both chickens, nevertheless, both were plastic chickens, Naruto threw a kunai that was embedded into Kiba's right leg, Akamaru ran to Kiba but Naruto's Kick had another distention for him. "my cock and chick. Your sacrifices won't be in vain," Naruto wiped an imaginary tear as he approached Kiba. (Naruto, What you said feel…sus…)
Kiba initially looked at the shuriken he had thrown at the start of the fight but it wasn't there and then at Naruto who was playing with it between his fingers. "surrender?" Naruto asked with his confident grin. "In your dreams!" Kiba shouted, trying to stand. Naruto didn't want to end it like this and he never wanted to hurt the two but life is harsh.
Naruto crossed his arms and then pulled them back giving him momentum which was transported to his foot through the whist that played the cycle center, Naruto sent a straight kick that sent Kiba watching the stars out the stage. "DATTBAYOOOOOOOOO!!!".
All the jaws were on the ground as they watched the clone rise with his cheerful grin and energy. Naruto wiped the blood dripping from his nose and his grin widened as he looked at Orient. Orient, too, Had a hidden smile under his long collar, a sadistic, devilish, small smile, 'Rise…MY CREATION,'.
The class became more chaotic and louder. "Sasuke, Choji. to the stage," Iruka barked, shutting the chaos doors by giving them another fight.
They stood facing each other waiting for Iruka's permission. "Fight!". Both folded the seals, "Partial multi-size technique", "Fireball". Choji put his hands in front of him taking the full damage of the flames, Sasuke used the smoke and charged, Choji raised his gigantic arms and smashed the smoke away, however, they didn't hit Sasuke who ran inches next to them, Sasuke jumped high as the arms whipped the whole area, Choji controlled his chakra and minimized his arms and jumped to the side dodging a dozen of shurikens, Sasuke formed the seals and he was enveloped in the smoke the moment his legs touched the ground, Choji tried to reach for his kunais but he couldn't so he turned to run or escape yet Sasuke attacked from the front, not Choji's back, putting the Kunai on Choji's throat.
The result was already determined from the moment Sasuke was the opponent. Nevertheless, Iruka, Orient, Sasuke, Shikamaru, and Hinata noticed how much strength Choji had; he took a fireball and wasn't fazed in the slightest.
After that was Sakura against Ino. It was a dull fight, girl fists, stupid mistakes, shit-talking, and drama-full.
"Hinata, Shino," Iruka called. They walked to the stage. Hinata looked at Orient who took off his sunglasses and Jacket and threw them; she knew he wanted to fight her with taijutsu. Orient was wearing a sleeveless, tight, black shirt showing a lean body like most kids yet taller with a wider trunk.
For years Orient would have surrendered but it seemed he wouldn't today.
He stood in front of his other creation. "Fight!". He charged as Hinata took her stance, thrusting his hand to her face, she pushed his hand with her right palm and prepared to send her attack, while his angle was changing, he drew his left leg and pocked Hinata's, disturbing her attack. Hinata took a step back and regained her stance. Orient went to attack the leg with a low kick, forcing Hinata to take 2 steps back.
Hinata looked at the line behind her and then at Orient, 3 steps between them and cutting 2 was enough to put you in the attack range of the other. Hinata focused on him and activated Byakugan. Orient's 2 hairs moved a little, he moved and changed his stance, with one leg in front and one back, he pulled his waist down and his left arm up with his elbow higher than his hand and his right down with his elbow lower than his hand, making a C-shape. Both looked at each other for a second before Orient bolted toward her with one big step, she dodged to the side and thrust into his head, using his right shoulder he blocked it, he bent his body down, stood on his left hand, and spun, sending his feet to her face yet her hand stood in the way. He flipped to the front, checked his shoulder, and found his joint dislocated, Hinata's face showed a lot of emotions as he pushed it back.
The class was bored watching this taijutsu show. And as the fight continued some "boos" were heard in the background. However, some were watching and amazed by the fight.
Orient stood with bruises, red and blue spots, and heavy breaths, Hinata was just breathing heavily. Orient understood that the insects' style wasn't effective, full of gaps, unrealistic, and too forced. He shifted his stance to a boxing stance, his hands up and ready, legs slightly away and knees bent. He ran to her and sent a straight gap which was easily dodged, followed by a hook, an uppercut, shove, and he started rampaging. Overwhelmed with the countless punches that rained over her head, she broke her stance for a moment to attack him, make some space, or just stop him for a brief second but that was the last mistake for her; when she moved her leg a little Orient's leg hunted hers and unbalanced her. She fell to the side, and both of them looked at each other. Orient got on one knee and looked at her swelled ankle, "sorry," he said and she nodded. He walked off stage, wore his jacket and sunglasses, and returned to his usual self. He technically surrendered.
Shikamaru stood on the stage against a civilian student, he jumped backward, folded the seals, and walked out taking the civilian out and then he walked off, "troublesome," he muttered. And with that, the tests ended and it was the time for the waiting.
After the final test, the parents were allowed to wait with their kids until the results; all those papers wouldn't be solved by themselves.
Epara sat next to Orient, watching the students and their parents and listening to their talks. Hinata escaped from her guards and ran to Epara. "Little Hinata, my little Hinata,", Epara took her into a warm hug, when the guards saw that they couldn't get any closer and just stood away with tired faces.
Orient was holding his red ear; his mother knew about their fight.
Naruto was sitting on that swing watching them with a sad smile, loneliness was a slow poison. His eyes fell on Orient, he walked toward him and his smile widened but when he saw Orient's mother he turned to leave.
"you did well,". Naruto turned around, looked at Orient who stood and walked to him. Naruto opened his mouth but no words came out. Orient extended his fist, however, Naruto didn't move, his eyes moved for a brief moment between Orient's mother and Orient. "don't overthink," Orient said. Naruto still hesitated but he didn't let the fist hang more.
"Naruto," she patted next to her, "sit with us," she smiled. Naruto was confused, a lot of emotions fought in his heart.
Orient sat and watched as Naruto stood there still deciding. Epara sighed, "Son, don't worry, I don't bite," she said. Naruto's face darkened, "I do," he whispered inaudibly. "NO, you don't," Orient said while observing the crowds. "they fear something you can't control. One day they will know, one day they will understand, one day they will regret, one day they will. But that day isn't today so sit down," Epara said.
Naruto couldn't decide, he just stood. Orient stood, pulled him by the collar, "Hay!", and made him sit.
Hinata was hiding in Epara's embrace, while on her lap. The atmosphere was heavy as the silence lasted for minutes and it was very killing for Naruto. "I heard you read poetry books," Epara said, looking at him. "…yes," he muttered. "did you read poetry from the Land of Iron?" she asked while patting Hinata's head, who wanted to run, hide, and the earth to crack and swallow her. "yes,". "I think they are better than ours,"
Naruto looked at her with raised eyebrows, "I don't," he said. "why?" she looked at him with one of her eyebrows up, too. "they took Iron to the max," he said and moved his hands in circles, "they are repetitive, always end with heavy voices that kills the beat, usually dull and cold, and they always talk about irony things too,". "do you know, putting it like that, making me feel that ours is better yet I'm not taking my words back.". Then they debated about who was better, naming books, and throwing rhymes.
"Okay, you won,". Naruto's face brightened with his prideful grin. She put her hand on his head and rubbed his hair softly, "if you don't have anything today, what about eating with us?" She offered him, and his face darkened again, killing all her previous efforts. "we are making ramen with beef," she hummed and he started to reconsider his response. Naruto went into a dilemma, nevertheless, it was for a second, "I'm initially thanking you for the food," his grin returned.
"freak show!", that is what was needed. Naruto shrank in his sitting position pulling his knees to his face and hiding. "another idiot that doesn't know the difference between freaks and geniuses," Epara sighed while batting Naruto's head.
A giant hornet came to Orient's index finger. The hornet landed on it and Orient rubbed its head like a cat. Naruto's eyes widened as he saw that, fear was slowly building inside him; those hornets had the most bitch, sticking, painful stings. More hornets came and landed on Orient's head. Orient's 2 long hairs moved a little and the hornets flew again. "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" the scream of that one was ringing in the whole place. "nose and lips, good choice," Orient said. Naruto looked at him, was shocked but didn't dare to say anything.
The forehead protectors started to be giving out. Hinata took hers and put it around her arm and then returned home with her guards. Orient took his protector and put it in his pocket. Naruto didn't get it. As time went by and everyone had left, Naruto was waiting there in hopes.
Orient was stunned that they reached that level of sabotage; "Mom, can you act on that?". They were walking home, Naruto turned their invitation down, waiting for nothing. "I can," she said, now it was personal, "and I will,".
…
It was already the morning. Nothing really for the day, or for any coming day until 3 months. Orient was in the garden with his mind focused; nothing was holding him now.
He put his plan for the next 3 months. It starts with that ninjutsu, the shifting, it ends with his control and what is between is just accessories.
While he was getting ready to cook, his mother was already COOKING.
The Hokage was watching all the papers in front of him, he knew there would be some dirt but not like that. "just how pathetic has this village reached?" she wondered loudly. The Hokage shot her a glance but it seemed to be ineffective. "I hate dealing with you," he sighed.
Epara is the former logistics department head. They show respect when everything is good but when not, they bite hard. "I know," she smiled but remembering her business that smile disappeared. "first, Hyuga Affair, and now that," he sighed. "and my son sends his salutes," she left the office leaving him with another headache.
Hiruzen looked at the paper again. Naruto's papers were lower by 20 marks at least at every exam with some other students but not 20, while all the other students were higher than they should be. She told him that Orient discovered the pattern by willingly mistaking in many of his exams. Misleading marks lead to overconfidence or low self-esteem, it might look like just someone trying to put his son or daughter in a better place and hinder the others. However, related to the Aburame boy was hard to believe.
That meant 2 things:
First, the council had lost it. The clans are fighting silently and eliminating the Uchiha clan was for nothing.
Second, they had a little snikky wikky…a lot of snikky wikky.
The second one was the most horrifying and the most likely.
The headache was harder than he used it to be because this time this info didn't come from the current anbu, root, or logistics, but from a former logistics who had retired 12 years ago, and she is Epara…and her son. "Shibi, your genetics seem to be transplanted into your wife, too,". He took his pipe out and smoked.
Mid all this, Hiruzen forgot to tell her that Naruto had already passed and claimed his forehead protector. Nevertheless, why and how were classified information.
