Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Unprovoked being

Inside the vast, dimly lit cave, the acrid scent of charred flesh lingered in the air. The assembled Konoha shinobi shifted uneasily, their gazes locked onto the lone figure standing amidst the destruction. Fear flickered in their eyes—deep, instinctive fear.

In a single instant, Uchiha Qin Yu had incinerated Yamanaka Ryū, a high-ranking Jōnin and a seasoned operative of Root. The sheer brutality of the technique left no doubt—this wasn't the work of an ordinary shinobi. The level of power on display was at least Kage-tier.

"Do any of you still intend to capture me?" Qin Yu's voice was calm, yet it carried an undeniable weight. His Sharingan glowed ominously in the flickering torchlight as he turned his gaze to the four remaining Root operatives.

The four ANBU agents, masked and clad in standard Root attire, stiffened. But within seconds, their instincts kicked in, and they hastily shook their heads.

"N-no! We were only following orders," one of them stammered.

"Qin Yu, they had no choice." Minato Namikaze stepped forward, his usual composed expression betraying a trace of concern. "There's no need for more bloodshed."

In his mind, Minato understood the situation clearly. If Qin Yu unleashed his full strength, it wouldn't be a battle—it would be a massacre.

"Hmph." Qin Yu scoffed, crossing his arms. "Go back and tell Danzo—he'd better not provoke me again. If I decide to go all out, even I might be afraid of myself."

The Root operatives, recognizing the mercy they had been granted, wasted no time in retreating, vanishing into the cave's shadowy depths like frightened prey.

"Minato, Moonlight Night, I need to speak with Qin Yu alone," Uchiha Fugaku said suddenly, his deep voice cutting through the lingering tension.

Moonlight Night hesitated, his brows furrowing. "Are you sure? It's wartime, Fugaku. You should be careful."

"Relax," Fugaku replied, nodding toward Minato in silent gratitude before turning back to Qin Yu.

Qin Yu sighed, shaking his head. "Uncle Fugaku, I already know what you're going to say. Fine. Let's talk outside."

As the two Uchiha departed, the suffocating tension in the cave refused to dissipate.

"You're wondering why I didn't stop him, aren't you?" Minato's calm voice broke the silence as he turned toward Moonlight Night.

The surrounding Konoha shinobi exchanged glances, uncertainty evident in their expressions.

Moonlight Night's eyes narrowed. "Minato, with your reflexes and Flying Thunder God, you could've saved Yamanaka Ryū before he burned to death. Why didn't you? Do you have something against Danzo?"

Konoha's internal factions were no secret. The village was split between the pacifist ideology of the Third Hokage, the militaristic ambitions of Danzo, and the still-neutral Uchiha clan.

Minato sighed, shaking his head. "No, it's not that simple. You underestimate Qin Yu. His strength and potential are beyond anything we've seen. Whether it's A-rank or even S-rank jutsu, no matter the nature transformation, he can master it in mere hours.

"If you were in my position, facing a shinobi of his caliber who harbors resentment toward Root, what would you choose?"

The cave fell silent.

Moonlight Night's lips parted slightly as realization dawned on him.

"Minato, are you saying… that Qin Yu is a threat to Konoha?"

Minato's blue eyes flickered with an unreadable expression. "No. But in war, every variable matters. If we mishandle this situation, it could turn Konoha from the strongest village to the most vulnerable one."

Moonlight Night exhaled, his features tightening. "…I see."

"It's best if you do." Minato turned, his golden hair catching the dim torchlight as he strode toward the exit. "I'll go check on them."

As his figure disappeared into the night, a voice echoed from the shadows.

"Father, I thought you said you could easily deal with Qin Yu," Moonlight Blast muttered, resentment lacing his tone.

"Enough." Moonlight Night's sharp glare silenced him instantly. "I know what I'm doing."

With a wave of his hand, he dismissed the remaining Konoha shinobi.

The cave, now almost empty, held only two figures—Moonlight Night and Inuzuka Kaze.

"Kaze," Moonlight Night said suddenly, "I want your honest evaluation of that boy. Remember, this isn't just about Uchiha—it's about Konoha's future."

Inuzuka Kaze exchanged glances with the ANBU beside him before answering with a single phrase.

"…Do not provoke him."

Moonlight Night's expression stiffened. "What?"

"I agree." Another ANBU chimed in. "Do not provoke him."

The same response.

Moonlight Night felt a cold chill crawl down his spine.

Ten kilometers away, deep within a desolate forest clearing, Uchiha Fugaku followed Qin Yu into the darkness.

Just as Fugaku was about to speak, Qin Yu vanished.

Shunshin no Jutsu!

Fugaku's Sharingan spun, instantly pinpointing Qin Yu's position. Without hesitation, he lunged forward, his kunai aimed at his nephew's back.

Clang!

Qin Yu parried effortlessly, turning to face Fugaku.

Fugaku's eyes narrowed. Without breaking stride, he twisted mid-air, sending a lightning-fast kick toward Qin Yu's temple.

At the same time, his right hand flicked forward, releasing three shuriken.

A simultaneous triple attack—covering all escape routes.

"Heh. Uncle Fugaku, your tests are so boring." Qin Yu sighed.

With a crackling sound, his entire body erupted in arcs of blue lightning.

Chidori Nagashi!

Before Fugaku could react, Qin Yu vanished in a blur of electricity, reappearing meters away.

Fugaku's kick struck empty air.

His shuriken, however, remained on course—only for their trajectory to shift mid-flight.

Thin wires, barely visible in the moonlight, connected them.

"Katon: Ryūka no Jutsu!"

Fugaku inhaled deeply, chakra surging through his lungs.

A roaring stream of flames raced along the metal wires, converging into three colossal fire dragons.

"Qin Yu, it's been a while since we sparred. Uchiha's greatest strength is Fire Release. Show me how far you've come."

Qin Yu exhaled, shaking his head. "I only know the Fireball Jutsu."

Fugaku's Sharingan narrowed. "Then show me."

Qin Yu's hands blurred into a flurry of seals—so fast, even Fugaku had trouble keeping up.

Katon: Gōka Mekkyaku!

A deafening roar erupted as a monstrous fireball, large as the sun itself, tore through the night.

The entire clearing was bathed in an infernal glow.

Fugaku's fire dragons were swallowed instantly.

The wave of heat sent trees toppling, scorching the ground.

Fugaku's Sharingan widened.

This… this wasn't an ordinary Fireball Jutsu.

It was an S-rank technique.

And Qin Yu had cast it effortlessly.
