Chapter 203: Chapter 203: Brotherhood and Betrayal

Shin's words were harsh, but the remaining Big Mom Pirates lacked true combat power.

When they heard Shin's words, some members of the Big Mom Pirates breathed a sigh of relief while others showed uncertain expressions.

For instance, Cracker and Perospero had peculiar devil fruit abilities. One manipulated biscuits, and the other controlled candy. If they hadn't trained hard, their abilities alone would have been as useless as trash.

If Shin genuinely took their devil fruits, Cracker and Perospero would likely end up thanking him.

At this moment, Shin looked at Katakuri and said, "I remember someone with a Book-Book fruit ability here. I need his devil fruit."

Katakuri's face turned grim, but he eventually nodded. "Mont-d'Or, give him your Book-Book fruit. The family will try to find you a better devil fruit."

Mont-d'Or, who possessed the Book-Book fruit, had a slim upper body, a thick lower body, long limbs, and straw-colored hair that fanned out like dried grass. He was pale with a round chin and a long, pointed nose.

In short, he was as eccentric-looking as many members of the Charlotte family. Seeing him, one could only wonder what strange race Big Mom had mingled with to produce him.

After Katakuri's instruction, Mont-d'Orstepped forward silently. Shin reached out, and under a shroud of dark mist, Mont-d'Or's fruit power was drawn from his body, entering the dark dimension. A fruit manifested in Shin's hand, revealing itself as a new devil fruit.

The Book-Book fruit's power was peculiar. With enough creativity, it could achieve incredible feats, like creating a book world or even transforming that world from imagination into reality.

Of course, Shin had other ideas for it, but that would come later.

Then, Shin turned his gaze toward Charlotte Pudding, who stood nearby with an innocent look and said, "Pudding, it's time to go!"

Instantly, the eyes of all the Big Mom Pirates members turned to Pudding. Many looked incredulous but quickly came to a realization, with a few even showing a trace of envy.

Their surprise was understandable, yet their realizations were simple enough. After all, Pudding's Memory-Memory fruit was incredibly useful. For Shin to leave her power untouched indicated something more was happening.

As for the envy... well, pirates were a unique group. Serving under a powerful captain wasn't something they dreaded. In fact, the stronger their leader, the more prestigious it was to follow them.

"Yes, Shin-sama." Pudding's lips curved into a smile, though her heart overflowed with joy. It seemed her gamble had paid off; she was finally free!

In the Big Mom Pirates, men often fared better. Women, unless strong enough to become Sweet Commanders, were treated as tools for securing alliances through marriage with other pirate groups.

In the original story, Pudding had always admired her sister Lola, who had the courage to pursue love. Clearly, Pudding's desire for freedom ran deep. Otherwise, she would not have accepted Shin's invitation so readily.

"Pudding, you…" Katakuri looked at her and then sighed. "Well, it's your choice."

The joy on Pudding's face faded slightly. Though Charlotte Linlin wasn't a good mother, Katakuri was undeniably a good brother.

The true unity of the Charlotte Pirates was rooted in the older siblings, with Katakuri alone embodying at least eighty percent of that bond.

"I'm sorry, Brother Katakuri, but I want to pursue my own freedom."

Katakuri gave a bitter smile and couldn't say a word.

Just as Shin turned to leave, Pudding, following behind him, hesitated briefly before speaking up, "Captain Shin, could you heal my mother first?"

Like Kaido, Charlotte Linlin was currently suffering from a spinal fracture. Under normal circumstances, even if this type of injury healed, it would still significantly weaken her future strength.

Pudding knew that Shin's ability to manipulate the human body made him capable of top-tier medical skills. Ordinary doctors might struggle to heal her mother, but for Shin, it would be no challenge at all.

Upon hearing Pudding's request, Shin didn't refuse. A dark mist enveloped his hand as he reached out to Charlotte Linlin. Moments later, he ejected her, and the once-blooded Charlotte Linlin was restored.

Charlotte Linlin, who had looked like nothing more than a sack of injuries, now lay on the ground still stained with blood, but her bones and muscles had visibly healed. The faint moans from before had turned into full-on snores.

"Mom's recovered!"

"Wonderful."

Several members of the Big Mom Pirates sighed in relief. It wasn't out of sentimentality for Big Mom, but as the crew captain, Charlotte Linlin's collapse would spell trouble for everyone. The New World was merciless.

Watching Charlotte Linlin's recovery, Pudding seemed to let go of a lingering worry. She then stepped behind Shin, joining him and others like Violet.

Shin was about to leave when he noticed a figure hiding nearby: an albatross.

Although the albatross was attempting to stay hidden, he clutched a notebook, furiously scribbling notes—a devoted reporter, no doubt.

"Oh, right, I almost forgot something." Shin sneered, extending his hand. "Universal Pull!"

"Wah!" The albatross was yanked straight to Shin, who seized him by the neck. "You little rascal, spreading trash about me in the newspapers."

Morgans grinned nervously. "Well… it was all to boost sales…"

Inwardly, he cursed the reporters who had interviewed people in Wano. "Why didn't you tell me this guy was so powerful?"

He seemed to forget that when he first read the report about Shin defeating Kaido in minutes, he'd scolded the reporter for exaggerating the story.

"Boost sales?" Shin chuckled. "In that case, I can give you an opportunity for a headline…"

"No way! You defeated Charlotte Linlin, and that's the headline; it won't change even if you kill me!" Morgans' professional instincts kicked in as he defended his scoop.
