Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Kojin's Devotion
At this moment, many ninjas in the Hidden Cloud Village saw Shin first seriously injure the Fourth Raikage, then, with another move, strike the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki. Shocked and enraged, they unleashed a barrage of ninjutsu upon him.
Shin snorted coldly, uninterested in testing his body and haki against the attacks. He extended a hand, releasing a surge of black mist that swallowed the oncoming assault.
"Roar!" The Eight-Tails let out a tremendous roar, disregarding the possibility of collateral damage. It opened its mouth to unleash a Tailed Beast Bomb, directing a terrifying energy beam straight at Shin.
With a massive blast, Shin's dark mist struggled to absorb the concentrated attack, momentarily causing him to be thrown back.
"Cough!" he mumbled, standing up slowly. "It seems that even with the Dark-Dark Fruit's absorption capabilities, extremely potent attacks can still break through."
The Dark-Dark Fruit's power might mimic black hole physics, but it was far from unbeatable. Despite absorbing most attacks, an energy blast of this magnitude pushed it to its limits.
Fortunately, Shin's physical strength and haki were robust enough to endure the impact, though the force had knocked him off balance rather than inflicting actual harm.
Getting back to his feet, he noticed the Eight-Tails gathering chakra for another Tailed Beast Bomb. Annoyed, Shin clasped his hands together with a serious expression.
"Wood Release - Dark Forest Emergence!"
A forest erupted from the ground, its branches spreading toward the Eight-Tails. The sight of the wood-based jutsu alarmed the bull-like beast, which lost control of its half-formed bomb. The chakra bomb detonated in the beast's mouth, forcing it to spit out blood.
"This guy can use Wood Release?" it bellowed in disbelief.
Wood Release was derived from the Divine Tree, from which the Tailed Beasts originated. As one of the ten-tailed Divine Tree's split entities, the Eight-Tails was naturally vulnerable to it.
To its dismay, Shin's Wood Release was far more potent than Hashirama Senju. The bull felt its chakra being rapidly drained as thick branches coiled around it, immobilizing it completely. In a short time, its chakra reserves were so depleted that it reverted to its human form, leaving Killer Bee dangling from the branches, helpless.
The surrounding Kumo ninjas, still reeling from the Dark Forest's sudden expansion, soon found themselves entangled and hoisted aloft, most of their forces decimated.
Scanning the area with his haki, Shin frowned when he noticed that none of the captured ninjas possessed the Byakugan.
"Right… the ninja with the Byakugan should be further back. Could he have escaped already?"
With that thought, Shin turned, planning to head toward the Hidden Cloud camp to finish off any remaining ninjas.
However, as he exited the forest, he stopped, surprised to see a large group of Kumo ninjas kneeling before him, waving white flags.
"Don't these people claim to be the toughest among the Five Great Shinobi Nations, renowned for their bravery? So why are they surrendering so quickly?"
Shin overlooked the fact that he had already annihilated the Hidden Cloud's top-tier combatants. With no other option, surrender was likely their only means of avoiding total annihilation.
Kumo were known for their fearlessness, but no one desired a needless death. They might have attempted an all-out attack if there had been any hope of overcoming Shin. But seeing how he had easily overwhelmed the Fourth Raikage and Killer Bee, it was obvious their combined efforts wouldn't amount to anything against him.
Had the Hidden Cloud Village been so death-defying in the past, Madara would likely have crushed it when the village was first established!
"Kurogami-sama," Dodai said in a hoarse voice, his face pale. "We, ninjas of the Hidden Cloud Village, surrender unconditionally. Please name your terms."
Shin tilted his head slightly. "Return the Byakugan you stole from Hinata Hyuga."
Dodai, unfamiliar with Hinata's name, turned to the ninja behind him, who nodded knowingly.
Kojin, one of Kumo's elites, wore a bitter expression. He hadn't expected such a drastic turn of events. Known for his ruthless dedication, Kojinwas prepared to go to any lengths for his village, even if it meant taking on near-suicidal missions.
Sensing Shin's cold gaze, Kojin knew that Kumo's fate lay entirely in his hands. A single gesture from this powerful shinobi could wipe out the Fourth Raikage, Killer Bee, and their entire village, dropping the Hidden Cloud out of the Five Great Nations and exposing it to its enemies.
Kojin reached up, extracting the transplanted Byakugan he had used briefly. He then took a kunai and slashed his abdomen, blood pooling around him.
Shin closed his eyes, his lips curling slightly. While he believed Kojin's life was not entirely innocent, the gesture reflected loyalty beyond personal interests.
Kumo ninjas, often molded by loyalty to their village above all else, usually carried a fervor that led them down dark paths.
Kojin's death stilled Shin's urge for further slaughter. If he destroyed most of Kumo's ninjas, he would plunge the entire ninja world into chaos. As brutal as things were now, they were still far better than during the previous wars.
Moreover, these ninjas represented a wealth of potential. Shin had ideas on how to benefit from them, so a well-stocked Hidden Cloud Village better suited his needs.
