Rumble...

As the ground shook, a large stone slab suddenly rose behind them. By the time the ninjutsu stopped, the slab had expanded over thirty meters, forming a barrier that blocked Hirito's retreat.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Three figures leaped to the top of the stone slab, their faces covered. They squatted, gazing down at Hirito and the others as if they were prey.

"Leave half your belongings and you can go. Otherwise..."

The leader sneered menacingly, twirling a shuriken in one hand and playing with a kunai in the other. The kunai was dark, stained red from improper care after too much blood had soaked into it.

Takeuchi Ryo and his attendants looked nervous, but as experienced merchants, they had encountered dangerous situations before. Feeling the steady presence of Shinichi and his students, Takeuchi breathed a little easier.

Shinichi's expression remained calm. Suddenly, he spoke: "Hirito."

Hirito rolled his eyes briefly before his face turned serious. "The three opponents all have Chūnin-level chakra…"

The leader of the bandits wasn't a fool. He recognized Hirito's eyes almost immediately.

"Byakugan… This is a Konoha ninja team…"

Realizing his mistake, the leader signaled his comrades to retreat. He had no desire to take on a team from one of the Five Great Shinobi Villages. As for the goods, he was willing to abandon them. He could always form another gang later, but he wouldn't risk his life now.

Shinichi, with his vast experience, recognized the signs of retreat. Before Hirito could finish speaking, he sprang into action, launching shuriken at two of the robbers.

"Hirito, two for me, one for you," Shinichi instructed. "Minato, protect our client."

As Shinichi made his move, Hirito used Shunpo to quickly close the gap, heading for the third robber.

"Minato, Mr. Takeuchi is in your hands!"

"Eight Trigrams: Two Palms!"

The battle had begun. Minato took a steadying breath, feeling the weight of responsibility. His young face, though still innocent, bore a reassuring expression as he held his kunai.

"Mr. Takeuchi, don't worry. I won't let them hurt you," Minato said with confidence.

Nonō, while a step behind, quickly joined in. She pulled out her kunai and positioned herself on the other side of Takeuchi Ryo. Still, she couldn't shake a lingering suspicion. From Shinichi and Hirito's calm demeanor, it seemed they had known about the ambush all along.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Kill them all!" roared one of the bandits from behind the stone slab.

"Leave the woman, we'll have some fun with her!"

In front of them, a dozen more robbers rushed toward Minato, their eyes wild like hungry wolves, brandishing weapons and shouting crude threats.

Staying calm, Minato quickly analyzed the situation. His instincts kicked in, and he flicked three shuriken in rapid succession.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

Three screams echoed in the air as three of the robbers dropped to the ground, clutching their wounds.

Minato blinked in surprise. These men weren't ninjas?

But there was no time to ponder further. Nonō followed suit, throwing her own shuriken as the rest of the bandits charged forward.

Behind the stone slab, about twenty meters away, Hirito and Shinichi leaned against a tree, standing over the bodies of three fallen robbers. They watched the ongoing battle between Minato and Nonō.

Hirito occasionally sent out an air palm, the roar of his chakra adding to the intensity of the fight.

Shinichi, meanwhile, couldn't help but be impressed by Hirito's efficiency. He had just witnessed Hirito's quick moves—using only the Body Flicker Technique, followed by a Gentle Fist strike to the chest, and finishing with a precise hand strike to the throat.

Fast. Efficient. Deadly.

"Your Body Flicker is impressive—better than mine!" Shinichi admitted, a bit surprised. After all, he was a special Jōnin, while Hirito had just graduated from the academy. Was it Kenjiro's superior teaching, or Hirito's natural talent?

Watching Hirito's flawless execution of the Eight Trigrams Air Palm, Shinichi felt a sense of admiration and a bittersweet realization that the younger generation was surpassing him.

Hirito simply smiled at the praise. "I know my body hasn't fully developed yet, and my chakra reserves are limited. Instead of focusing on learning more powerful techniques, I'm working on improving my speed—my movement speed, reaction speed, and strike speed."

Shinichi nodded in agreement. Ninja combat was high-risk—whether you were hit by ninjutsu or stabbed with a kunai, the result could be fatal. Hirito's focus on speed was wise. Many young ninjas were too eager to learn flashy jutsu, forgetting the basics that could save their lives.

They both fell silent as they turned their attention back to the fight. Calling it a "battle" wasn't entirely accurate—it was one-sided.

The bandits, though adults and numerous, were no match for these elite students from Konoha's Ninja Academy. Nonō had already taken out two bandits with her shuriken and now focused on guarding Takeuchi Ryo. Meanwhile, Minato darted through the fray like a fish swimming through water, dodging the bandits' weapons with ease.

Swords and kunai sliced through the air, but they never met their mark. Minato's speed and precision were too much for the robbers, who fell one by one as he cut through their defenses with swift, fatal strikes.

Within minutes, all the bandits lay defeated on the ground. Minato returned to the group, his face solemn.

Takeuchi Ryo and his attendants let out a collective sigh of relief.

Clap, clap, clap.

Shinichi and Hirito emerged from the shadows, their clothes still neat and spotless. Nonō, noticing this, realized with certainty that the two of them had been acting the whole time—they had known about the ambush from the start.

"Minato, you performed well in your first real battle, taking down that many enemies!" Shinichi praised, though his tone soon took on a more theatrical note. "Look at them—some with their mouths wide open, some with arms outstretched, and others with eyes wide, still in disbelief…"

Minato's face paled. During the battle, he had been so focused that he hadn't processed the gravity of what he was doing. Now, with the fight over and Shinichi's words sinking in, a wave of nausea hit him.

"I-I'm going to wash up," Minato muttered, frowning. He quickly turned and stumbled away, his steps stiff with unease.

After Minato left, Shinichi turned to Nonō, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. His gaze made her shiver.

"Nonō, go check if any of them are still alive and finish them off."
