Chapter 14: Wedding
Yamamoto Ryusei brought Komiya Yuki and Yamashita Shou to the Senju Clan compound. As they entered, they saw Uzumaki Mito energetically directing the clan members.
"Quickly! One team, roll out the carpet! The second team, set up the venue! The third, find out where the wedding carriage is! Ryusei, why are you just arriving now?"
Uzumaki Mito turned to glare at Yamamoto Ryusei with her arms akimbo.
Ryusei blinked in confusion and replied, "I already sent my shadow clone ahead to help. Why should I come so early? Besides, my hand hasn't fully healed yet. I'd only be in the way."
The day before, his clone, Liu Angxing, had been working alongside the Senju women to prepare ingredients for the banquet.
Mito grabbed Ryusei's ear and snapped, "You can summon shadow clones, can't you? Didn't you say last time that one person isn't enough? Why send just one clone this time?"
"It hurts, it hurts!" Ryusei yelped as he pried her hand off his ear. He rubbed the sore spot and muttered, "One shadow clone is enough to boil cabbage, but not for something complicated like Buddha Jumps Over the Wall soup!"
Mito's expression darkened. She twisted his ear again and growled, "I don't care! Get to the kitchen now. If the wedding feast isn't ready in time, you'll be in big trouble!"
Ryusei led Yuki and Shou to the kitchen in a hurry.
Yamashita Shou shivered. "Wow, that woman is terrifying! When she got angry, it was like her hair caught fire!"
Komiya Yuki nodded fervently. "Yeah! Ryusei, who is she?"
Still rubbing his ear, Ryusei explained, "That's Uzumaki Mito, the Hokage's wife and a princess of the Uzumaki Clan. She's also the most powerful kunoichi in the ninja world right now, so yeah, her temper's… intense."
Yuki's eyes sparkled with admiration. "She's incredible! I've decided—I want to be just as strong as Mito-sama!"
Shou teased, "I thought you wanted to be a medical ninja?"
Yuki rolled her eyes. "There's no rule saying I can't be both!"
In the kitchen, Ryusei's shadow clone, Liu Angxing, was instructing Senju women on how to handle the ingredients. When he saw Ryusei, he let out a sigh of relief.
"Any later, and I would've dispelled myself to summon you," the clone remarked.
Yuki beamed at the clone and introduced herself. "Hello, Brother Liu Angxing! I'm Komiya Yuki. Please take care of me!"
Ryusei stared at Yuki, exasperated. "That's my shadow clone, Yuki."
Yuki blinked in surprise and then looked back at the clone. "Wait… why does your clone look more handsome than you?!"
Ryusei opened his mouth to retort but gave up, shaking his head. Instead, he turned to Liu Angxing. "So, what's the situation?"
The clone gestured to the busy women. "We still have thirty-six dishes to prepare. You should summon more clones to help them. Small ones—no bigger than a thumb—should suffice for basic instructions."
Ryusei nodded and summoned seven thumb-sized clones. The tiny clones waved to the Senju women and transformed into miniature versions of Liu Angxing, drawing squeals of delight.
"So cute!" the women gushed, carefully carrying the tiny clones away.
Yuki tugged on Ryusei's sleeve, blushing. "Ryusei, can you make a tiny Liu Angxing for me too? Please?"
Ryusei's expression darkened. "No!"
"Hmph!" Yuki huffed and went off to help in the kitchen.
Shou glanced at one of the thumb-sized clones perched on a Senju woman's shoulder and said enviously, "That's such a great spot. Can you make one for me too?"
Ryusei glared. "Absolutely not."
Shou shrugged. "Fine. I'll learn how to make one myself someday. But for now, I'm going to help the ladies. A gentleman like me always lends a hand!"
With that, he joined the others, wearing a sly grin.
A few hours later, Ryusei returned to the main hall. Uzumaki Mito stood with her hands on her hips, still barking orders.
"Mito-sama, isn't Hashirama-sama here?" Ryusei asked.
"He's greeting the Daimyo. They'll arrive in two hours," Mito replied. She eyed Ryusei. "Is the food ready?"
Ryusei thumped his chest confidently. "No problem! I've got extra clones working in the kitchen, and everything will be ready before the wedding starts!"
"Good," Mito said, nodding approvingly. "You can rest now."
Ryusei headed to the training grounds instead, summoning two clones to spar with him. He was working on perfecting the Iron Body technique, which hardened his muscles to resist physical attacks. Timing was crucial—too early, and he'd waste energy; too late, and he'd get hit.
Hours later, Ryusei returned to the hall just in time for the wedding. Senju Ryota entered with a young bride dressed in white. She looked delicate, her hair styled elegantly, though her figure was still childish.
"She looks so young," Ryusei whispered.
"She's fifteen—older than the groom," Yuki corrected.
"Eh?" Ryusei frowned, glancing at the groom. Despite being taller, Ryota looked much younger. "I feel like the Daimyo fudged her age to make this alliance work."
Yuki smirked. "I heard everything from the Senju women."
Ryusei sighed. "I'll never understand how you manage to gather so much information while cooking."
The ceremony began, filled with cheer and celebration. But as Ryusei watched, a nagging thought entered his mind—what challenges would come with this political union between the Senju and the Daimyo?
