Chapter 5: golden key
The Conspiracy of the Prisoners of Time
Arhaan's mind was reeling. How had the Kaalsanrakshaks reached here? Were they monitoring his every move?
The figure standing before him was draped in black, his eyes gleaming with an enigmatic light. He slowly advanced towards Arhaan.
"You must now learn the rules of this game, Arhaan," he said in a deep voice.
Arhaan clenched his fists. "Who are you? And what do the Kaalsanrakshaks want from me?"
An eerie silence filled the corridors of the ancient palace. Suddenly, the same woman—whom Arhaan had followed, dressed in the red saree—stepped forward.
"Arhaan, time is running out. You must know the truth… but before that, you must make a choice."
The Choice: Two Paths, Two Outcomes
The woman moved closer and extended her hands. In one palm, she held a golden key, and in the other, an ancient amulet.
"If you choose this key, you can open the secret doors of the palace and escape the Kaalsanrakshaks. But if you choose this amulet, you will be ready to unlock the secrets of time… but it will come at a price."
The Kaalsanrakshaks were now just a few steps away. Deep cunning gleamed in their eyes.
"One wrong choice, and you could be lost in the past forever," the man in black warned.
Arhaan took a deep breath. He didn't have much time.
The Choice and Its Consequences
* The Golden Key:
If he chooses it, he will have a chance to escape through the secret passage beneath the palace. But is it just another trap?
* The Ancient Amulet:
If he chooses the amulet, he will have the opportunity to understand the powers of time, but it could also make him a target for the Kaalsanrakshaks.
Arhaan's gaze fell upon both objects. His heart pounded.
Just then, the man in black laughed loudly—"Whatever you choose, the game has already begun, Arhaan!"
The question was—what would Arhaan choose?
The game of time was about to take an even more dangerous turn… and Arhaan had to understand that every choice has a price.
Arhaan's eyes were fixed on the golden key and the ancient amulet. These were not just two objects—it was a choice between his future and his past.
He took a deep breath and…
"I choose the amulet."
Silence fell in the palace chamber. The Kaalsanrakshaks' eyes lit up, and the woman in the red saree gave a soft smile.
"So you have chosen the difficult path," she said and placed the amulet on Arhaan's palm.
As soon as the amulet touched his skin, a bright light filled the entire chamber. The walls of the palace began to shake, and everything around him became blurry.
"What is happening?" Arhaan exclaimed.
"You have opened the first page of the book of time," the woman said.
In the Storm of Time
Suddenly, Arhaan found himself standing in a vast library. Tall wooden shelves lined the walls, filled with ancient texts and documents. Some texts floated in the air, as if they had a life of their own.
"Where… where is this?"
A slow, resonant voice echoed—
"Kaalbhandaar… the most secret place of time. Here, all the stories of the past, present, and future are imprisoned."
Arhaan looked around. There were pictures on the walls—some familiar, some completely unknown.
His gaze fell on one picture—
It was the same woman, in the red saree… but next to her stood a man.
And that man… looked just like Arhaan!
"What… what is going on?"
Just then, a book opened in the air and its pages began to turn on their own. A name was written in it—
"The Tale of Shaurya and Vaidika"
Arhaan's mind spun.
"Shaurya? But this is…"
He had seen this name in the Kaaldarpan!
The Layers of the Past Begin to Unfold
As he turned the pages of the book, smoke rose all around and suddenly he was once again pulled into the vortex of time.
When the smoke cleared, he found himself standing in the middle of an ancient city.
"What place is this?" he asked himself.
Just then, a man on horseback came rushing towards him. "Master! You must return to the palace, Goddess Vaidika is waiting for you!"
Arhaan's heart stopped for a moment.
"Vaidika? So this is really my own past?"
He was still in shock when a royal chariot stopped in front of him. The curtains of the chariot fluttered, and the same woman stepped out—the same red saree, the same eyes.
She looked at Arhaan and said in a soft voice—
"You have finally remembered, Shaurya."
The game of time had now taken its true form… and Arhaan could no longer escape it.
Arhaan's (or perhaps now Shaurya's) steps were faltering. He stood before the royal chariot, and the woman sitting inside it—Vaidika—was looking at him as if she had been waiting for him for centuries.
"You have finally remembered, Shaurya."
Her voice was soft, but it held a strange confidence.
A strange stirring was taking place in Arhaan's heart.
"This cannot be true… I am not Shaurya! I am Arhaan, from Mumbai, an archaeologist!"
Vaidika smiled gently. "Changing names does not change the story, Shaurya. You have returned here because our unfinished tale must be completed."
The Conspiracy of the Kaalsanrakshaks
Meanwhile, there was a strange rustling in the air. Black clouds began to gather in the sky. Just as Vaidika took Arhaan's hand, Kaalsanrakshaks wearing black robes suddenly appeared on both sides of the street.
"He will come with us!" one of them said in a loud voice.
Concern was visible in Vaidika's eyes. "We have little time, Shaurya… we must return to the palace!"
Arhaan was still trying to understand the situation, but the danger in the Kaalsanrakshaks' eyes was clear. They wanted to capture him at any cost.
A Dash Towards the Palace
Arhaan didn't get much time to think. Vaidika pulled his hand and they both quickly got into the chariot.
"Let's go, quickly!" she ordered the charioteer.
The chariot sped off. But the Kaalsanrakshaks were not far behind—they began firing arrows into the air, but Vaidika recited a mysterious mantra, which created an invisible shield around them.
"What is all this happening?" Arhaan shouted.
Vaidika said in a serious voice, "The Kaalsanrakshaks want this story never to be completed… because if it happens, their secret will be revealed!"
The Truth of the Past Began to Emerge
As the chariot approached the grand gates of the palace, flashbacks began to flood Arhaan's mind—
He and Vaidika, in an old palace…
An ancient mirror, in front of which they were taking an oath…
The attack of the Kaalsanrakshaks, and then a painful separation…
"So this was the reason… this was why the Kaaldarpan sent me here!" Arhaan whispered.
* Will Arhaan now remember the complete truth of his past life?
* Why did the Kaalsanrakshaks want to keep Vaidika and Shaurya (Arhaan) apart?
* Will Arhaan find answers to his incomplete story in the palace, or is it just another trap?
Time was now spinning rapidly… and Arhaan's truth was about to be revealed.
