Chapter 122: Chapter 122: Ancestral Ground of the Snake People Village
The white fox, newly named Su Daji by Zeng Shen, let out a joyful "yip yip" as her bright eyes sparkled with intelligence.
A faint white light emanated from her body.
[Congratulations to the host, Su Daji, the leader of the Snow Fox Tribe, has become your devout believer after receiving your blessing. Faith +100.]
Hearing the message in his ear, Zeng Shen smiled with surprise. Just as he was about to signal the foxes to start eating, he noticed all the other white foxes looking at him with expectant eyes.
Foxes are intelligent and perceptive creatures. From their eager eyes, Zeng Shen understood what they desired.
Without favoring one over the others, he declared, "From now on, you all share the surname Su. As for your given names, once you transform into humanoid forms and can speak, you can choose your own names. Of course, if you can't decide, you're welcome to ask me to name you."
"Yip yip yip," the foxes responded with joyful cries, their bodies radiating small white lights that flowed towards Zeng Shen.
[Congratulations to the host, the Snow Fox Tribe, in gratitude for bestowing them a surname, have become your true believers. Faith +150.]
"Why only true believers, not devout ones?" Zeng Shen wondered aloud, slightly frustrated.
"Perhaps it's because I didn't give them individual names or assign them specific roles," he mused. Then, he waved to the foxes, saying, "If you're hungry, you can take food from the storage warehouse."
"Yip yip yip," the foxes yipped in response, quickly heading towards the vacuum-sealed storage to feast.
Meanwhile, Zeng Shen walked towards the edge of the forest, two kilometers away, where the milk snakes were gathered.
Forty-one milk snakes were nestled in small piles of straw built by the intelligent mechanical caretakers.
As Zeng Shen approached, the colorful, palm-sized milk snakes peeked out of the straw, flicking their tongues as they watched him.
These snake people seemed naturally timid, not as openly affectionate as the foxes, but Zeng Shen was unbothered by it.
He approached Mesa, the future serpent deity, who might only become his messenger now after being brought to his side.
From his backpack space, he took out two cartons of quail eggs and placed them in front of the straw piles.
"Hey there, are you hungry? I've brought you some quail eggs," he said to the milk snakes.
"Hiss hiss hiss," the milk snakes responded, slithering out of the straw piles towards the eggs without hesitation, eagerly swallowing them whole.
Soon, each snake had a bulging belly, immobilized by the egg's size, and they coiled in place to digest.
Zeng Shen found these milk snakes exceptionally easy to care for, as a single quail egg seemed to fill one up.
After feeding the snake people, Zeng Shen didn't waste time. He took the last vacuum-sealed storage card from his backpack space.
He looked at the empty space beside the straw piles and concentrated, placing the storage there.
He filled the 1,000-square-meter storage with the remaining 198 cartons of quail eggs from his backpack.
"This will be the ancestral ground of your Snake People Village. You can take food from the storage whenever you're hungry," Zeng Shen instructed the snakes before heading to the lakeside with Xiao Ai and Xiao Ti for an open-air night stroll.
Five hours later, a prompt sounded in Zeng Shen's ear.
[The host charged bravely, but against the tireless resistance and counterattacks of follower Xiao Ti, you were ultimately defeated. Divine Tier Experience +6.]
"Damn it, I shouldn't have competed with a robot in endurance. They don't seem to have limits," Zeng Shen grumbled at the prompt, letting out a frustrated sigh. He then changed clothes with the help of the two women and left the divine realm.
He turned invisible and used the Wormhole Tracking Card to reappear in Old Gold Mountain at the spot he had left No. 1 the previous day.
Upon arrival, Zeng Shen checked his surroundings to ensure no one was nearby before retrieving No. 1.
He also used a replica card, spending 1,000 survival points to bring Lin Keke out.
"Continue driving the areas we haven't covered yet. Wake me at 8 a.m.," Zeng Shen instructed Lin Keke before heading to the truck's rear, where No. 1 had transformed a soft bed for him. He lay down to rest and recover his strength and energy.
Three hours later, Lin Keke carefully parked No. 1 in a secluded area and gently woke Zeng Shen.
"Master, it's 8 a.m.," she said.
"Okay, No. 1, open the door," Zeng Shen replied groggily, changing into his denim clothes from the previous day as he exited the vehicle.
He walked to a nearby camera, yawned, and mouthed to it, "Sorry, drank too much last night and overslept."
Afterward, he swiftly returned to the truck, discarding the denim clothes by the roadside, and instructed Lin Keke, "Your disguise mask can't be used anymore. Change to the face of a local celebrity."
"Understood, Master," Lin Keke replied.
"How many streets are left to cover?" Zeng Shen asked.
"Master, we have completed all the areas," Lin Keke reported.
"Then let's head to a nearby clothing store to buy some local brands. Also, stop by a hardware and lumber store to get tools for the intelligent mechanical caretakers. The pet houses they're building are too basic," Zeng Shen directed.
"Yes, Master," Lin Keke acknowledged, opening the map and heading towards the nearest fashion store.
Meanwhile, in a secret base's hall, Admiral Bayard watched footage of Zeng Shen on the screen. Noticing the denim clothes matching those worn by 'Jason' the previous night, he stopped breathing momentarily, veins bulging with anger, before uttering, "What did he say?"
A lip-reading expert nearby hesitated before replying, "He said, 'Sorry, drank too much last night and overslept.'"
"##@@$. Once we catch this person, I'll make sure he @#$@..." Bayard erupted into a string of enraged profanity, realizing Zeng Shen's message was a blatant taunt, confirming 'Jason' was indeed him.
After venting, Bayard, seething with rage, dialed Tioya's number.
"Admiral Bayard, your face is among the thickest I've seen. You kicked me out of Old Gold Mountain yesterday, yet call me this morning seeking help?" Tioya's teasing voice came through, as if she had anticipated his call.
Bayard nearly smashed his phone in frustration but managed to control his anger, forcing out words through gritted teeth, "Tell me how to catch him, and I'll tell you why he's so important."
"Admiral Bayard, you mentioned yesterday this is beyond my clearance, so I don't see..."
"Boom!" Bayard cut her off, hurling his phone at the wall, then turned to an officer nearby, "Lock down the entire city."
"But, Admiral..." an officer began, but seeing Bayard's murderous glare, quickly fell silent, "Yes, Admiral."
