My Pokemon Turned into Girls?!

Chapter 33: Chapter 33: The Reappearance of the Wishing Star

"Kazuki, you have to understand, this is an entirely new evolution form! What factors triggered this new form? What abilities and move pools does it have? Ohhh! I feel my scholar's soul burning with excitement!"

On the other side of the video call, Professor Oak was practically glowing with enthusiasm, looking like a middle-aged man caught in the throes of youthful passion. Kazuki could only scratch his head awkwardly:

"I'd love to send Lairon over for you to examine, especially since I'm worried about whether there might be any hidden issues after her evolution. But the problem is, Lairon doesn't want to go… I can't exactly force her, can I?"

Besides, she probably wouldn't respond well to being forced anyway…

Kazuki glanced sideways at the massive Black-armored beast at his feet. His black Lairon was significantly larger than a normal Lairon. Even standing on all fours, her height nearly reached his chest, making it impossible for her to perch on his shoulder like she used to.

"I see." Professor Oak's mood visibly dipped after being gently turned down by Kazuki, but he didn't push the matter. Instead, he added with a hint of seriousness:

"Still, you need to be careful from now on. This Lairon's mutation is far too noticeable, and it's inevitable that some unsavory characters will take an interest. People like Team Rocket would never let such a rare Pokémon slip through their fingers."

"By the way, who's that behind you?" Initially, all of Professor Oak's attention had been focused on the black Lairon, and he had almost missed the quiet girl standing behind Kazuki.

"Ah, that's Sabrina. She's a companion who's recently started traveling with me."

"Oh, just a companion, huh?" Noticing the way their hands were tightly clasped together and the affectionate gaze Sabrina was directing at Kazuki, Professor Oak's face broke into a knowing smile.

"Looks like I'll have to find some time to congratulate Genta properly. Well, my noodles are ready, so I won't keep playing the third wheel for you young folks. Let's talk again next time."

The screen went dark as soon as Professor Oak finished speaking, not even giving Kazuki a chance to respond… Seriously, he wasn't ready for his parents to find out about Sabrina just yet.

"Kazuki."

Hearing the soft call, Kazuki lowered his head slightly, casting a questioning look at the girl.

"Lunch… I want to try."

Kazuki blinked, then asked tentatively, "You mean… you want to try making lunch yourself?"

Sabrina nodded.

This was a rare occurrence.

During the time Kazuki had spent at the Saffron Gym, he had never seen Sabrina cook. Of course, it was possible she had been cooking for herself before he arrived.

"Alright then, let's do it. I'd love to taste Sabrina's cooking."

His fingers gently brushed through her dark green hair, which was as smooth as silk, the soft texture making it hard for Kazuki to let go.

But Sabrina, having received his permission, suddenly had a sparkle in her eyes. With a flash of light, she teleported away, leaving Kazuki's hand grasping at empty air.

"Lair."

You're really something, huh?

A metallic chuckle came from beside him.

Lairon, who had been quietly observing, looked up at Kazuki with a hint of teasing in her eyes:

If you ask me, since that girl is so devoted to you, why not just take her down right here and now? Make it official…

"Stop, stop, stop! How did your brain end up with such inappropriate thoughts after evolving? Even if we were to do something like that… we'd have to discuss it first, wouldn't we?"

Kazuki's head was starting to ache.

He had heard before that evolution could sometimes affect a Pokémon's personality, but now he was witnessing it firsthand.

The good news was that Lairon had completely abandoned her old habit of ramming into his side at every opportunity.

The bad news was that her aggression had shifted to… other, more subtle directions. Somehow, it felt even more dangerous now.

"Lair." Rolling her eyes, Lairon decided not to waste any more breath on this spineless human. She reached out with a metallic claw and tugged at Kazuki's pants.

Understanding her meaning, Kazuki crouched down and pulled out a small brush from his pocket.

He began gently scrubbing the hard, cool black armor. For Lairon, this wasn't a necessity, but like a massage for humans, it helped her relax and feel more comfortable.

"Lairon… by the way, can you transform into a human form like Hei does?"

Lairon, who had been enjoying the brushing, paused at the sudden question. She tilted her head and replied, "Lair, Lair? (No, why would you think I could do something like that?)"

"Never mind…" Kazuki didn't press further and continued brushing. He had initially thought that Lairon's unique form might have been influenced by the so-called "wish" power within him, similar to how Hei had gained a human form.

According to Jirachi, such evolutions were supposed to grant a human form based on the deepest desires of the one who made the wish.

Was Lairon's evolution unrelated to the wish power? Or was it that the human form could only be achieved at the final stage of evolution? The only way to know for sure would be to ask Jirachi directly, but who knew when he'd have another dream like that?

As Kazuki lost himself in thought, Lairon, who had lowered her head, was also pondering the question he had asked—if she could also take on a human form, then maybe she could…

A sudden explosion snapped Kazuki out of his reverie.

It sounded like something had blown up.

He quickly looked in the direction of the noise.

Unnoticed by him, a flash of red light, filled with desire, flickered in Lairon's eyes before quickly fading away.

"That sounds like it came from where Sabrina was setting up the cooking fire… no way…" Seeing the plume of black smoke rising in the distance, Kazuki muttered uncertainly. Without a second thought, he sprinted off at full speed.

"Kazuki… I'm sorry…"

Her hands clasped behind her back, Sabrina's head hung so low it almost touched the ground.

She looked like a student who had just been caught breaking school rules, occasionally peeking up to gauge Kazuki's reaction.

Behind her, on the ground, a few charred logs held up a blackened pot with a large hole in it.

The pot, which had followed Kazuki through countless adventures since Pallet Town, had met its end during their first outdoor cooking attempt on the outskirts of Saffron City.

So, how did cooking a simple meal end up like this? For a moment, Kazuki had thought it was some kind of terrorist attack by Pokémon poachers.

But seeing Sabrina's current state, it was unlikely he'd get any useful answers from her. He could only turn his questioning gaze to Alakazam, who looked utterly exhausted.

"Don't look at me. I was just following Miss Sabrina's orders to catch some fish from the nearby river. By the time I got back, it was already like this… (Telepathy)"

"So, Sabrina has never cooked before?"

"Of course not. Miss Sabrina has spent almost all her time training her psychic abilities and teaching her students. When would she have had time to learn how to cook? (Telepathy)"

Alright, he understood the situation now. Letting out a soft sigh, Kazuki stepped forward and gently ruffled Sabrina's hair, speaking in a soothing tone:

"There's no need to feel guilty. It's just a pot, and it wasn't anything expensive anyway."

However, his words of comfort didn't seem to lift Sabrina's spirits. She continued to hang her head, her voice barely above a whisper: "But Kazuki's cooking is so good… and I can't do anything…"

"It's fine. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. Like how your psychic abilities are so amazing, and I can't even begin to understand them, right?"

Finally, Sabrina looked up, her clear eyes reflecting a glimmer of hope: "Psychic powers… can they help Kazuki?"

"There will definitely be times when your psychic powers come in handy… but for now, why don't you grab some cans from my backpack? We still have a long way to Vermilion City, and we can't travel on an empty stomach."

Watching Sabrina use her psychic powers to float toward the pile of luggage, Kazuki wiped the sweat from his brow.

While helping Sabrina regain her humanity and emotions had been a success, the long years of isolation had left her with a lingering fear of being abandoned or rejected, especially when it came to matters involving Kazuki.

In a way, he was glad to hold such an important place in her heart, but if this continued, it wouldn't be healthy for her emotional growth.

"Oh, so that's the partner Kazuki has chosen? She seems nice, and she has a vibe I like."

"Yeah, yeah…" Kazuki nodded absentmindedly before suddenly realizing something. He turned in shock to see a white-clad, golden-haired loli floating beside him. Noticing his gaze, she waved her tiny hand with a cute smile:

"Hey, long time no see, Kazuki! Did you miss your mommy~?"

"Jirachi?! You… you're only supposed to communicate with me through dreams. How are you able to manifest in the real world now?"

"Hmm~ well…" She tapped her chin thoughtfully before answering cheerfully:

"I'm not entirely sure! It seems like I absorbed some kind of energy while I was sleeping, probably from a stone in your backpack. Plus, you've recently fulfilled a new wish, so now I have enough power to create an illusion in the real world~"

Energy? A stone… wait!

Suddenly remembering something, Kazuki's expression froze. He stared at the golden-haired loli, who was now proudly puffing out her chest, and couldn't help but feel a vein pop on his forehead:

"So it was you… my Mega Stone!!!"
