My Own Personal Throne

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: The Awakening

The sterile scent of antiseptic lingered in the air, clinging to Haru's senses as he stirred from unconsciousness.

His mind felt heavy, as though weighed down by something intangible—memories, perhaps, that didn't quite belong to him. Or maybe they did?

His eyelids fluttered open, and the first thing he saw was the cold, bright ceiling of a hospital room.

The lights overhead were harsh, and for a moment, they made his head spin.

With a soft groan, Haru tried to lift himself up, only to be met with a dull, throbbing pain in his chest.

His body ached as if every muscle had been stretched too far, and a strange, hollow emptiness settled deep within him, gnawing at his soul. He inhaled sharply, wincing at the sharpness in his chest.

What happened?

His mind raced, a haze of fractured memories and feelings assaulted him.

The last thing he remembered clearly was touching the Grail.

It was warm, almost unbearably so, pulsing with an energy that felt both ancient and powerful.

Then, there was the void—endless and white, stretching into nothing. It had felt like being untethered, like floating through an abyss with no anchor to reality.

And then, there was Irisviel. Her image, her voice—gentle, comforting, but also full of an unspoken sadness that he couldn't quite place. Was it a dream? Was it real? Or something else?

I...I...don't remember.

As his eyes flickered open again, the blinding white light of the hospital room made him squint. The sterile walls, the machines, the quiet hum of the room, all grounded him, but nothing felt quite right.

His mind was still wandering through fragments of the void, unable to focus on anything solid.

He heard footsteps approaching, and a figure appeared in his blurred vision—someone familiar. Black Canary.

"Hey," she said softly, her voice cutting through his disorientation. "You're awake."

The recognition came slowly. Black Canary, a name he knew from TV and the news. A member of the Justice league.

Haru's voice was hoarse as he managed a weak, "Where am I?"

"You're in the hospital. You've been unconscious for a while,"

Black Canary replied. She stepped closer, the edge of concern in her eyes.

"We found you after a run-in with Cheshire. She tried to escape with you while you were out cold, but... she didn't get very far while carrying you. We were able to save you from her but...*sigh* she got away"

He blinked again, trying to make sense of her words, but it was as if everything was happening through a fog. "Cheshire…?" He furrowed his brow, confusion flooding his thoughts. He had no memory of a fight, no recollection of anything beyond the Grail and that unsettling white void.

But..."Cheshire…" Haru muttered, his voice trailing off. What had happened? Why would she—?

Black Canary looked at him intently. "You don't remember anything, not even the big blast at the museum?"

she asked, voice edged with suspicion. Haru shook his head.

"No... just... that cup." he muttered, as if trying to piece together something that didn't make sense.

Irisviel... Her name echoed in his mind. Even though he wasn't sure how he know that name.

His mind felt fractured, disjointed. He wanted to say more, but words failed him.

Black Canary studied him, her expression unreadable but clearly thoughtful. "Can you maybe tell me where cheshire is now? What happened? What caused her to target you?"

Haru shook his head slightly, trying to focus. His head was spinning, the dull throb of his injuries only made worse by the question hanging in the air. "I... don't know."

But then, something about the question. Something in the air. Cheshire. The tightness in his chest became unbearable, and his heartbeat quickened. Cheshire was his..., and the mention of her stirred something deep inside him. He couldn't place it, but it felt urgent, like a deep-seated fear and a powerful connection at the same time. His emotions swirled.

And then came Black Canary's next words—simple, straightforward, and somehow devastatingly personal.

Black Canary know that he is hiding something "Where is Cheshire!?"

The moment the words left her lips, something inside Haru snapped. His chest constricted, and an overwhelming sense of power surged through him—like a door flung open to a force he couldn't control. His body tensed as if every muscle in him were pulling in opposite directions. A strange, burning sensation prickled along his skin.

The power inside him—the Grail's power—flared to life. His body began to shift. It was like a wave of energy, both strange and familiar, that rushed through him, and before he could stop it, his appearance began to change. He could feel his body morphing—his limbs elongating, his features softening, his frame narrowing and reshaping.

His fingers stretched, his hair lengthened, becoming silky and refined. His chest and waist shifted, a woman's form replacing his own.

Haru could feel his mind spiraling in confusion, but it was as though something ancient had taken over. He couldn't fight it. It was a transformation not just of his body, but of his very being.

"Wh—What is happening?" Haru gasped, his voice now softer, more refined, almost unfamiliar to his own ears.

Black Canary froze, eyes widening as she watched the scene unfold. "Haru?" she called, though it sounded more like a question, unsure of what she was witnessing. "What... are you—?"

Haru's new body was now fully formed. He could feel her presence in the back of his thoughts—the Heroic Spirit Miss Crane, the self-sacrificing figure driven by a sense of duty, honor, and a relentless drive to repay any kindness shown to her. But this was still Haru, right?

Inside, he struggled. Miss Crane's personality, was overwhelming him. He could still feel himself—the real Haru—but he also felt something else clawing at him.

Something deep, foreign, and powerful. The Grail's power, in its strange way, had merged with his soul.

Then something unexpected occurred. As Haru looked down at his new form—dressed in a strange, flowing outfit with intricate designs—he realized, with increasing dread, that he had absolutely no idea how to move in this body. He wasn't used to these long, slender legs or the delicate grace he was supposed to display.

While he is a meta human shapeshifter, he never shapeshift into such an attractive women, let alone someone he never met.

*Her* first attempt to stand resulted in a graceless stumble, and *she* found *herself* clutching the edge of the bed to steady *herself*, *her* new form wobbling like a newborn colt. *Her* hair—long and smooth—fell into *her* face, and *she* hastily tried to push it back, but it only made things worse, making *her* trip over *her* own feet.

Black Canary raised an eyebrow, watching this spectacle unfold. Haru was so far out of his...well her comfort zone that it was almost comical.

Her face flushed a deep red as she finally managed to straighten herself, but not without awkwardly adjusting her attire and brushing off the embarrassing stumble.

"You okay there, Miss?" Black Canary asked, the slight smirk tugging at the corner of her lips.

"Th-this!" Haru muttered, feeling the embarrassment rise within her. She took a deep breath and tried to strike what she assumed was a dignified pose—but her balance was still unsteady.

A single step forward sent her wobbling again, and this time she was too quick to regain control. Her hands flew out to steady herself—and the nearest object was Black Canary's shoulder.

In a final desperate attempt to save face, Haru quickly pulled her hand away, her face burning with embarrassment. "I'm fine," she repeated, but the words felt hollow. Her transformation had only made her more awkward, not less.

Black Canary fought to hold back a chuckle, raising a hand to her mouth. "Right… You're just fine."

Haru winced, but inside, a small part of her recognized the humor of the situation. If nothing else, this awkwardness was an unfamiliar side of herself. She wasn't used to being in such an unfamiliar position.

Before she could reflect further, her transformation began to fade. Her body shifted again—this time, the change was slower, more gradual, as *his* original form returned. *His* breath was ragged as he collapsed back into the hospital bed, exhausted from the strain.

His body—his true form—was his again, but the weight of what had just happened clung to him like a fog. His mind felt disoriented, his thoughts scrambled as he tried to understand everything that had just occurred.

And then, it hit him—the memories of the conversation with Irisviel flooded back into his thoughts, overwhelming him in an instant.

His hands trembled as he ran them through his hair. The connection to the Grail was undeniable. He was its vessel, the one chosen to face the Seven Beasts.

Each trial ahead promised danger, and if he failed—his power would be taken from him.

His mind echoed with the words of Irisviel—You were chosen by the Grail... You must confront the beasts of fate.

"I will be watching, Haru, When the time comes, I will be here."

I see so that what's happand to me, the grail has choosen me as his vessal in order to defeat the seven Beasts.

Black Canary raised an eyebrow, studying Haru carefully as he regained his composure.

"What was that?" she asked, her tone softer now, though her suspicion hadn't faded.

Haru shook his head, trying to push the disorienting feeling of the transformation out of his mind. "I... I don't know," he said, while making sure that his voice is as shaky as possible. no one must know about my mission absolutely no one.

She didn't press him further, but the look she gave him told him she wasn't entirely convinced.

She knew something was off, but whether it was the transformation or something deeper, she wasn't sure.

"I can see that," Black Canary said after a moment, sighing. "But I'm not sure what exactly did happen. That power... it's unlike anything I've seen before."

Haru met her gaze, trying to steady his racing heart.

She glanced at him again, her posture shifting as though she was considering something. "Listen, Haru. I don't know what was that 'Cup' thing that you touched, but the way i see it you have two options,"

"The first is a meta human jail for trying to steal a powerfull artifact from the muesum. after all I'm a hero who's job is to put thiefs like you in prison."

Haru nervously swaliing his spit faster then a dehydrated animal. I can't go to jail i have a mission to complete!.

"Or you can join a litlle super hero project that the league has been working on for quite a while, and in return I could.... We could help you control this power of yours."

Black Canary's expression softened, a flicker of understanding crossing her face. "That's the thing, isn't it? Control. You've got a power, and it's changing you—literally. But if you want to get a handle on it, you need training, you need support. You can't do this alone. so what do you say? do you want to be a Hero?"

"Me?... a hero?... please i have heard better jokes from my father and he throw me into the streets."

While the thought of him being a hero was revolting. he diden't really have a choice. If he didn't learn to control the power coursing through him, if he didn't understand completely the transformation he had just undergone, things could spiral out of control. not to mention he diden't want to go to prison so.....

He exhaled slowly, the weight of the decision settling on his shoulders. "I'll join," he said finally, his voice quiet. "I'll join the team."

A small but approving smile crossed Black Canary's face, and she nodded. "Good. It's the right choice, Haru."

Before he could say anything more, a strange sensation washed over him. His body, still weak from the transformation and the aftermath, felt heavier again, as though something was pressing in from within.

He instinctively placed a hand to his head, his heart racing. His vision blurred slightly as the voice from before echoed once more in his mind.

"It seems that...the child of chaos...has awoken."

The words were so dark, It is as if they were calling out to him from the depths of hell. It is as if they were trying to pull him back with them to werever they came from.

Haru's eyes widened in shock. That...voice just right about now...it...it... belongd to a Beast!!!
