Chapter 48: Shoto's Birthday Present
Shoya sat on his ornate throne in the heart of the Titan Sanctuary, the walls adorned with ancient symbols and the air thick with a sense of history. He gazed thoughtfully at Adrean, who stood before him, the Grand Marshall of the Titans.
"Adrean," Shoya began, his voice steady and authoritative, "how is the progress of the young Titans?"
Adrean straightened, a respectful yet proud gleam in his eyes. "The training has been going exceptionally well, my lord. The young Titans are eager to learn, and their determination is impressive. They've been honing their combat skills and mastering their abilities under my guidance."
Shoya nodded, satisfied with the report but seeking further detail. "Have they faced any significant challenges? Any signs of resistance or doubt among them?"
Adrean shook his head. "No significant resistance, my lord. However, some of the younger Titans are still grappling with the weight of their powers. They've shown moments of hesitation, particularly when confronted with the harsh realities of their potential."
Shoya leaned forward, resting his chin on his hand, deep in thought. "It's essential they understand the importance of their abilities. They carry the legacy of our kind. We cannot afford to have them falter when the time comes to protect our people."
Adrean nodded in agreement. "I've been working with them to build their confidence. I've also organized sparring matches between the young Titans to encourage camaraderie and teach them the value of teamwork."
"Good," Shoya replied, feeling a sense of pride in his people. "We need them united, strong, and ready for whatever challenges lie ahead. Their growth is crucial not just for our sanctuary but for the balance of power among the Titans and dragons."
Adrean's expression shifted to one of determination. "I will continue to push them, my lord. They need to know that being a Titan is not just about power—it's about responsibility, sacrifice, and honor. I will ensure they understand this."
Shoya smiled faintly, appreciating Adrean's commitment. "Thank you, Adrean. I trust you to guide them. We must prepare them for the inevitable conflict that looms. Every Titan must be ready to fight for our future."
Adrean bowed slightly, his eyes shining with resolve. "I won't let you down, my lord. I'll report back with their progress in the coming weeks."
After Adrean left the chamber, Shoya took a moment to gather his thoughts before summoning one of his trusted subordinates, Ignite. The air shimmered with anticipation as Ignite entered, a determined look on his face.
"Lord Shoya," Ignite greeted, bowing slightly. "You called for me?"
Shoya nodded, his expression serious yet excited. "Yes, Ignite. I wanted to check on the progress of the armor I requested. I want it ready in time for my father Shoto's birthday. It's meant to enhance his Knight form."
Ignite's eyes lit up with enthusiasm. "Ah, the armor! I'm pleased to report that it is nearly complete. We've infused it with Titan energy, making it both lightweight and incredibly durable. The enhancements will amplify his strength and agility while maintaining his agility in battle."
Shoya's expression softened, a smile creeping onto his face. "That's excellent to hear. My father has always been there for me, and I want to honor him with something truly special. This armor will not only enhance his abilities but also serve as a symbol of our bond."
Ignite nodded, understanding the importance of the gift. "I've also engraved the armor with the crest of our family, a reminder of our legacy and strength. It will stand out as both a protective piece and a work of art."
"Perfect," Shoya said, satisfaction evident in his voice. "When will it be ready for presentation?"
Ignite straightened, his determination unwavering. "It will be ready by tomorrow morning. I'll ensure that every detail is perfect, so your father receives a gift worthy of his status as the Knight of Titans."
"Thank you, Ignite," Shoya replied, a wave of gratitude washing over him. "I know this means a lot to him, and it means even more to me. I want him to know how much I appreciate everything he has done for our family."
With a respectful nod, Ignite turned to leave, ready to finalize the last touches on the armor. As he walked away, Shoya took a moment to envision the upcoming celebration, feeling a surge of excitement and anticipation for his father's reaction.
Ellen stood at the airport, scanning the crowd for familiar faces. As soon as she spotted her sister, her face lit up with a smile.
"Well, looks like you're here, little sister," Ellen said, waving enthusiastically.
Eva walked over, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Hello, big sister! I hope you got what you wanted. Where is my future brother-in-law?"
Ellen felt her cheeks flush slightly at the mention of Toshinori. "Well, he's busy," she replied, her voice betraying a hint of nervousness. "I'm not quite sure where he is right now."
Eva raised an eyebrow playfully. "Busy? Or is it that you just miss him?"
Ellen chuckled, trying to deflect the teasing. "It's a bit of both, I guess. It's just… things have been complicated lately. He's been focused on other matters."
Eva's expression softened. "I get it. But you know he cares about you, right? You both just need to figure out how to navigate this new chapter."
Ellen nodded, her heart swelling with affection. "I know, but sometimes I worry he's too caught up in everything. He's not even a hero right now, and it feels like we're in different worlds."
Eva reached out and squeezed Ellen's hand reassuringly. "Just remember that no matter what happens, you're in this together. And I'm sure he's just trying to figure things out as well."
Ellen smiled, feeling a bit more at ease. "Thanks, Eva. I really needed that. I just hope he can find his way back to us."
As they spoke, the sounds of the bustling airport surrounded them. Ellen's mind drifted to thoughts of Toshinori and the challenges they faced. Despite the uncertainty, she knew that their bond was strong enough to weather any storm.
"Now, let's get out of here and enjoy some time together!" Eva exclaimed, breaking Ellen from her thoughts. "We've got so much to catch up on!"
Ellen nodded enthusiastically, feeling grateful for her sister's support. "You're right. Let's go have some fun!"
After catching up, Ellen and Eva decided to grab a bite to eat nearby. As they walked through the bustling streets, they unexpectedly spotted Ochaco in the midst of her hero work, assisting a group of children who had lost their way.
"Oh, Ellen! How are you?" Ochaco exclaimed, her face lighting up at the sight of her friend. She then turned to Eva with a warm smile. "And who might she be?"
Ellen introduced her sister, "This is my younger twin sister, Eva."
Eva's eyes widened in admiration. "Wow! You're the wife of Izuku Midoriya, Ochaco aka Uravity, and one of the top 15 heroes in the world!"
Ochaco chuckled, a hint of shyness in her demeanor. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, dear. I hope you're enjoying your time here!"
Ellen smiled, then looked around, her expression turning more serious. "Mam, have you seen Toshinori? I haven't heard from him in a while."
Ochaco sighed, shaking her head. "He and his older brother, Izana, were having a sparring match earlier. They nearly destroyed the island, so I had to give them a punishment: they're cleaning the whole island right now."
Ellen's eyes widened. "Oh no! Are they okay?"
Ochaco nodded, trying to hold back a laugh. "They're fine, but I think they're regretting their choices right now. It was quite the showdown. I'll probably have to check on them later to make sure they're actually cleaning and not just finding a way to get out of it."
Eva giggled, "Sounds like typical brotherly rivalry! I bet they'll find a way to make it a game."
Ellen couldn't help but smile at the thought. "Yeah, that sounds like something Toshinori would do. He always has a way of turning serious situations into something fun."
Ochaco agreed, "That's true. He's always been good at lifting everyone's spirits, even when things get tough."
"Do you think we could go see them?" Eva asked, her curiosity piqued.
Ellen hesitated for a moment, glancing at Ochaco for confirmation. "Do you think it's a good idea?"
Ochaco shrugged, a playful grin on her face. "Why not? They could probably use some company. Just be prepared for whatever chaos they've created!"
With a shared look of determination, Ellen and Eva nodded. "Let's go find them!" they said in unison, energized by the prospect of seeing Toshinori and the antics that were sure to follow.
