~~~~~~ The Next Morning ~~~~~~
The morning sunlight filtered into the living room of the Sitri Estate, where Sona was quietly having breakfast. Her mind was still reeling from everything she'd witnessed and overheard the previous day.
As she tried to focus on her tea, the door opened, and her older sister Serafall strolled in with a bright smile.
Serafall walked over to Sona and leaned in close, whispering conspiratorially into her ear.
"Marcus gave you a head start yesterday. Don't waste it, So-tan. He doesn't do that often. My countless hours of seduction finally paid off… in some way."
Sona's face turned ghostly pale. Her hand trembled, nearly spilling her tea.
They knew I was there… the entire time?!
"You do realize that you're using his system, right? The one he designed and tailored specifically to monitor everything?" Serafall said with a knowing smirk. "Of course we knew you were there, So-tan. That's why you should take advantage of this moment. Gather your peerage quickly."
She gave Sona a playful pat on the head before heading to the kitchen for her morning coffee.
Sona's voice trembled as she muttered, "Sister… isn't he the same age as me? And you…"
Serafall burst out laughing, her melodic voice echoing through the room.
"Oh, So-tan, if you're going to use age as a metric, then you've already wasted your life. And as for me? By that logic, I should've ended myself centuries ago."
Sona's blush deepened as Serafall continued in a more serious tone. "Don't measure Marcus by something as trivial as age. If you do, you'll lose all your motivation and feel completely inadequate. Believe me."
Sona sighed, her anger and frustration bubbling to the surface. "I understand, but it's so hard. While I was wasting time in classes, he managed to install that core in the academy's basement! Yesterday, I couldn't shake the feeling that my entire day was a waste!"
Serafall's expression softened. She sat across from her sister, her tone turning thoughtful. "You felt that after spending a single day around him. Imagine how I've felt after three years by his side. I've watched him build everything from scratch, So-tan. Believe me, I know exactly how you feel—and more."
The Leviathan paused, her gaze steady. "But instead of letting that overwhelm you, focus on what you're good at. I've learned to lean into my strengths. I may not have Marcus's brilliance, but I excel at reading people and handling diplomacy for our race. If his achievements make you feel inadequate, channel that into becoming better at what you do best."
Sona blinked, processing her sister's words. "…I see. Thank you for the advice, Sister. It's nice to see you… like this. Supportive."
Serafall's face lit up with a wide grin. "Oh, So-tan is so cute~~~!"
Before Sona could react, Serafall enveloped her in a tight hug.
"Gah! Release me! Y-You smell like… a man's cologne!" Sona exclaimed, her cheeks blazing red as she squirmed free.
"Hehehe~~~ embarrassed?" Serafall teased, laughing as she headed toward the kitchen, clearly unbothered.
"You should at least take a shower! You're going to the office today, aren't you?" Sona called after her, still flustered.
"Don't worry~~~!" Serafall replied in a sing-song voice, waving her hand dismissively as she disappeared into the kitchen.
Possible Longinus 'Boosted Gear' Host Identified!
I lifted my Aurora Glasses, dismissing the notification with a mental command.
Finally. It had taken longer than I'd expected, mostly because his magical signature was absurdly low—so faint it barely registered above an average human. It was no wonder no one else had found him yet.
After isolating his signature, I applied a specific filter to make him stand out. Sure enough, there was only one individual in all of Kuoh with such a below-average magical presence.
Tracking his daily schedule had been tedious but straightforward. Once Aurora compiled enough data, I positioned myself at a location he was most likely to pass by on his way home.
I pressed a button on the handle of Castor, ejecting a cartridge. After slotting in a stun cartridge, I reloaded the gun with a quiet click.
Castor Loaded with Stun Cartridge.
Dismissing the notification, I waited.
Soon enough, a brown-haired teenager with a goofy grin came into view. He was walking home alone, likely after indulging in questionable activities with his friends.
I raised Castor, took aim, and pulled the trigger.
"Huh?"
The teen turned just in time to see a bolt of electricity arc toward him. His body seized up as the stun round hit, and he collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
Holstering the gun, I walked over and placed a hand on him. Several white magic circles appeared, scanning him.
"…So it is." I nodded, confirming my suspicion. He was indeed the host of the Boosted Gear.
Mentally connecting to Ars Goetia, I sent a message.
"Sera, come to me."
Moments later, a Leviathan sigil appeared, and Serafall materialized beside me.
"Master? Who is he?" she asked, her gaze landing on the downed teen.
"Meet this generation's Red Dragon Emperor," I said flatly.
Her eyes widened in disbelief. "Him? But I can't sense anything from him!"
"Put your hand on him. Send some magic his way," I instructed with a roll of my eyes.
Serafall complied, and moments later, her expression shifted. "...You're right. I can sense faint dragon energy. But how did you even find him?"
"I scanned the city's population for anomalies. His magical signature is laughably low, but it emits dragon energy. A closer check confirmed it. He's this generation's Red Dragon Emperor."
I crossed my arms, adding, "Take him to the Sitri Estate. I'll run a more detailed scan there. Let's see which of the girls finds him first and recruits him into their peerage."
Serafall blinked in surprise. "You're treating him like some kind of… test subject. That's so devilish of you! You'd make a perfect Satan~~~. But how do you know he'll agree to join a peerage after unlocking his Boosted Gear?"
I smirked. "Because his dream is to be the 'Harem King.' He's mentioned it at least six times in the past three days and said the word 'Oppai' 47 times today alone. Promise him a harem, and he'll sign over his soul without hesitation."
Serafall burst into laughter as I handed her the Aurora Glasses with the compiled data.
"This… Issei Hyoudou… What a bizarre human. My money's on Rias recruiting him first. So-tan would probably trade him away the moment she could."
"Agreed," I replied, wrapping an arm around her waist. "But I still want to see which one finds him first."
Serafall nodded, her smile widening. "This will be a great test for them. And who knows? It might make your visit here more interesting."
