Multiverse: The Daily Life of the Inventor in another world

Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Finding Boosted Gear (3)

A Few Days Later

For the past several days, Marcus had been residing in the Sitri Estate in Kuoh.

Yet, much to Sona's frustration, she hadn't managed to have a proper conversation with him.

It was infuriating! A man she regarded as the genius of the millennium was living under the same roof, and she hadn't even had a chance to ask him a single question. There were so many things she wanted to know!

Of course, she had to admit that part of the blame lay with her. She had spent countless hours working with the markers and experimenting with the incredible surveillance system he had created.

Once the system was fully operational, she could view the entire city as though from a bird's perspective. It was nothing short of revolutionary.

Her excitement, however, was short-lived when she learned that Marcus would soon be leaving. Officially, he was just on holiday, and since Japan didn't have extended Christmas holidays like some European countries, his stay was limited. His impending departure left her with little time to act.

Determined not to waste another second, she resolved to find him and… well, what exactly? Befriend him? Request a mission? Learn something—anything—from him? Her plan was as rushed as her decision to act.

Eventually, she tracked him to one of the estate's living rooms.

As she approached, ready to call out his name, she suddenly sensed her sister's presence nearby. Her steps halted. Quickly suppressing her magic to remain unnoticed, Sona decided to observe.

This was her chance to gauge the depth of the relationship between her older sister and Marcus.

Carefully, she leaned against the wall, positioning herself to peer inside without being seen.

The sight that greeted her made her cheeks burn with embarrassment.

Serafall was seated on Marcus's lap in a position that could only be described as intimate. Meanwhile, Marcus seemed unperturbed, casually reading from a sleek, futuristic device.

"How long do you think it'll take those two to figure out they can track Sacred Gear users with the system?" Marcus's calm voice broke the silence.

Sona's eyes widened. The system can track Sacred Gears?! Her heart raced at the implications. With this, she could fill her peerage faster than ever before.

"Fufufu... How many secrets did you leave for those two?" Serafall purred, her tone dripping with seduction.

Sona's blush deepened. Does this mean…? Her thoughts spiraled. Have they already… gone all the way? Damn it, sister! He's as old as me!

Yet, despite her indignation, Sona couldn't help but acknowledge Marcus's appeal. He's… confident. And brilliant. Calling him "smart" feels like an insult. Genius… yes, genius fits better. And his presence…

Sona shook her head, forcing her mind back on track. Now wasn't the time for such thoughts.

"I've left quite a bit for them to discover," Marcus replied. "If they're driven enough, they'll uncover everything. Now, instead of sidestepping the question, give me an unbiased assessment."

Sona blinked, impressed. He wasn't succumbing to her sister's advances. His composure only added to her respect for him.

Serafall sighed theatrically. "Fine, if you insist. Sona will figure out most of the system's functions first. She's more driven than Rias, who's just playing around."

Hearing this, Sona felt a surge of pride. Even Serafall acknowledges my dedication!

"Rias isn't playing around," Marcus countered. "She's running away. She believes her problems will solve themselves. She's a classic princess, waiting for a hero to sweep her off her feet. Only then will she start taking action."

Sona paled. He's completely figured her out—and he hasn't even been around her!

Her astonishment was interrupted by Serafall's amused laughter.

"That's why I like you so much! You'd make a fantastic Satan!"

"You must be joking," Marcus replied with a dry laugh. "If I were a leader, I'd turn the entire population into test subjects."

The thought sent a shiver down Sona's spine. He sounds like a true diabolic devil…

"Hah! Sona and Rias didn't complain when you turned them into test subjects! They were thrilled to try out your inventions!"

Sona froze, the realization dawning on her. I'm already a test subject—and I didn't even notice!

Marcus sighed. "You just want me to reincarnate as a devil and take Lucifer's seat, don't you?"

"Maybe~~~," Serafall replied playfully. "What girl wouldn't want to show off her boyfriend to the world?"

"And your idea of 'showing off' involves making me an office worker?" Marcus gave her a bemused look, putting down his device.

"Who knows~~~? By then, you might revolutionize paperwork! You'd make it fun!"

Marcus snorted. "I already have several ideas just thinking about it."

"See? You can do anything if you put your mind to it! You'd be the perfect, most powerful Lucifer if you wanted!"

Sona's head spun at the implications. She's seriously trying to make him reincarnate as a devil… but would he agree?

Marcus's derisive snort broke her train of thought. "You'll need to offer more than that, Little Sera."

Slap!

Sona's eyes widened as Marcus casually slapped Serafall's backside.

"All I can offer is myself… in any form you want~~~," Serafall teased, her voice dripping with suggestiveness.

Sona's face flushed a deep crimson. I need to leave!

Realizing where things were heading, she fled as quietly as possible, her mind racing. Marcus… my sister… What is even happening?!

Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined seeing Serafall—one of the Underworld's strongest devils and a Satan—behave like this!
