Chapter 2: Chapter 2 - The future?

Earth 27 - Year 12043

"As you all should be aware by now, the awakening ceremony will be held in two days. This will be the culmination of all your efforts over the last 18 years! Your family's resources, you personal training and dedication, together with your personality and personal traits - all of this has an influence on the ceremony!"

On a huge podium surrounded by countless holographic screens stood a man with green hair, the breath of nature seeping out of him.

"Countless classes await you in the awakening space, but whether you can awaken the one you desire depends on how dedicated you were in the last 5 years of school! Of course, luck also plays a role, as well as your bloodline..."

As the man was speaking, one of the students was watching him with a blank stare, with his body staring at the teacher but his soul somewhere else. Suddenly...

"-UUUUUUUCKKKK!" The boy jumped off his chair and screamed, which attracted the attention of the teacher.

All of a sudden the boy felt hands gripping his mouth - "Hahaha teacher Wang Zi was just so excited about the ceremony he couldn't help himself! Hahaha-"

"Enough! This will be the first and last time I am interrupted. Next time you won't have to attend class anymore, is that clear mister Wang Zi?"

The boy - Wang Zi - nodded, still a little flustered.

"Very good. As I was saying..."

The rugged boy who shut Wang Zi's mouth suddenly turned to him, sweat dropping off his forehead.

"Bro are you crazy? Why did you shout something like that in Teacher Zhou's class? Do you NOT want to awaken? You know teacher Zhou is the one that signs us up! Fortunately I was quick..."

"Thanks bro." said Wang Zi out of reflex.

"Yeah yeah just don't get me into trouble, I'm not saving you again..."

As the boy sat down again, Wang Zi started surveying his surroundings. Holograms in front of every boy and girl, different hairstyles with all kinds of colours that glittered, there were even some girls that had stars and other cute things floating around them!

The place he was at looked like something directly out of some sci-fi movie. And he... was in the movie.

"What the hell... Am I dreaming?"

"Was I in a coma?" Suddenly he looked at his hands, "No... My hands" and he lifted up his shirt " MY ABS! NO!"

The boy that shut his mouth had to intervene again. "Bro seriously? Are you really trying to get suspended? What abs are you talking about? All you do is laze around in class, are you expecting to get abs doing nothing? Please don't get the teacher's attention, he really will expel us!"

"Y-yeah, you're right..." As he was apologizing to the young boy a surge of pain invaded his mind. Memories foreign to him started flooding in, assimilating with his new consciousness.

"Urgh."

"So I was reborn huh... I guess my memories only unlocked now? Who would've thought instead of a truck it was a bar full of weights that got me! Something I did daily turned out to be my ending. I don't remember reading that the weight limit on the bench press was anywhere near 800kg though, hmm... Whatever."

"The future, year 12043, Earth-27, the 27th terraformed and therefore habitable planet of the human race. Turns out we did manage to conquer our galaxy heh."

The human race did conquer the galaxy. But around the year 7000, when technology was developed enough for them to step out of said galaxy, they met... A strange spaceship.

Inside the spaceship were robots. From those robots the humans learned that the galaxy they were in had been closed off the rest of the universe. The reason the robots gave was that the 'Silent Ones', the apparent leaders of a group of races that sought to rule the universe, loved fresh, barely developed galaxies the most.

And in the eyes of the rest of the universe, their galaxy, was barely out of its cradle. Teeming with resources and undeveloped planets and stars. Unfortunately by breaching the layer that covered it, hiding it from the rest of the universe, the humans had now introduced something extra into the galaxy... Mana.

And once mana was in, there was no getting it out. So, fearing for the future of the race, the humans sought asylum with the ones that aimed to fight the Silent Ones, the so called Consortium.

A collection of races that had been fighting to keep the universe out of the grasp of those who wished it destroyed.

And so, a brand new race joined the Consortium - the humans.

"Whew, that's a lot to take in. A brand new world huh."

"Hehehe, it seems that last life was indeed not my limit."

As Wang Zi was speaking to himself, the teacher on podium switched to a topic that interested him.

"And as a final warning, don't underestimate any class. Just because they're not combat oriented doesn't mean they're useless. A chef can boost other's stats, and even more his own, just by his food, a farmer can grow plants to attack and protect himself with his own hands. Remember, there are no useless classes, only useless people!" And as teacher Zhou said this, he vanished from the podium.

Wang Zi rummaged through his memories, "Classes huh. With the introduction of mana into our lives, humanity has finally gotten access to the superpowers I wanted so badly back then. The future looks great! Will I be able to fly like Goku? Maybe there's devil fruit powers? Tremor fruit? Or maybe Naruto's eye powers or ninjutsu?" Wang Zi was shivering from excitement.

"If there's a way I can get them, I'll make sure I know of it! I've climbed to the top before, and I'll do it again this time!"

"HAHAHA!"

Wang Zi's laugh was so loud, that every person in class turned to him, laughing as if he was a fool. You could even hear bell like laughter from the usually quiet girls in class.

One of them, Bea Might, she was called, petite in stature but with a sizeable bust and a face that you would like the more you looked at it, with green wavy hair and butterflies flying around her was also laughing.

"Haha, look Alicia, he's making an idiot of himself again!" Beside her sat a girl who was the embodiment of ice. With straight pale blue hair and matching blue eyes, and a beautiful symmetrical face with a tiny nose and small lips. Unfortunately her figure was incomparable to her friend... Maybe it had yet to develop?

"Hmm." Her name was Alicia. Alicia Frost. The flower of the class. "Just ignore him. He never did stand out before..."

"Ah, you're right. Maybe he's nervous about the ceremony? He's one of them after all..."

"Shh. Don't mention that. Class is over, let's go."

"Yeah!"

This interaction wasn't missed by Wang Zi. But he didn't care. In his past life he didn't have a woman, being obsessed with the limits of his body early on and with other worlds later on in life.

And in this one, with what he recalled from the early parts of his life, wasn't going to be any different. Or would it?

"Alright, the ceremony is in two days, enough for me to search up any information I might need."

"Let's see what the future looks like with my own eyes then!"
