Chapter 14: Chapter 14 - Training, Creating, and Saving SP
Alexander was right. Wang Zi had zero plans to making himself known. They could search for 'MMS' all they wanted, but the system made sure nothing could ever be traced back to him, so he had no worries about it.
As the days passed, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba began to climb in popularity, fueled by Feifei's streams and Alexander's occasional mentions. Word spread fast through both the streaming world and the Virtual Brain's social media, and soon it was more than just a niche hit.
Wang Zi, unaware explosion in popularity his work had gotten, continued his training and work on the anime.
Over the first month, his body began to show signs of strengthening. Muscle definition started to appear in his arms and legs, his chest expanding and his abs becoming more pronounced. Wang Zi kept his eyes on the goal though, this was still far from enough.
The days blurred together, each one following the same rhythm for Wang Zi. Training. Creating. Saving SP. The repetition had become second nature to him, and though the effort was relentless, the rewards were beginning to show.

"The closer to 100 the harder its getting to raise stats up through normal training... Mana breathing is what's been keeping my progress decent. I'm guessing once I reach around the 100s mark it'll get exponentially harder for traditional body training to do me any good. Meaning I'll have to start focusing more on fusing mana with my muscles instead of just normal strength based exercises."
His goal to emulate Broly's raw strength and explosive power was still a long way off, but he was starting to see the beginnings of it. The weight training, combined with his focus on breathing techniques from his system, was making him feel more connected to his body than ever before. The burn in his muscles was fuel for his ambition.
"I'll keep doing it until I bulk up and get the figure I want, then I'll switch to mana training as a focus while keeping my form in check" Wang Zi said to himself as he put down his dumbbell, "I'm almost there. In half a year at most I'll get the bulk I want. Mana really does wonders."
Meanwhile, his work on the anime adaptation of his Demon Slayer manga was moving along, although at a slower pace than he hoped. The virtual reality format was a whole new beast to tackle. The system's given talent [Ultra-Mind] was a great help, but he still couldn't put what he had in mind into the real world.
The Virtual Brain allowed users to experience the anime as though they were right there - walking alongside the characters, witnessing the battles firsthand. The immersion was incredible. Though the viewers couldn't interact with the characters or influence the story, just being able to feel like they were part of the world made it unique.
But as Wang Zi experienced it himself...
"It feels weird. They feel more like puppets, nothing like I thought... No wonder its mostly war movies and series, they want the big explosions not the emotions in a story. But Demon Slayer can't be like that."
"I need them to be shocked, hyped, sad, EVERYTHING. I need SP!"
"System can you help me with this? I need the characters to feel like real people and not puppets reading a script. But they can't deviate too much from the actual story!" Wang asked the system.
The system's voice sounded, "Yes Host. The system can help you improve your work by linking the characters with the world itself. This will drastically improve their expressions and emotions. Cost: 5.000.000 SP."
At the system's words, Wang Zi was amused. "... 5.000.000, really. If I didn't know better I'd say you're trying to scam me of out of all my SP." he said with narrowing eyes.
"..."
"Whatever, I don't want anything I bring to this future world to be below perfect. I got the SP with your help, so its only fair I give it back. Do it then, make it perfect!" Wang Zi ordered.
"Yes Host. Estimated time for task completion: 167:59:59."
"... One week. Fair enough. That gives me around a month and a couple days before the tournament. Should be enough to finish the quest. I've already decided to get breath of the sun and a nichirin sword from the rewards. I'll have to see about the characters though."
Even thought Wang Zi felt he got scammed, he didn't let it get to him. Almost everything he had was with the help of the system, it was only fair Wang Zi gave back to it.
He was hoping the immersive experience would boost his SP earnings. After all, not even Rengoku's death had as big an impact as he thought.
"Manga really doesn't work that well. I'll have to stick with anime from now on. Maybe I'll do manga as a teaser of what's to come."
"Well if I could be right there next to the characters of anime from my past life, I honestly wouldn't pay manga any attention either..." Wang Zi shrugged.
"I'm also not planning to expose my physical stats or the Rinnegan at the freshman competition. I need to be able to manifest one of the Hashira to help me keep everything hidden. At most I'll say I read the manga and took inspiration from it, artist can make drawings come to reality after all."
"So I really need the anime to catch on!"
And Wang Zi threw himself into training again, waiting for the system's improvement on his work to end.
After a week of preparation and countless hours spent fine-tuning the anime adaptation of his Demon Slayer manga, Wang Zi finally heard the system's notification.
"DING!
Improvement complete."
"Finally! Felt like a year had passed!" Wang Zi readily stopped his mana circulation and looked at the system's prompt. He hastily watched the improved version of his anime to see if he could feel the difference.
And boy could he. Since the beginning and Tanjiro's desperation for Nezuko's situation, to when Tanjiro finally finished his training by cutting down a big rock with the help of the children's ghost, to Inosuke and Zenitsu's shennanigans, Rengoku's death and the Hashira's different breathing styles, everything looked insane. Wang Zi couldn't help himself crying and having his hairs raise from watching it.
"Good good good! This is it! The chills, the hair raising fights, the moments when even I, as a man with two lives under my belt can't help but cry! This is ART!"
"If this doesn't get me SP its not the works fault, its mine!" Wang Zi was practically shouting at himself.
Now all the had to do, was make sure EVERYONE knew this was a thing. And who better to help him than his 'buddies'? They helped him before, so they could surely do it again right?
Especially the one who didn't like manga. Wang Zi was sure he'd see a different reaction now.
This time, he was pulling out all the stops with his teaser. He had chosen a pivotal moment - the Hashira, the elite warriors of the Demon Slayer Corps, making their grand entrance into the story, facing off against the Twelve Moons, the demons at the very top of Muzan's hierarchy.
The teaser centered on specialized breathing techniques - each Hashira wielding their unique style in brutal, high-speed battles against their monstrous opponents.
The visuals were nothing short of spectacular. The camera moved fluidly as the Hashira leaped into combat, their breathing styles giving them god-like power. Each strike, each movement, was imbued with an intense, otherworldly energy, and the fights themselves were the kind that left viewers breathless, eager for more.
Being able to be right there, following the fight in any way you wanted gave Wang Zi a feeling he had never had before. His blood was boiling, and he knew so would the viewers'.
Just like last time, Wang Zi streamed the teaser directly to the streams of Feifei and Alexander, bypassing the traditional methods and sending it straight to their live broadcasts. He couldn't help but smile as he clicked the play button, "I wonder what they will think of this one."
Feifei was in the middle of a casual chat with her fans when, without warning, the teaser suddenly appeared on her stream. The sudden shift in her content caught her off guard for a moment, but then she quickly adjusted, excitedly leaning forward to take it in.
"W-What is this?" she gasped, recognizing the art style immediately. "Is this… Demon Slayer? Oh my god, it is! This is… this is the Hashira - is that Shinobu?! Kyaaa!"
Her fans in the chat erupted with excitement as the familiar characters from the manga came to life in front of them. The animation was breathtaking, fluid, dynamic, and full of energy. The breathing techniques and the battles with the Twelve Moons were jaw-dropping.
"This is INSANE! I can't believe they actually made the Hashira fight in VR! This looks so real!!!"
"Feifei, do you think we'll get the Sun Breathing style soon? I NEED to see Tanjiro in action!"
"This is making me wish the manga could've shown these fights like this!! "
"This is SO GOOD, I can't even… The Hashira are finally here!! I'm dying to see more!!"
Feifei's jaw dropped as the last few seconds of the trailer showed off the spectacular clash between Rengoku and Akaza, the intensity of their blows shaking the very ground beneath them.
"Oh my god, I can't even begin to imagine what happens next…" Feifei said, holding her head in disbelief. "This is epic!" She said to her stream. "If you haven't read the Demon Slayer manga, then you need to watch the anime! This is the kind of thing you don't want to miss."
She turned to her viewers with a smirk. "MMS, whoever they are, has outdone themselves!"
The chat exploded again, and Feifei couldn't help but smile, her fingers flying over the holo-keyboard as she shared the teaser with all of her friends. Word of mouth was already starting to spread, and Feifei's stream was buzzing with excitement.
Meanwhile, Alexander was deep in conversation with his followers about the latest match in the Colosseum. As he spoke, he suddenly saw the familiar themed teaser flash across his screen. He froze for a moment, then quickly leaned in.
"Wait, hold up. This isn't just another fight promo, is it?" He squinted at the screen as the Hashira appeared, their breathing styles lighting up the screen in bursts of color and energy. "This... this is Demon Slayer!"
His eyes widened as the fights unfolded on screen. The Hashira's breathing techniques were something else entirely. The way they controlled their power, each style infused with its own unique strength, was something Alexander was quick to appreciate.
"This is insane!" he said, more excited than he let on. "The fights are - damn, I thought manga couldn't do this justice, and I was right! I can't believe how well the breathing styles have been captured. The animation is top-tier!" Alexander said, almost spilling his tea.
He turned back to his stream, eagerly discussing the teaser with his audience.
"Yo, I thought the fights in the manga were cool, but this is MIND-BLOWING!"
"I thought manga was good, but this VR shit is a whole other level. I might actually get into Demon Slayer now."
"I need to know more about the different breathing styles. This is wild."
Alexander chuckled as he read the comments. It was clear now that the world of Demon Slayer was captivating his audience. Despite his usual disinterest in anything that wasn't based on real, physical fighting, he couldn't help but admit that there was something about the anime's fights that felt real, even though it was all digital.
He turned back to his stream and grinned. "Alright, alright. You guys need to check this out. I'm calling it right now 'MMS' is going places. This is gonna be huge."
The excitement in the chat surged. Alexander's endorsement had already helped push the teaser into the spotlight, and with Feifei backing it, the buzz only grew louder.
Back in his gym, Wang Zi was sweating, his body moving through the familiar motions of another set of squats. He had spent the last hour focusing entirely on his workout, something that had become an almost meditative practice for him. But now, as he wiped the sweat from his brow and checked his system feed, he couldn't help but smile.
The notifications flooded in and so did his SP points.
"I knew it. You couldn't escape the hype after all." Wang Zi was smiling from ear to ear.
The teaser had caught fire.
Feifei had shared it with her followers, Alexander had spread the word to his audience, and now everyone was buzzing about the Demon Slayer anime. Wang Zi had done it.
As his system points ticked upward with every new view, Wang Zi couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. The pieces were falling into place, and he was finally on the map.
"I'll start releasing episodes in a few days. Starve them for a bit, let the hype build up." He said to himself, "If the SP is as I'm expecting, I'll have enough points to buy what I want from the store in about another week. So around 1 month to familiarize myself with the new things, hopefully."
"I'm counting on you, my 'buddies'..." Wang Zi grinned.
