Mr. Billionaire's Second Chance Bride

Chapter 4: Married in a flash; to a big shot

Grandpa Cloutier's words left Zephyrine completely shocked. Was she mistaken or did her ears hear correctly? Zephyrine hadn't recovered from her shock yet when she heard Grandpa Cloutier's new announcement.

"Today, my lawyer is coming to read the will," Grandpa Cloutier looked so excited. He pulled Zephyrine down to a seat with him.

Zephyrine received glares from two different people. But Mattew was embarrassed instead.

Sapphire and Eleanor whispered to each other. They knew the will would favor Zephyrine, so why get excited? But she might use the little time between when the will will be read out loud to her advantage.

Grandpa Cloutier was getting old already, and Sapphire believed that he must be easy to manipulate. But would that happen under Zephyrine watch?

"Grandpa Cloutier," Sapphire was not allowed to call the old man her father-in-law. "Zephyrine is neglecting you. She broke off her engagement without informing any of us, but now she got married right after the breakup." She paused to read his expression, "But that isn't the point, what of the company's reputation and our family name? She has dragged it through the mud."

Sapphire spat out bitterly, Eleanor was almost moved to tears by her mother's emotional act.

Only if Sapphire knew keeping quiet was a better option for her.

"If only you knew who she married, you would have wished your husband got married into that family instead of yours."

Sapphire turned red with embarrassment.

Sapphire was speechless, she knew better than to argue any further. She would eventually lose to the old man. She directed her anger at Mattew instead. If he had always been competent, the company would have belonged to him instead of his daughter. He had always been the cause of insults directed at her in this house.

The lawyer arrived in a few minutes and he met the whole family seated.

"Grandpa Cloutier, I am so sorry that I got here late. I just came back from a nearby city, I thought you were also out of the city." He apologized sincerely, "I welcome all of you to this session." He started.

"I would urge you all to pay attention to me so that we would avoid wasting each other's time. This is the session where I will be reading your beloved grandfather and father's will."

"The first person is Mattew, the old man's only son. He is willed to two real estate, which he grew up in. It is located in Australia. And two cars."

"His wife, Sapphire, is willed to nothing."

Sapphire's ears popped up, she thought she would be able to receive the same thing her husband received. But she didn't, was she that useless?

"Eleanor is willed a lake house in Sydney right beside her father's real estate."

"Zephyrine, the most important figure in the family. All the old man's remaining assets are Willed to her and her mother…"

"That's unbelievable, her mother died long ago. I have taken the position of her mother, but I got nothing. Really?" Sapphire couldn't hold in her anger. She knew that there were a lot of assets that they didn't know of, so why would everything belong to her and her dead mother?

"Sapphire! Language, her mother is dead but she left a legacy behind. True that a fruit doesn't fall far from his tree."

Sapphire unwillingly sat down again, the will reading session was over without the lawyer announcing the assets Willed to Zephyrine. If only Sapphire had held her anger, they would have heard it.

The lawyer congratulated Zephyrine before he left the family to sort out. His work was done. Zephyrine was so excited, she got what rightfully belonged to her. She missed it in her previous life because she saw Nathaniel as the one for her. But how did the old man get to know? What was more shocking was, he wasn't mad, instead he was proud of her. That was a change of plan.

"When are you going to your house?" Grandpa Cloutier asked loudly enough for everyone to hear.

Eleanor stomped her feet and held her mother's shoulder. They both understood that the old man was tormenting them.

"Grandpa, I want to spend some time with you." She said cutely.

"No, you can't, call him now to come pick you up and tell him that your grandfather wants to see him."

Zephyrine was reluctant to do so, because how would she call someone that she doesn't even have his contact with? She scratched the back of her neck then a maid came to announce to the family.

There is a man outside with the family name Desjardins. What? Zephyrine stood up at once, had he been waiting outside?

"Let him in," the grandpa was so sure that he was the one.

Kendrick walked in, his footsteps resounded in the whole house. Eleanor's eyes almost popped out of her sockets when she saw the handsome god that just came in.

"Grandfather, good to see you again."

Grandfather? What exactly is going on?

Grandpa Cloutier smiled and hugged him, "It's been a long time. How have you been?"

They both exchange pleasantries.

"Looks like you are here to take your wife, hehehehe," Grandpa Cloutier chuckled.

Zephyrine was so confused, where did they know each other? He never mentioned that he knew her grandfather or was she the one that missed that important information?

Zephyrine was so puzzled, subconsciously she felt herself pulled away from where she was standing. She raised her head and saw that she was in Kendrick's embrace.

"Shall we?"

"You should get going now, Mattewwill take care of the company till you are back from your honeymoon."

Zephyrine flushed red, she felt that the old man was assuming something and it was true. The old man was hinting at something and they both understood.

Zephyrine and Kendrick bade bye before they walked away. When they got into the car, Zephyrine was finally able to inhale the cool air.

Zephyrine started the car without notice, Zephyrine widened her eyes, "Where are we going, honeymoon?" It slipped out of her mouth.

"It's a surprise."
