Mountain Sitting Immortal

Chapter 129: Surrounded.

The black silk he wore around his head also helped to hide his wild unruly red hair, so he was able able to blend well with the night.

He saw Irvin speak with the other boss for a while. It was a short conversation that lasted less than a minute. Then Irvin took a carriage and began to leave.

Arthur ran across the compound and jumped into the next one in order to keep up with the carriage. He did so for a long time, sometimes causing panic in the compounds he barged into.

It wasn't a lot of panic because he was very fast. His figure was also dark. At most, people would be startled when they see him flash by. They would think that they were mistaken.

It was the dogs that he encountered that refused to be fooled. The dogs barked and caused a lot of people to be alarmed.

Of course, by the time people showed up to see what the dogs were barking about, he was already gone. So the dogs' actions look like an overreaction.

He had no trouble keeping up with the carriage. He was faster than the carriage normally, so despite the obstacles in his way and the need to keep himself hidden, he was still capable of overtaking it.

He followed the carriage until it stopped. The other carriages and wagons didn't stop. They continued on their way, but the carriage that Irvin had boarded had stopped, so he stopped too and waited for Irvin to come out of it so that he could follow him to his hideout.

But after waiting for fifteen minutes, Irvin didn't come out of the carriage. Arthur decided he couldn't wait anymore, so he decided to accost Irvin immediately.

He approached the carriage silently and broke into it. Unfortunately, it was empty.

His eyes widened in shock. He immediately rushed towards the driver.

He grabbed the driver by his collar and said, "Where was the man you were carrying earlier?"

He was prepared to use force and torture to coerce the man into spilling the beans, but the driver gave up what he knew immediately.

As expected, the driver said, "I don't know."

He smiled and patted the driver on the cheeks. "You don't know, eh. I bet you forgot. Don't worry, I have a way to jog your memories."

As he was chatting with the man, he noticed that some men were approaching him. So he decided to drag the driver away. and find someone secluded where the two of them can chat.

He took the opposite direction. But he had to stop because some men were approaching him from that direction too.

He turned right only to find more men coming towards him. It was then that he noticed that he had been surrounded.

There were exactly 12 men surrounding him. There were approximately 3 in every direction.

They stopped some distance away from him with their blades drawn and their eyes full of menace. Some of them even had crossbows already loaded and ready to shoot.

By the looks of things, they were very prepared. This didn't look like a chance ambush to him.

One of the men stood out and approached him. He wasn't holding any weapon. Instead, he was carrying a large lizard in his arms.

He recognized the man immediately he saw him. It was Irvin after all. Arthur sighed in relief when he saw who it was.

The Scarred Raven said to him, "Let the poor man go. He doesn't know about any of this. He is innocent."

Arthur pulled out his sword and sneered as he asked, "Since when do you care about innocence?"

He changed his voice so he wasn't recognized. But his actions caused the men surrounding him to step forward in response. But Irvin held up his hand to stop them from attacking.

Irvin shook his head. "I care about innocence as long as it is not part of my business. You, for example, have hurt a lot of people in your search for me."

"I am not here to fight you. I only orchestrated this meeting so that we can talk. So I advise you not to attack me. Tell me what I want to know, and you can leave. Why have you been looking for me?"

Arthur did the very thing he was advised not to do. He attacked Irvin.

The moment he dashed forward, the bolts from the crossbows were released at him. They expected him to turn into a porcupine.

So they were very surprised when his blade flashed around him and struck down every bolt that came close to him. This is something he wouldn't have been able to do with the giant sword.

Instead of fountains of blood appearing on his body, there was only the sound of metal and metal clashing in the night. It was the sound of his swords knocking away the bolts.

Their eyes widened in shock while he sneered in disdain. They thought they could hold him back with a bunch of men with the highest cultivation of the sixth transformation. They were wrong.

They too realized how wrong they were, so they became afraid. They were so afraid that they instinctively stepped back in fear.

By the time they could think of using their swords to attack him, he had cut off one of Irvin's legs and chopped off the head of the man to his right. He was just too fast.

He was so fast their faces paled when they realized what they were up against. One line came up in their minds. It was "Shit, second mortal coil."

They were all thinking this to themselves. So they lost the will to fight. They chose to run away.

Of course Irvin couldn't run away even if he wanted to. One of his legs had been lopped off at the thigh. He was standing close to Arthur, so the blade had cut through his thigh before he could step back in fright.

All he managed to do was hold his stump and scream, "My leg!!!"
