Monster Taming Broadcast

Chapter 143

Sage Lunaris.

She looked at the corpse of the Guardian lying on the experiment table and formed two hypotheses.

The first possibility was that the humans here had discovered the long-dead Guardian’s corpse and were performing an autopsy.

The second possibility was that they had killed a living Guardian and were now dissecting it.

Sage leaned more towards the latter hypothesis.

Though faint, she could still feel a high-ranking soul’s flow around the Guardian’s corpse, imbued with deep resentment and sorrow.

‘…It hasn’t been dead for long. It was alive just a few months ago.’

Even if they were weak humans,

killing that Guardian wasn’t impossible for them.

The fact that the Guardian could create a powerful Dimension Barrier didn’t guarantee that it was also exceptional in combat.

‘It’s certain that those humans killed the Guardian. Whether it was intentional or if it happened by accident during a biotesting procedure, I can’t tell.’

Sage concluded that the Guardian specialized in the ability to create and maintain Dimension Barriers.

Moreover,

she suspected that most of its power had been spent maintaining the Barrier over the years.

This likely resulted in a significant weakening of its defensiveness and combat abilities, leaving it vulnerable to external attacks.

That was why it couldn’t resist those humans.

‘However, under normal circumstances, a Guardian would be hiding in a place unreachable by humans… Could it be that they accidentally discovered a Guardian that had been sleeping deep underground?’

This was a very plausible scenario.

The world of Earth had recklessly developed its environment and destroyed nature.

Through humanity’s relentless exploration and development,

regions once inaccessible were gradually being exposed, leading to fewer places untouched by human hands.

It was only natural that a Guardian, hidden for eons, would be found in modern times.

While Sage was lost in thought,

the researchers and guards continued shouting at her, aiming their guns.

“回答我们!你是谁?”

“你是怎么进来的?快说!”

“这里是平民禁止入内的区域!”

“再不回答我们就开枪了!”

In translation, this meant:

“Answer us! Who are you?”

“How did you get in? Speak quickly!”

“This is a restricted area for civilians!”

“If you don’t answer, we will shoot!”

But their voices did not reach Sage.

Her attention was completely focused on the Guardian.

‘I need to collect the corpse first. There may be a way to revive it.’

Her effort to restore the Barrier had become meaningless.

With the Guardian dead,

it was only a matter of time before the Earth’s Dimension Barrier collapsed.

For now, the Barrier was barely maintained because of the souls lingering around the corpse, but once the soul completely departed from the body, the Barrier would certainly disappear.

After finishing her thoughts, Sage slowly moved towards the experiment table.

In that moment,

flames erupted simultaneously from the multitude of guns aimed at her.

Bullets rained down upon Sage,

striking her entire body, but not a single bullet pierced her; they all ricocheted off.

“What, what is that? That monster!”

“Crazy! She deflected the bullets?”

“Don’t panic! Keep shooting!”

The humans, refusing to give up, continued their barrage of bullets.

Sage squinted her eyes and paused for a moment.

“You… No, you don’t understand what terrible mistake you’ve made, do you? You probably don’t realize how great a disaster your actions will cause in this world.”

Then she gazed at each of the humans present.

“Maybe you just did what you were ordered to do.”

Sage raised her right hand.

“However, that doesn’t absolve you of wrongdoing. You’ve put the lives of billions of humans in danger, and ignorance will not grant you forgiveness. So, I hope you take responsibility for your actions.”

Her gaze was cold and resolute.

“With your lives.”

Without a moment’s hesitation,

Sage clenched her raised fist.

Using Space Magic, she grasped the hearts of all humans present in that location simultaneously.

A terrible sound echoed from their chests.

Wide-eyed, blood sprayed from their mouths as they screamed.

In an instant,

everything was over.

The guns aimed at Sage dropped to the ground, while their owners lay dead, life extinguished.

The laboratory was enveloped in silence in an instant.

Only Sage’s quiet breathing filled the space.

“I’ve shown mercy and allowed you to pass on peacefully. I have a gentle heart and prefer to kill without causing pain to my opponents, no matter how great the sins they have committed.”

Sage muttered to herself as she passed by the corpses.

She reached the experiment table and carefully lifted the Guardian’s corpse with both hands.

The chill on her face from earlier had vanished, replaced by a look of deep compassion.

She felt immense sorrow for the Guardian that had been killed by someone she had treasured for so long.

*

Sage discovered the reason why there was a disturbance in Earth’s Dimension Barrier.

It was all thanks to us humans.

In a laboratory located in China,

it seemed they had captured the Guardian protecting the Earth and killed it during biotesting.

“…What crazy bastards.”

【Pururu】—ㄹㅇ it’s because of those ungrateful bastards that billions of innocent lives are in danger now.

【Yumi】—I can’t express anything but curses. Even if they didn’t realize the creature they captured was a Guardian, the very act of conducting biotesting was wrong.

【Mysticism】—Exactly! It doesn’t look like a beast; it resembles a human! 🤬🤬🤬

【Rize Nova】—Luna, what did you do with those guys?

【Boglebogle】—Please tell me you didn’t spare them, right?

【Luna-chan】—Don’t worry, I sent them off cleanly. It’s not like they even got to see my face.

【Mirstin】—What should we do now?

【Mirstin】—They said the Dimension Barrier’s destruction is only a matter of time; aren’t we in big trouble?

We needed to discuss ways to resolve this situation for a while.

This was a scenario where Earth could face annihilation, and we couldn’t just sit back and do nothing.

【Yumi】—What if we send the Guardian’s corpse to Gun?

【Mysticism】—😀 Oh, that sounds good! The Necro Puppetmaster could resurrect it as a Puppet!

After receiving the Guardian’s corpse,

we could turn it into a Puppet and send it back to maintain the Dimension Barrier.

‘…That doesn’t sound very good.’

While Puppets can’t be dispatched,

it would be possible to send back the Necro.

The Necro can summon Puppets to their vicinity from anywhere.

It was still uncertain whether they could summon Puppets from other worlds, though.

【Rize Nova】—But if the Puppet Guardian returns to the Ancient Labyrinth, wouldn’t the Dimension Barrier weaken?

【Boglebogle】—That could be possible. Still, the Barrier would only weaken compared to before; it wouldn’t collapse entirely. After all, the one who installed the Barrier is still alive.

【Luna-chan】—This method won’t work.

【Luna-chan】—Even though it’s a corpse and not a living being, the fee is too high.

【Mirstin】—That’s right; it seems to be expensive simply because it’s the Guardian’s corpse.

【Pururu】—Are you two together or what?

【Mirstin】—We just met.

【Mysticism】—🤔 Mira, you have plenty of money anyway!

【Mirstin】—Even if I have a lot of money, I can’t send it; I’m limited by the fee.

It seemed we couldn’t send it due to the fee limit.

I wasn’t disappointed, though.

I had never intended to adopt this method to begin with.

The reason was simple.

Puppets have ego but no souls.

The assistants overlooked one thing.

Sage said that the reason the Earth’s Dimension Barrier was still maintained was due to the Guardian’s soul lingering around its corpse.

This meant that the key to maintaining the Barrier was the presence of a soul.

Therefore, a Puppet without a soul wouldn’t be able to create a proper Barrier.

That was why, after sending the Necro,

I didn’t even think about the method of turning an assistant’s corpse into a Puppet.

【Yumi】—If sending the corpse isn’t an option, couldn’t the Necro come directly to Earth?

【Luna-chan】—That won’t work either. The Puppet doesn’t have a soul, you see. I forgot to mention this, but a Guardian without a soul won’t be able to create a proper Dimension Barrier.

【Yumi】—Ah, I see.

“Can’t you, Sage, set up a new Barrier?”

【Mysticism】—😮 Sage can also install Dimension Barriers?

【Pururu】—If she can restore it, she can set it up.

【Mirstin】—She said she could do it last time. She’s versatile.

【Luna-chan】—I’m sorry, but I don’t think that will work either.

【Luna-chan】—At first, I thought I could make a Barrier like this, but the more I studied the structure while restoring it, the more my confidence waned. Even if all my power were restored, I don’t think I could create a Barrier this perfect.

【Yumi】—It doesn’t have to be perfect, right?

【Luna-chan】—Of course, it might be a bit rough, but I can make it similar. But I doubt my Barrier can withstand beings from other dimensions invading.

【Luna-chan】—I’ve learned that quite a few beings seem to be targeting the world of Earth. Several entities have been detected that I can’t handle with my current power.

【Luna-chan】—Also, last time, a human who introduced himself as Zeus tried to force his way through the Dimension Barrier, and he clearly looked like he had a danger level of S-Class or higher. Of course, the Barrier was so sturdy, and by the time the cracks formed, I had already restored it, so he couldn’t get through.

【Mirstin】—I heard you barely managed to stop him.

【Pururu】—Why is Zeus suddenly here?

【Yumi】—Zeus? Are you referring to the Olympian god?

【Mirstin】—I only know the name, so I’m not sure. But isn’t it just a coincidence that they have the same name?

【Luna-chan】—After hearing Mira-chan mention Zeus, I searched it online and found that the Zeus I saw looked completely different from the one in the photos on the internet.

【Luna-chan】—For reference, I was unable to determine what abilities he possesses.

The assistants’ chat had momentarily gone off track.

In any case,

it seemed Sage would not be able to set up a new Dimension Barrier.

There was no helping it since she lacked confidence.

【Rize Nova】—Consider plans to relocate Earthlings to another world.

【Rize Nova】—Oh, by the way, isn’t Elementzia a pretty large planet, and it has very few remaining humans? Why not combine them during this opportunity?

【Mysticism】—How can we relocate billions of people! 😠

【Luna-chan】—A mass relocation isn’t a bad idea. I’ll keep it as a last resort.

【Pururu】—Can’t we resurrect them?

【Pururu】—I wish there were monsters among Gun’s that could use revival magic or something.

“…Huh? Resurrection?”

Reading Pururu’s chat,

a sliver of memory suddenly flashed through my mind.

It was the explorer’s log left by Artpega’s mother, Uni-Bicon.

There was a monster noted there.

It was presumed to be the evolved form of the Medical Mushroom, possessing the ability to resurrect the dead.

I flipped open the explorer’s log to confirm if my memory was correct.

━━━━#-79━━━━

There are quite a few monsters that look similar to me.

Among them, I encountered a monster presumed to be the evolved form of Medical Mushroom.

It looked something like this.

This one can resurrect dead beings.

It was an incredibly overpowered ability owner.

I considered taming it, but I thought it wouldn’t be right to do so with a female, so I stopped.

Since I had never tried to have sex with the same sex, I wasn’t sure if taming would even work.

Well, it wasn’t like there was a situation where I could tame it to begin with.

It walked barefoot, and I tried to give it shoes as a gift to raise my favorability, but it just took the shoes and fled at the speed of light. I couldn’t even catch up due to its incredible speed. It was probably the fastest monster in the Labyrinth.

But looking back closely, I realized I wasn’t very good at drawing.

It’s not particularly fun to draw, so I doubt I’ll try it again.

━━━━━━━━━━

My memory was correct.

There indeed existed a monster capable of resurrecting the dead.

It wasn’t likely a Necromancer, so it probably had a high chance of reviving while maintaining the soul.

Fortunately,

the Guardian’s corpse still had a soul left.

‘It’s not certain if this is the evolved form of the Medical Mushroom… But let’s give it a try anyway.’

I turned my gaze toward the Medical Mushroom.

[Bee?]

I can’t wait for it to get the evolution buff from the Melody Fox.

In other words, I meant to use an Evolution Ticket.

Of course,

I currently didn’t have an Evolution Ticket in hand.

‘I haven’t gathered enough coins to purchase a Lustrous Evolution Ticket yet… But it’s more important to evolve the Mushroom quickly, so I should use the Vending Machine Tracking Ticket without hesitation. I can get more tracking tickets later when I return the Drifters, so it’ll be fine.’

Using the Vending Machine Tracking Ticket would solve part of the problem.

And hopefully, the Vending Machine I found using the tracking ticket would have an Evolution Ticket for sale.
