Mobile Suit Wars: Starting with Gundam OO

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: AEU's Actions

Today was a day Yang Hui had been eagerly anticipating. After a month of separation, he was finally going to reunite with Huang.

Wang Liumei, noticing Yang Hui's constant glances at the time and arrival indicators, quietly covered her mouth and smiled.

"What are you laughing at?"

"You look really cute right now."

"That's a word used to describe women, okay? Please use 'handsome and dashing' to describe me."

"Hahaha, really?"

"Yes! And…"

"And what?"

"Could you let go of me? I don't want to attract so much attention."

Yang Hui was really starting to get a headache. Since that night, this little girl had stopped hiding her feelings for him. For example, one morning, he had woken up to find an octopus-like grip on him, and no matter how much he tried to pull it off, he couldn't escape, only to be lectured not to make noise.

If he wasn't sure that he really hadn't done anything, Yang Hui might have been too embarrassed to even live.

He understood Wang Liumei's feelings for him, and he didn't intend to be irresponsible, but…

"Can't you wait until the mission is over to do this? I don't want to get dragged away."

"What's the big deal? I'm already yours, so it's normal for us to be close, or are you saying..."

"That's enough, if you like holding me, then hold me." Yang Hui cut her off, recognizing that with the sly smile on her face, trouble was coming, and quickly ended the conversation.

"Hahaha." Wang Liumei chuckled, but there was sweetness in her voice.

She had never had this kind of life experience before. Born into a large family, she had always been controlled. Her childhood was spent learning to maintain proper etiquette in front of others, putting on fake smiles, and shouldering the family's burdens. She was like a puppet, controlled by the elders—told what she could and could not do, what was expected of her. Even her marriage had been arranged for her…

That was why Wang Liumei longed for the world to change and even hated it. She joined Celestial Being and, later, even betrayed them—all just to take control of her own fate.

A simple, yet incredibly difficult wish.

In Yang Hui's memory, his initial judgment of Wang Liumei was never favorable, but after hearing about her past, he no longer had the same bias. However, accepting her feelings wasn't about pitying her. In a world like this, who hasn't endured hardships? Whose life is easy?

Still… some lines had to be maintained. She needed to wait until she was older before taking the next step.

"Ding dong—Train number XXXX has arrived, please passengers gather your belongings…"

"Let's go. They're here."

"Mm."

Wang Liumei obediently released Yang Hui's arm and followed him to meet Huang. She intentionally fell half a step behind to emphasize Yang Hui's importance.

Standing at the exit, Yang Hui caught sight of three figures walking out, his eyes immediately locking onto the one he had missed the most. The love and excitement in his gaze almost overflowed.

And as soon as she saw him, Huang rushed toward him, throwing herself into his arms and hugging him tightly.

"I missed you so much."

"I missed you too."

"Really? I don't think so," Huang tilted her head up with a teasing smile, looking over at Wang Liumei.

"Uh…"

Cold sweat poured down Yang Hui's face as he awkwardly avoided answering. Although he knew the two women had reached an understanding, at times like this, anything he said would be wrong. Better to stay quiet and let Huang handle it, especially when she was teasing him by squeezing his side.

"Hmph!" Huang pouted, dragging Wang Liumei away, completely ignoring Yang Hui, whispering and laughing to each other as they walked.

"Ah…" Yang Hui stared helplessly at their backs, as though wanting to hold them back.

At that moment, Christina and Filute passed by him. Filute, always the quiet one, simply nodded at Yang Hui in greeting, but Christina's words completely shattered Yang Hui's composure.

"This is what happens to a playboy, Mr. Meyerin."

Click.

"What? How am I a playboy? From start to finish, I've been the victim here. These two girls had already arranged everything for me behind the scenes, and I didn't even know until the situation exploded. Is that my fault?"

Yang Hui: (╥_╥)

...

The group made their way directly to Wang Liumei's private island without any more affection, diving straight into work.

The mission this time was to intervene militarily in Moralia.

Moralia was a unique country. Though small, no major power dared underestimate them. With a population of only 180,000, the country housed over 3 million foreign workers, and about 20% of the 4,000 private companies were PMC (Private Military Companies), which were a key part of their economy.

PMCs in Moralia handled everything from mercenary dispatch, soldier training, arms transportation, and development to maintaining armed forces.

However, the real reason Celestial Being decided to intervene militarily was because of Moralia's economic downturn following Celestial Being's previous interventions, which had caused fewer wars. To boost their economy, Moralia turned to the AEU for assistance and began a deep collaboration, even offering its territory as a battlefield.

In short, this mission was to some extent a situation where Celestial Being was being used by the AEU.

If Celestial Being succeeded, Moralia's strength would be further weakened, and the AEU could finally bring this nation into their camp, something they had been attempting for years without success. If the mission failed, capturing a Gundam would be worth more than the entire country of Moralia.

This was essentially a well-planned Gundam capture operation orchestrated by the AEU.

But Yang Hui wasn't worried.

Though the AEU had mobilized more forces after his grand entrance, bringing in more ace pilots to assist in the Moralia mission and even sending out Kati Mannequin earlier than in the original plot, they still had one extra Gundam on their side. The performance of the mobile suit and the skill of the Gundam pilots were nothing like what the original story had.

While Yang Hui wouldn't directly join the fray this time, he would remain close by, ensuring the mission's success.

That's right—just like in the original plot, the Virtue and Dynames had already descended to Earth, leaving only Exia and Kyrios aboard the Ptolemy.

Having five Gundams deployed to deal with a small country was quite an honor.

"The only variable is him. Should I take him out directly? But if I do that, Setsuna's growth…" Yang Hui pondered.

After careful consideration, Yang Hui decided to leave Setsuna and the Dylandy brothers to handle it. He could train his piloting, but he couldn't help with the inner growth needed for Setsuna to become a true pioneer of change. Losing these experiences would stunt his development.

Setsuna was the only true revolutionary, the best candidate for dialogue. If he lost these critical experiences, he might never become the person he was meant to be.

But the AEU wouldn't move against him, yet that didn't mean their crazed war-hungry underlings wouldn't. It might be cleaner to end the world sooner rather than later.

...

The Virtue and Dynames had successfully joined the other three Gundams and were enjoying their final preparations before the mission.

"Finally, it's our turn. If we stay in standby mode any longer, we'll get rusty," Allelujah stretched and said.

"I'm going to give it everything I've got this time," Tieria said, his impatience evident. The most enthusiastic supporter of Celestial Being's plans, Tieria had been on standby in space ever since the first mission. Watching his comrades complete mission after mission, his usually calm demeanor had been steadily replaced by frustration and irritability.

"Do whatever you want, Mr. Meyerin allows you to act within the plan's limits," Neil joked.

"Hmph!" Tieria growled. Mentioning Yang Hui always stirred up his anger. Though he'd been pushed to his limits during training, it was bearable. But after seeing Yang Hui's performance in the Talibia campaign, the gap in their strength had become nearly impossible to ignore.

Though it was a good thing for Celestial Being, Tieria couldn't shake the feeling that Yang Hui looked down on them.

"He really is amazing, huh? No wonder he was Young Tiger of the Earth Federation," Allelujah marveled.

"You guys only watched from space, you didn't feel it as we did. We were right next to him. We almost got scared to death, okay? The encirclement by Talibia and the UNION's combined forces barely lasted before Mr. Meyerin tore it apart. If I had swapped places with them, we'd be lucky just to escape safely, let alone complete the mission," Lyle said.

"Mr. Meyerin is incredible. The techniques he taught me are really useful," even Setsuna, usually quiet, gave Yang Hui rare praise.

"Well, let's prove to him that we, too, are Gundam pilots. We can complete the mission without needing to use his trump card," Tieria said to the group.

"Of course."

"I didn't sign up just to be a spectator."

"Let's show Mr. Meyerin our strength after our growth."

"We are also Gundam pilots."

The five of them encouraged each other and then checked the time. The mission was about to begin, and they each boarded their Gundams to make final preparations.

"Setsuna," Neil contacted Setsuna after checking the status of the Gundam.

"Lockon?"

"Don't cause too much trouble this time. I'm not near you."

"I won't. I'm a Gundam pilot. It's my duty to complete the mission."

"Is that so? Well, then, good luck."

Though they had built a solid bond, Neil still felt like the big brother leading four younger siblings on a mission.

Lyle was already his younger brother; Setsuna had a habit of making baffling decisions; Allelujah struggled with his split personality, and Hareluyah was prone to impulsiveness; Tieria sometimes tried to eliminate any potential threats to Celestial Being, even from his own teammates.

"Ugh, this is tough," Neil sighed.

Just then, Christina appeare

d on their screens.

"Current time is 0930. The Gundams will arrive at Talibia at 1000 and proceed to the designated location."

"Understood." X5
