Chapter 2: Chapter II - The chain of 101 uses
The studens make their opinions clear and loud.
-It's only the first week! This isn't fair at all!-
To wich aizawa counters with his own.
-If you had taken at least a second to look around, Japan is full of natural disasters, highway pileups... rampaging villains... all of wich are unfair, don't you think?-
-It is the hero's jobs to correct all of that, if you thought about spending your evenings dining at Mc'Donalds... then let me tell you... for the 3 years you'll be stuck here... U.A. will run you through the wringer-
-That is what PLUS ULTRA is all about... use your strength to overcome, and bring fairness once again...-
-So bring it on... No more demonstration... this time... do it for real-
mike's mind is stuck on the plus ultra Aizawa mentioned earlier, he didn't heard that last part of Aizawa's speech, while the copy of mike says:
Plus Ultra?... what kinda stupid name is that?... sounds like something a final boss of mathematics would say for it's ultimate move...*
Now it is time for:
Event one:
50-METER DASH
This one consists of a full sprint on a lane, 50 meters long, The goal is to clear it in the shortest time possible.
Two students will race againts each other, i guess just to save time, if not then i don't understand these Japanese games.
The first two to race are:
Ida Tenya - quirk: engine *broom broom motherfucker!*
Tsuyu Asui - quirk: frog *does whatever a bullfrog can (or any frog for that matter)*
Ida finished the lane in 3.04 seconds, while Tsuyu finished it in 5.58.
The next two are:
Ochako Uraraka - quirk: zero gravity *it's in the name*
Mashira Ojiro - quirk: tail *but he ain't a furry*
Ochako improved her time in middle school from 7.28 to 7.15 on the test.
Then the next:
Yuga Aoyama - quirk: navel laser *he can shoot a laser from his navel*
Mina Ashido - quirk: acid *if she ain't careful, she might cause an acid-ent... get it?*
You would think having a laser you can shoot at anytime might be the coolest thing, that is, if you can shoot it for more than a second, something a certain someone clearly doesn't know how to do.
In the end, Yuga ended the test in 5.52 seconds. Around 3 seconds less than what he did in middle school.
Aizawa keeps a close eye on the students abilities, mentioning a crucial part of what makes mike's quirk very powerful, but we still need to see what that quirk is.
Of course the next two are:
Katsuki Bakugou - quirk: explosion *they'll have to glue you back together... IN HELL*
Izuku Midoriya - quirk: One For All *he's basically a power battery now*
Using his quirk, Bakugou clears the 50-meter dash in 4.13 seconds, one second less than in middle school.
Izuku on the other hand, finishes on 7.02 seconds, barely an improvement from middle school.
And all this time mike, just like Aizawa, has been analizing all of the students's quirks, and he will continue to do so until the end of the test.
But while mike was lost in his thoughts, he hears a reluctant voice call out to him.
-Alright.. you're next...- said Aizawa, who was ignoring him this whole time.
Everyone turns to see mike who was being a silent ghost to them this entire time; they almost forgot he was even here, just like mike had foreseen. But unfortunately for him, he will get all the attention from now on.
mike proceeds to walk up to the race lane, but he doesn't see another student ready to race, so he asks.
-Where's the other one?- to which Aizawa replies.
-Everyone had already finished; is just you now-
Indeed, the class is only composed of 20 students, excluding mike, so he had no one to pair up with.
mike was going to question why he was picked last but decided not to press on the matter and get on with it.
As mike stands in the starting line, he looks over the lane to where the end is... he thinks of how he could get a high score on this test.
Aizawa is slightly annoyed that mike is taking a little too long, but he just maintains a fixed look on him, trying to figure out why he transferred here so late into classes.
What's so special about him that he had to wait a whole week to get this test done?
mike takes a deep breath and finally starts to move, Aizawa and the students wait in anticipation as to what he will do.
mike reaches into the inside of his sleeve, and from there, he takes out a chain.
A real chain, made of metal. Solid as any other chain.
The students and Aizawa are confused as to how mike could've hid a chain from the metal detector on the entrance to the school. But quickly they assume it's just part of mike's quirk.
mike does the same with his other sleeve, now holding a chain in each hand.
Aizawa is confused even more as to how chains could help him run faster, but he hasn't seen anything yet.
mike proceeds to kneel down and strikes the earth with the extreme of one of the chains, doing the same with the other one.
At this point, all that the students can do is watch how mike will clear the 50-meter dash with those chains.
He starts to back away from the starting line. Aizawa wonders if that's against the rules, but he's so intriged by this that he just stays quiet.
Each time he takes a step back, he can feel the chains tense more and more. And after mike had backed away 2 feet from the starting line , he shot out a chain from his back, pulling him away even more.
And with that... Mike recalls his chains into his body, but not before he gets shoot out at full speed like the arrow of a bow, and like such, Mike creates the shape of an arrowhead in front of him with his chain, making him more aerodynamic.
He shoots out so fast that he clears the course in 1.54 seconds, completely demolishing his time in middle school, which was 0 seconds...
Wait a second, or none... if mike's time in middle school was 0 seconds, doesn't that mean that mike will never beat his record? Only light could cover a 50-meter ground in less than a second, and mike was nowhere near the speed of light to do that... or at least... not yet.
In any case, it was reasonable for the students to be completely shocked at seeing mike finish that fast; even Aizawa wasn't able to form a thought in the moment, now knowing why mike had been sent here.
Mike tries to shoot a chain to the ground and pull himself to stop the momentum, and as he does so, he faces back at where everyone is. He looks down, trying hard to stop all of his velocity while leaving a trail on the dirt.
He can feel his palms heat up as he clings onto the chain, and finally comes to a stop.
Mike slowly gets up from his bowed-down posture, revealing all the dirt that got into his uniform and face. He reaches up to clean his mouth with the back of his hand, still hoding onto the chain.
Everyone looks at mike in disbelief, all still amazed by how fast he went, some of them still trying to understand what mike did.
Then mike walks back to where he stood prior to the dash.
Aizawa quickly gets a hold of himself and guides everyone to the next test.
While following Aizawa, mike can feel the students gazes like sharp needles on his body. He discretly glanzes around and sees how Midoriya looks at him, like if mike had just killed his whole family. He looks to the other side and sees Bakugou staring at him... like if mike had just killed his whole family.
Then mike looked forward again with an annoyed look on his face.
But now it was time for the second event, which was:
Event two:
GRIP STRENGTH TEST
mike looks around and sees Mezo who did 540 kg on the test, which is almost 12 times what he did in middle school.
mike then proceeds to take his test, and surprising enough, even with his slim arm, he managed to get 50 kg, guess true strength comes from the inside, and with that in mind, mike pulls out chains from his arm and wraps it around the strenth test, and it goes all the way up to 4, almost 5 tons; it even broke the strenth test, but thankfully Aizawa wasn't looking, so mike tosses the broken test away and takes out a new one from unsuspecting hands from a classmate, and does the same, but this time it is 1 ton, just enough so it doesn't break again.
Event three:
STANDING LONG JUMP
While the others land in the sand, mike just clears the entire sandbox by shooting his chains to the otherside and tuggin at them.
Event four:
SIDE STEPPING
mike watches in amazement at Mineta's approach to the test; he had thought that jumping was required, but now things have gotten interesting.
When mike steps in between the lines, he makes two structers, one on each side, only connected by a single chain. mike proceeds to grip the chain, lift his feet off the ground, and begin shaking from one side to the other very violently.
Mineta is mad and ashtonished seeing mike copy his idea but better executed.
-HE'S COPYING ME!- he screams camly.
Aizawa doesn't know how many 'jumps' those were, so he exaggerates the amount and moves on.
Event five:
TRHOWING
(dammit i always get that wrong)
While everyone gets their turn at pitching the ball, mike recounts all the quirks he saw today, looking at each and every student, but he noticed something...
Midoriya hasn't used his quirk at all during these excersices... *why is that?* asked the copy of mike.
Mike looks back at Uraraka who had threw the ball already, and it just kept going up and up, nonstop.
-damn...- mike said to himself.
But now it was Izuku's turn. mike watches Izuku walk up to the circle with dread in his eyes.
Up to this point, he hasn't shown any signs of ever using a quirk during any test. mike starts to get suspicious, and then he overhears what Bakugou said about him being quirkless.
How the hell did he get in then? I don't believe that for a second. It's always the same. The weakest-looking guy always hides some kind of ultimate superpower or something, and based on looks, he fits the picture perfectly... in simpler terms... that bitch's hiding something... and if it ever gets in my way somehow... it's gonna be a real problem* said the copy of mike.
Midoriya, as he's about to throw the ball with his quirk, is then stopped by Aizawa from using it.
And the ball just landed 46 meters away...
-HUH... But i was trying to use it...- he said in disbelief.
-I erroned your quirk- said Aizawa.
Aizawa's bandages around his neck start to levitate.
-Erased?... Those goggles... of course...- Midoriya starts to piece everything together.
-He's the erasure hero, ERASER HEAD!-
-Eraser head? Have I heard that name before? No... I don't recall, but someone who erases quirks while working as a hero is a little suspicious, not to mention his mannerism.
Mike had too many questions and no courage to ask them, so he just stands there as an expectator.
-I saw it... You can't control it, can you? It would just incapacitate you again- Said Aizawa
-Were you hoping for someone to come and rescue your sorry ass afterwards?-
-N-no... it's not like that...-
Before Izuku could finish speaking, Aizawa squeezed him with his bandages.
-Whatever it was, it would only have led to you inconveniencing those around you-
-Back when a certain hot-headed hero saved over a thousand people, he made himself a legend-
-You may be as reckless, but after saving one... you're useless-
-You will NOT become a hero, using that power like so...-
Aizawa takes a moment to collect himself.
-I'll give you your quirk back... try again... be quick now-
Izuku stands there, muttering to himself.
Mike knows something is up, and he will find out what it is, whether Midoriya likes it or not.
Aizawa is dripping something on his eyes.
Then izuku decides to throw the ball again. He focuses all his power on the tip of his finger.
And throws the ball way high into the air. The ball reaches 705.3 meters.
With tears in his eyes and a forced smile, he says to Aizawa.
-sensei...! I... can still move-
Aizawa, as well as the other students, including mike, are amazed at seeing him throw the ball so high up.
mike pinches the bridge of his nose while looking down.
-just as I predicted...- he looks at Izuku once again.
-...this will be a problem in the future...- he knows that ain't the end of it...
Uraraka cheers, while others point out the cool aspects of that throw.
But someone isn't very excited to see Izuku use his quirk.
Bakugou lashes out at Midoriya but is quickly stopped by Aizawa.
mike, on the other hand, is very much lost in his own world. A hand covers his nose and mouth, thinking of all the possible outcomes that Izuku's quirk may bring in the future.
After the fight is settled, Aizawa calls out for mike, since he's the last one to throw.
But this time, Aizawa didn't leave him last because he was ignoring him... this time, he wants to focus all his attention on him, considering how well he has performed so far.
-mike- Aizawa calls but gets no response.
-Mike!- he keeps calling, but mike doesn't hear him.
-MICHAEL MILES!- Aizawa shouts.
mike then snaps back to reality and looks at the teacher, surprised.
-*ahem* you're up...-
mike then slowly but surely walks towards the throwing circle.
Up to this point, mike was in first place due to his ingeniousness and the way he utilizes his chains in the most unique ways possible; he didn't need to be ripped or super strong; he just had to be smart, and this caught the attention of one of the students:
Momo Yaoyorozu - quirk: creation *c'mon momo! I just need a few bars of gold!*
Notorious for her intellect and big... b-... brain... yeah.
She sees something in mike, is it potential, is it intellect equal to hers? Or perhaps something more... selfish?
In any case, mike is now standing on the throwing circle. Aizawa hands him the ball, and mike analyzes the ball thoroughly.
He keeps looking at the ball, then at the field, and then at the ball again, carefully contemplating his next move.
Then he proceeds to ask:
-i cannot move from this circle, correct?-
-Correct...- Aizawa says as he nods.
mike goes back to being silent again before warning Aizawa.
-You might want to step back...-
Aizawa raises an eyebrow before he and the class take a few steps back, wondering what Mike is about to do and waiting anxiously.
mike then proceeds to wrap the ball with his chains and makes a rock sling out of them.
mike places the ball wrapped in chains on the rock sling.
Everyone is anticipating this, even All-might who was watching everything in secret.
mike now begins to spin the rock sling.
As mike spun the rock sling more and more, he began to move in circles as well, each turn building more and more momentum.
Aizawa and the class watch as mike moves in circles while still spinning the rock sling, all waiting anxiously for him to throw the ball, wondering how far he's going to throw it.
As mike spins faster, his moves become almost like a coreography, so fluid and mezmerizing.
Aizawa and the class watched mike move intently, both shocked and fascinated by the way he moved, looking like he was an experienced professional.
After mike had enough speed and power, his eye flashed for a brief moment before throwing the ball as high as the human eye can see, leaving a powerful shockwave on the ground.
Everyone was more than shocked; the previous throw that Izuku, and hell even Bakugou's, were put to shame by mike's throw.
The ball now heads directly into the stratosphere. The ball that Uraraka had threw earlier was about to leave it, but at the last second, mike's ball came at supersonic speed, splitting her's in half.
Aizawa's eyes can't believe the numbers that keep rising and rising until the indicator says that mike's ball reached a length of 7,290 meters.
They all look at him in shock, having just realized how insanely powerful his quirk is.
mike stands up again, his hands shaking. He feels as if a thousand ants were crawling beneath his skin.
Aizawa notices this, but before he could say anything, mike walks back to where he previously was standing.
mike knows he just needs a moment to recover from the impact, and he'll be good.
After a couple of more tests, the events were finished, and now the scoreboard was up.
-Alright, come and look how you did today- said Aizawa.
mike was still a bit wobbly due to rolling around so much on the endurance running test, so he had to use a cane made of a chain to keep him on his feet.
-Also, I was lying about expelling someone- said Aizawa.
Everyone's eyes are wide open, mike with a frown on his face.
-That was rational deception... meant to make you give it your all- he lets out a small chuckle.
-WHAAAAAAA?- said the students.
-Of course it was a lie; you don't need to be a genius to figure that out- proclaimed Momo.
mike wasn't surprised because it was a lie, but more because if this was the person that was going to teach them heroic stuff, then mike wanted none of that.
-Anyway, we're done here. Your curriculums and what not are in the classroom, so go check that out- said Aizawa as he walked away.
A screen displays the student's rankings. mike ended up first, of course, followed suit by Momo, then Bakugou, all the way until reaching Izuku, who got last place.
