Chapter 2013: -1971- Form this contract with me
After discussing for quite some time in the central control room, everyone finally announced the meeting's conclusion.
Just like before, with the Singularity now repaired, Rozen and his companions—who had finished their battle—needed to rest and recover to ensure a smooth journey to the next Singularity. Meanwhile, Roman and the others had to work overtime to fully prepare for the next Spiritron Transfer.
This time, in particular, marked the final Singularity. With its era and location already observed, the only thing left was to prepare for the transfer. This realization filled everyone with determination.
As long as this final Spiritron Transfer was successfully completed and the last Singularity was repaired, proper human history would finally be restored, and human civilization could continue.
At this point, everyone could finally see a glimmer of hope for success.
Thus, in order to overcome this final hurdle, everyone vowed to give their all and fight with everything they had.
As a result, Chaldea seemed to be more alive than ever, radiating an unprecedented vitality. The entire atmosphere had changed—it was as if the place was ablaze with energy, brimming with an explosive spirit.
Under such circumstances, Rozen and his companions once again became the most idle individuals in Chaldea.
This was no different from before. Rozen and his team were responsible solely for combat, allowing them to use the rest of their time to adjust and improve themselves, while Chaldea handled all other affairs.
The difference this time was that it wasn't just Rozen and Mash who found themselves with free time—three more Servants had joined them.
"I'll go take a stroll."
Artoria [Alter] spoke as if she were tending to her own kingdom, then left to explore Chaldea.
"Humanity's last stronghold? Let me see how impressive it really is."
Jeanne [Alter] made a similar comment, turning away as she strode off.
"Please rest assured, Rozen-sama. I will stay by your side at all times."
Unlike the two [Alter] Servants who roamed freely, Hassan of Serenity clung tightly to Rozen, following him wherever he went.
"Why don't you go explore on your own?"
Rozen, unable to bear it, tried several times to send Serenity away, but to no avail.
The girl would only look at him with pitiful eyes before clinging to him once again, refusing to leave even for a moment.
This left Rozen utterly helpless.
"To think I ended up forming a formal contract with a Servant like this… should I be happy about it?"
In the past, Rozen refrained from using the Heroic Spirit Summoning ritual to summon new Servants. The reason was simple—he could never be sure what kind of personality the summoned Servant would have, whether they would get along, or if they would be difficult to manage. If they turned out to be too troublesome, he would rather not summon them at all and instead rely on his other familiars.
From this perspective, Serenity was entirely devoted to Rozen, willing to give him everything—even her life. By that logic, Rozen should be grateful. But her extreme clinginess was proving to be quite the ordeal.
It wasn't that Rozen disliked Serenity. If anything, she possessed a charm of her own. But as a man who had already experienced intimacy, Rozen feared he might end up doing something improper if she kept clinging to him like this.
Even though Serenity herself seemed completely unbothered—if anything, she appeared to be expecting such a development—Rozen still found himself at a loss.
"She's just like Yaya."
Perhaps that was the real reason why Rozen didn't dare to act recklessly.
Men naturally desire to claim adorable prey—that much is undeniable.
However, when the roles are reversed, and they become the prey, that's an entirely different matter.
Even if the experience might not be unpleasant, having gone through Yaya's relentless advances, Rozen found himself unable to enjoy such situations anymore.
Besides…
"How am I supposed to get anything done with her glued to me like this?"
Rozen sighed.
Now that he had returned to Chaldea, he was finally able to relax, but at the same time, certain thoughts were stirring in his mind.
"Should I just go ahead and make Mash mine?"
Rozen found himself thinking along those lines.
Back in the Sixth Singularity, his bond with Mash had already reached a peak. He had done everything that should be done, so perhaps now was the time to claim her fully.
While part of this thought stemmed from the simple desires of a regretful man, the greater reason was that Rozen was preparing to leave Chaldea and travel to another world. Before that, he wanted to make Mash truly his, once and for all.
If possible, he even wanted to form an Absolute Contract with her.
"That way, Mash would be completely protected from fading away."
Rozen hadn't forgotten the tragedy that had befallen Mash.
Only by forming an Absolute Contract and engraving her into his soul as a familiar—ensuring that she would never be separated from him, never die—could Rozen leave without regret.
In short, before leaving Chaldea, there were many things he needed to do with Mash.
But how was he supposed to accomplish anything with Serenity constantly sticking to him?
And every time he tried to send her away, she would look heartbroken, as if he had abandoned her.
This gave Rozen a major headache.
"Should I just give up?"
For a brief moment, Rozen actually considered it.
But the thought of leaving Mash behind, only for her condition to deteriorate in his absence, made him firm his resolve.
"I swore to fix every regret—to leave no unfinished business in any world."
There were still several worlds Rozen needed to return to and resolve his unfinished matters. He couldn't allow Mash's life to become a lingering concern.
With that in mind, Rozen made up his mind.
"Hey, Serenity, do you really not want to be apart from me? Do you want to stay with me forever?"
Turning around, Rozen directly confronted Serenity with this question.
Serenity was momentarily taken aback, but she immediately responded without hesitation.
"Yes. I am willing to give you everything, Rozen-sama."
She answered without the slightest doubt.
During her lifetime, anyone who came into contact with Serenity would die. She was doomed to wander the world alone, executing assassination after assassination, forging deep bonds with her targets before ultimately taking their lives.
This existence had brought her nothing but suffering.
Because of this, Serenity had long ago made up her mind—if she ever found someone who could touch her without dying, she would give them her everything.
And now, such a person had appeared before her.
She would not let him go.
Rozen sensed her unwavering resolve.
In that case…
"I have a contract that can make you my familiar—binding you as a record engraved upon my soul, forever serving me, sharing my fate. Will you form this contract with me?"
Rozen spoke these words.
Yes.
He was preparing to form an Absolute Contract with Serenity.
Once the contract was established, he would be able to dismiss her summoning at any time.
That way, he would finally be free to go find Mash.
Meanwhile, Serenity's eyes lit up with joy rather than shock.
"I accept!"
She answered without a moment's hesitation.
And so, Rozen and Hassan of Serenity formed an Absolute Contract.
