Determination filled my eyes as I clicked on buy, only only to grit my teeth at the error message that pops up.
{Error: Broke Peasant 69}
My face face darkens as I let out a frustrated chuckle.
"Ooo, if someone gave me this quirk and it wasn't a naturally manifested one they better prepare for a beating when I find them."
Ignoring the prompt, I decide to click on sell only to end up with the same error message.
"What the hell?!"
Banging on the table, I accidentally knock the mouse off the table, causing it to accidentally click on the exchange button.
[Convert]
1. Mining (Novice) - > 0.5 EC
2. Wrestling (Perfect) - > up to 3 EC
3. Parrying (Perfect) - > up to 10 EC
4. Cooking (Competent) - > up to 1.5 EC
6. Clothes (Standard) - > 0.0000000001 EC
Convert higher tier skills as the cosmic exchange lists more coins!
(buy) (sell) (skills) (portfolio) (explore)
"I see. Does this mean that anything that I own, be it money, items, or skills, can be converted into EC? Interesting."
I click on Mining and confirm the conversion, luckily this exchange doesn't tax any of the EC made unlike the ones in the real world.
{Conversion Successful!}
Just as I was about to click on the Portfolio button to view my balance, a new prompt appeared.
[Milestone Reached: First Conversion]
Please choose a reward:
1. Tinker-Tinker No Mi (Pure)
2. Ramen (Spicy) x20
3. DC-15 Blaster Pistol (Unlimited Ammo)
"Hmm, I was right. As I make progress through this exchange I can earn rewards. Perhaps everytime that I reach a milestone with coins, I can get more rewards."
Seeing the options, I couldn't help but frown.
"Isn't this a no brainier? I can just make the blaster with the Tinker-Tinker, also I can just grab some materials and make something to sell so that I can buy food.
Does the 'Pure' that it's labelled with mean that it doesn't come with the curse of the sea?"
Deciding to find out for myself, I pick option one.
{Choice Confirmed.}
After waiting for a few seconds, wondering if the prompt was just messing with me, I decide to check if anything change later when I leave my quirk space.
"For now my priority should be buying coins so that I can make profits and trigger a milestone."
Moving to the explore tab, I once again see the coin list.
[Cosmic Crypto Exchange]
Become rich, exchange cash or skills, we arn't picky! Just buy some damn Crypto!
1. Cosmic Coin £0.00000095
2. Chad Coin £0.00083
(buy) (sell) (convert) (portfolio) (skills)
Perfect, they've both gone down a bit, but I can only afford to buy one if I want to maximise my short term profits.
So I chose the smallest coin, naturally.
[Buy]
0.5 EC - > 263,157.89 CC
{Confirmed}
Nodding my head, I look at the top of the screen for a power off button or a X to close the browser. It was a power off button that I found first.
Shutting down the computer, I was suddenly thrown back into reality.
After taking a few seconds to look around my apartment, only one thought crossed my mind.
'Meh, I've seen worse. It's a standard small apartment with a bedroom, bathroom, and a kitchen connected to the living room. Nothing really noteworthy.'
Now that I'm not messing with the exchange anymore let's get down to business and start planning.
1. Test the Tinker-Tinker ability
2. Make some tech and sell it
3. Buy food, I'm starving
4. Figure out if this is a abridged or normal universe.
5. Gain a background, I need some kind of shield. Maybe I should join U.A's support course. It would be easier to contact Nezu.
6. Make some equipment for combat
7. Start small fighting street level villains, I don't know how strong people over here are.
8. As my power grows start working up towards flipping this society on its head and exposing all the corruption and frauds.
9. Make sure that casualties are kept to a minimum.
10. Try to live as best as possible without becoming a scumbag.
"Ok, that's the rough plan. Let's get started."
Picking up the iPad sitting on the coffee table, a laptop and USB cable, I set to work testing this Tinker-Tinker skill.
As far as I know, this skill will allow me to create any machine that I have the materials and tools to create. Not knowing how to make what I want to make is not a problem.
Since I'm also able to make machines, I was wondering if I was able to code as well...well, I was but it wasn't languages like C++ or Java, it was pure binary coding.
Hmm, re-programming the microchip in the iPad has converted the default language burned into it to binary as well. Considering that this is the modern era, very few people will be able to understand binary coding anymore so it really might require someone with a targeted quirk for this task to reverse engineer what I'm making.
Unless it's Nezu of course.
Anyway, after about twenty minutes of working, I finally finished my task, and I have to say, I'm loving the design.
The iPad is now using a black and dark red format for text and background, as well as the new Ouroboros logo on the startup screen.
Not only have I changed the design but I've also optimised to transitions and response time. Now there will be no delay when I swipe the screen or tap on an app.
The resources are being used at one hundred percent effeciency so the 16GB RAM should always be enough for what I need it for, that being said, I had to upgrade the CPU. Damn, that was slow.
The best parts of the improved iPad though are the apps and settings that I've added.
First off, incognito is fully incognito, no one will be able to track or read any data on the iPad.
Second, I can tap into any WiFi without the providers or users noticing, FREE WIFI!
Third, I added an app that allows me to control the CCTV cameras within a two building distance, and I can monitor any camera in the city.
Fourth, crypto currency exchange, this world doesn't seem to have a crypto currency exchange so I built one and made my own startup coin.
The tax for this is 0.25% fee for conversion, payments and withdrawals. Of course I upgraded my laptop as well to handle the incoming traffic, the iPad just has the app.
And last but not least, signal scrambler, I have made it so that any signals that I don't want being sent within one hundred feet will be blocked, like police radios.
Later I will make a hacking tool with a targeted purpose that I can carry with me everywhere, but for now I need to prioritise.
Now that I've tested my skill I need to make something to sell that will make me some money without someone wondering if I'm a criminal or upsetting the current technology progress in the world.
But what should I make?
"Ah! Despite MHA being really advanced, they don't have lightsabers yet!"
Grinning, I get ready to create the first lightsaber to exist in this world, only for my eye to twitch as I realise that I don't have the materials necessary to make one.
Dammit.
Ok, ok. Maybe I shouldn't make something like that just yet, even if I did, I still need to find a buyer who won't try to con me.
laser pens it is.
Grabbing a set of metal pens with copper lining, emptying the ink and washing them, I carefully take them apart and start modifying them, ending up making the slightly bigger but it doesn't matter that much, as long as it's not uncomfortable to hold, that would be suspicious.
After finishing the set of pens, I pick one up and decide to test it. Heading outside, I point the writing end of the pen towards the sky, press down on the clicker and watch as the small, concentrated laser shoots up into the sky before pressing the clicker again and heading back inside.
"Cool, it seems this skill always succeeds as long as I have the materials, if I don't have the tools, I can just make them."
Looking at what I've created I feel a sense of pride before the image of a sword coated in a red aura plunging into my stomach crosses my mind, immediately scouring my mood and causing me to get angry.
"Not this time, I'm not ready yet but soon I'll walk my path to bring about change in this word, and this time no one will have the chance to stab me in the back." I growl.
