Chapter 91: Chapter 091 Choosing a Hero Name (1/3)
Ezaki Kitazawa glanced at her and then slowly said, "Are you trying to get me to go shopping with you again? If that's the case, no way."
Toga Himiko pouted and showed an expression of being abandoned. "Ezaki-kun, how could you say that? Everything I said came from the heart of Toga."
"Alright, alright, stop with the nonsense. After we finish eating, come and train in the forest with me."
Ezaki Kitazawa muttered, "More training again? How do you manage to stick with such boring training for so long?"
Toga Himiko replied, "But you know, Ezaki-kun, training really is dull and tedious. If I could, I'd just live a relaxed life—eat, drink, and hang out with girls. That kind of life sounds so good. But unfortunately, in this world, if you don't have power, you're as good as dead. Like that time before, when we were attacked by All For One. If I hadn't been working hard with my training, I might have been done for by now. Life's just too hard."
Ezaki Kitazawa sighed. Toga Himiko was a little confused by his words and didn't quite understand what he meant. "By the way, Ezaki-kun, have you eaten?"
Ezaki Kitazawa said, "Now that you mention it, I am a bit hungry. I slept in today until past one, then brushed my teeth and came to find you. Of course, I ate a bread on the way here."
When Toga Himiko heard this, she knew it was her time to show off her cooking skills. "Let me tell you, I've been bored lately, so I've learned how to make a lot of dishes. What do you want to eat?"
"Anything's fine, as long as it's not poisonous."
"Ezaki-kun..."
"What?"
"Do you doubt my cooking skills?"
Ezaki Kitazawa gave her a speechless look, stood up, and gently pushed Toga Himiko towards the kitchen. "No, no, hurry up and make your best dishes."
If anyone saw this scene, they might think something was going on between them. Not long after, Toga Himiko finished making a few of her best dishes. Ezaki Kitazawa tried them and, to his surprise, they were really good. Afterward, he went to train.
Time passed quickly, and before he knew it, it was the day for the training exam. However, the weather wasn't great—it was raining heavily.
"Today, I need to talk about something special," Aizawa Shouta said slowly as he stood at the podium.
The students immediately became nervous. "Special? Is it a quiz?"
"A quiz? No way, the sports festival just ended," Aizawa Shouta rolled his eyes and calmly said, "No, it's about considering your hero names."
"Hero names?"
"Yes, actually, this is connected to the job application for professional heroes I mentioned earlier. You'll have to gain experience before the application takes effect, which will be after 2 to 3 years when you're recognized."
"So, this application we're receiving now is more like a personal interest in your future as a hero."
"If this interest fades before you graduate, it's common for the application to be canceled."
Aizawa Shouta continued slowly, "… The adults are too casual about this!"
Mineta complained, "Yeah, so this means the application will just put a lot of pressure on us, right?"
"That's about the gist of it. If you don't meet their expectations later, the application could be canceled."
Aizawa Shouta explained as he picked up a remote control from the podium and pressed a button. In the next second, a data table appeared on the blackboard.
"This is the result of the school's application statistics," Aizawa Shouta said, pointing at the blackboard. There was no doubt about it—the top of the application list was Ezaki Kitazawa. However, right behind him, Todoroki Shoto was also close, while Bakugo Katsuki ranked third, far behind. The others were scattered. "In previous years, the applications were more spread out, but this year, most of them are focused on these three."
"Well, it's true. This year's first-year battles were really exciting. The media even called it the most thrilling first-year battle in U.A.'s history," Aizawa Shouta said calmly.
As Aizawa Shouta explained, everyone began discussing the topic.
"So, that's the result. Whether you've received an application or not, you all need to participate in what's called 'workplace experience'," he continued.
"After the USJ incident, you've already experienced real combat with enemies earlier than others. But the school wants you to experience the activities of professional heroes firsthand, to gain even more practical training," Aizawa Shouta explained.
"So, that's why you need to come up with a hero name?"
"That instantly makes it exciting," one student said.
"A hero name?" Ezaki Kitazawa blinked, slightly bothered. Naming things was always troublesome for him.
