Chapter 112: Bakugo x Deku
The weight of textbooks felt like lead in Izuku's hands. Fourth year was brutal. Finals loomed, threatening to swallow him whole, but an even bigger anxiety gnawed at him. Valentine's Day was just around the corner. For years, he'd harbored a secret, a burning ember that refused to be extinguished. He was in love with Katsuki Bakugo.
Confessing felt like walking into a volcano. Bakugo was explosive, unpredictable, and Izuku, well, Izuku was Izuku. A nervous, mumbling mess, especially around him. But the thought of another Valentine's Day passing without Bakugo knowing… it was unbearable.
He spent the night before crafting a note. He wrote and rewrote it, crumpling countless drafts. Finally, he settled on something simple, something honest. He poured his heart into it, hoping, praying it would be enough.
"Kacchan," he wrote, his hand trembling slightly. "I know we've been rivals, friends... everything for so long. But there's something I need to tell you. I... I have feelings for you. Strong ones. Happy Valentine's Day. - Izuku."
The next morning, heart pounding, he snuck into Bakugo's dorm while he was at class. He placed the folded note on his bed, right beside the All Might figure. A silent wish for courage escaped his lips.
Later that afternoon, back in his own dorm, Izuku attempted to study. He couldn't focus. Every creak of the hallway, every distant shout, sent his heart racing. What if Bakugo was furious? Disgusted? What if this ruined everything?
He was pacing his small room when the door slammed open. He yelped, stumbling backward as a familiar figure stormed in. It was Bakugo, eyes blazing, that signature smirk playing on his lips.
"Kacchan!" Izuku gasped, his face heating up.
Bakugo didn't say a word. He closed the distance between them in two strides and, before Izuku could react, pinned him against the bed. The world tilted, his breath catching in his throat.
"K-Kacchan," he stammered, the old nickname slipping out in his surprise. His cheeks burned, his pulse hammered in his ears. "What are you-"
"You finally gonna say something, Deku?" Bakugo growled, his voice rough but… strangely soft? "You've been staring at me like a damn puppy for years. Thought I wouldn't notice?"
Izuku swallowed hard, finding his voice. "Kacchan…" he whispered, his eyes searching Bakugo's own.
And then, Bakugo kissed him.
It wasn't gentle. It wasn't hesitant. It was fierce, possessive, and everything Izuku had ever dreamed of. The world dissolved around him, the textbooks, the exams, everything faded away.
When Bakugo finally pulled back, Izuku was breathless, his eyes wide with shock and something akin to wonder.
Bakugo's smirk widened. "Happy Valentine's Day, Deku," he said, his voice low and husky. "Took you long enough."
Izuku, still reeling, could only manage a shaky smile. "I… You… Happy Valentine's Day, Kacchan."
That was the start of their relationship. It wasn't smooth. There were explosions, arguments, and a lot of yelling. But beneath the fire, there was something undeniable. A connection forged in childhood, tested by rivalry, and finally, blossoming into something real. And Izuku knew, with every fiber of his being, that he wouldn't have it any other way.
