MHA Dungeon Master

Chapter 22: Commission

Mouri Detective Agency Office.

Standing firmly before me now was a two-story building. It wasn't particularly tall, but it radiated a timeless aura. Its facade was predominantly pale cream, appearing slightly worn, yet this only enhanced its antique and mysterious charm. Large windows on the second floor were adorned with sturdy-looking dark brown wooden frames, while a small balcony above the entrance added a touch of elegance to the structure.

Emilia, Ryuko-nee, and I currently stood directly in front of the building. It bore an uncanny resemblance to Kogoro Mouri's detective agency, an iconic office from a detective anime series hugely popular in my previous life. Every exterior detail, from the color of the wall paint to the shape of the windows and doors, felt incredibly familiar, as if I were seeing the anime set in person.

In my past life, a place like this would have been the epicenter of numerous mysterious cases, full of puzzles and ultimately solved by the main character. This building, with its distinctive and unforgettable exterior, truly evoked a surge of memories and a powerful sense of nostalgia within me.

For a moment, a strange thought crossed my mind. Could it be that I had truly crossed over to another world again? This sense of déjà vu was intensely strong, permeating every cell of my memory. I wondered inwardly, could all of this just be a mere coincidence? Or was there some kind of invisible thread connecting these two worlds?

These thoughts caused my heart to race, a mix of intriguing curiosity and a faint, inexplicable fear stirring within me.

With hesitant yet curious steps, I dared to enter the building. I wanted to immediately confirm if the interior was exactly the same as the detective agency etched in my memory. The wooden door creaked softly as I pushed it open, leading me into a dimly lit yet warm and inviting room.

However, a surprise awaited me inside. The first person to greet me was not the Kogoro Mouri I knew, but a young man estimated to be under 30 years old.

His figure momentarily reminded me of a young Kudo Shinichi, the intelligent and charming high school detective. However, there was an undeniable resemblance in his face to the often-goofy Uncle Kogoro. His calm and dignified face exuded a strong aura of confidence, as if he were someone capable of overcoming any problem he faced.

But there was one truly iconic feature that immediately caught my attention: his gleaming bald head. On both sides of his head, exactly where ears should be, were two USB ports that shimmered like metal. This was an incredibly unique characteristic that made him easily recognizable in a crowd.

This uniqueness strongly suggested to me that he must possess a Quirk related to computers or advanced technology. Perhaps his Quirk allowed him to interact directly with the digital world, or even possess the ability to analyze information at supercomputer speeds.

"Welcome," he greeted politely, his voice gentle yet dignified, "My name is Mouri Shinichi. What business do you three young people have visiting my office, which shouldn't be attractive to young people like you?"

The question was posed with a slightly hesitant tone, as if he were both curious and a little wary of our unusual visit. His calm yet penetrating voice made me feel slightly nervous but also intrigued by his personality.

I felt a jolt of surprise and bewilderment upon hearing his name. Mouri Shinichi. That name was also very iconic and familiar to my ears, as it was the name of the main character from the detective anime series hugely popular in my previous life. This extraordinary coincidence further amplified the wonder and mystery of this place, making me even more curious about the true identity of this young man before me.

After hearing his name, another question arose in my mind. Could it be that criminal organizations like the Black Organization or the Wine Cellar also existed in this world? And if so, was this Mouri Shinichi involved in those organizations, or was he perhaps their sworn enemy?

Perhaps you're curious as to why the three of us, ordinary school students, would end up at a detective agency like this. Well, let me explain. It all began with an urgent need. I needed to find the whereabouts of certain people with specific characteristics.

We came to this detective agency with a clear and pressing purpose, and with great hope of obtaining professional assistance to solve the problem I was currently facing. This problem was no ordinary matter, but rather an important mission that very likely would influence my future, and perhaps the future of those around me as well.

This series of events began a few days ago, precisely when I successfully completed the annual task given by the mysterious system that was a part of me. As a reward for my success, the system bestowed upon me a series of extraordinary gifts. This event marked the true beginning of my journey to become the strongest.

Suddenly, a series of notifications appeared before me, filling my vision with a soft golden light. The notifications read:

[Congratulations on obtaining three genius-level talent enhancers that can be freely chosen]

[Congratulations on receiving a twofold increase in all stats]

[Congratulations on unlocking the Storage Box feature]

[Congratulations on unlocking the Quirk Database feature]

[Congratulations as the first floor dungeon door can now be opened]

A total of five gifts were bestowed upon me in succession, like a torrential downpour. These gifts were not merely encouragement or momentary pleasure, but fundamentally unlocked various new abilities and opportunities that I had never imagined before. Each gift had the potential to drastically change my life.

The first gift was the most eye-catching. The system gave me the freedom to choose any 3 talents I possessed and transform those talents into genius-level talents in their respective fields. This was an extraordinary opportunity of immeasurable value.

With this gift, I could enhance my skills in the fields that I was most interested in and considered important to achieve my goals. I could choose talents in combat, strategy, analysis, or even more exotic and unexpected fields. The choice was entirely in my hands.

The second gift was no less tempting. The system directly doubled all my stats. That meant, instantly, I became twice as strong, twice as fast, twice as agile, and twice as intelligent as before.

This drastic increase in strength made me feel more confident and better prepared to face the various challenges and obstacles that might lie ahead. I felt as if I had leveled up in a role-playing game, and now possessed abilities far beyond the limits of ordinary humans.

The third gift was the Storage Box feature. This feature sounded simple, yet was very practical and useful. The Storage Box allowed me to store various items, just like storing items in a game.

With this feature, I could carry various important equipment, weapons, supplies, or even strange objects that might be useful later, without feeling burdened by their weight or size. I could store anything I needed in a personal, unlimited storage dimension, and recall it whenever I needed it.

The fourth gift was the Quirk Database. This feature was a very comprehensive information library, allowing me to store detailed information about other people's Quirks within me in the form of digital data.

It should be emphasized that this feature would not grant me the ability to mimic or use other people's Quirks. This feature purely functioned as an information database. However, the information stored in this database could be very valuable in various situations, especially in understanding the strengths and weaknesses of opponents, or in searching for specific Quirks for special purposes.

To obtain someone's Quirk data, I needed to make direct physical contact with the target. This meant I had to meet in person and touch the person whose Quirk I wanted to register in the database.

This required face-to-face interaction, and of course, detailed information about my chosen targets, including their identities, locations, and habits. This Quirk data collection process became one of the main reasons why I was now in this detective agency office.

The fifth gift, and perhaps the most mysterious, was the feature that was supposed to be the core of my Quirk, which was a gate to enter a dungeon. Dungeon? An underground world full of monsters and treasures? This thought immediately sent my imagination soaring.

This feature opened the way for me to gain further strength enhancements, as well as providing great opportunities to test my skills and new abilities in actual combat. This dungeon was as if it were the main stage in my journey to become the strongest.

This gift was given to me in the form of a gray key. The key immediately occupied a special slot in the newly opened Storage Box. This key was not just an ordinary item, but an important tool that allowed access to a new world full of challenges and mysteries inside the dungeon.

However, when I wanted to try to use the key and enter the dungeon, a warning message appeared. Apparently, to be able to enter the dungeon, I had to complete a special mission first. This mission was an essential and unavoidable requirement before I could fully utilize my new abilities and explore the dungeon world. The system always had its rules and challenges.

The content of the special mission was to find two Quirks closely related to the keyword [Vampire] and store the data of these two Quirks in my Quirk Database. This challenge seemed difficult and rather strange, but I felt challenged to complete it with burning determination. Vampire? Why vampires? This question kept swirling in my head, but I was sure there must be a logical reason behind this mission.

After successfully collecting data on two vampire-themed Quirks, I had to select these two Quirks from the Quirk Database and combine them with the dungeon gate key I had just obtained. This combination process aimed to activate the dungeon key so that the dungeon gate could be used and entered. This process required me to find people with Quirks that had a thematic relationship or certain characteristics with vampires.

If the two Quirks I chose matched what the system needed, then the dungeon gate would be successfully opened, and I could begin my adventure inside. However, if the Quirks I chose were not suitable or did not meet the system's criteria, then the dungeon gate would also not open, and I would have to find another, more appropriate Quirk combination. This system seemed to act as a gatekeeper, ensuring that only the right combination of Quirks could unlock access to the dungeon.

However, fortunately, I didn't need to worry about making mistakes in Quirk matching. The system provided the opportunity to try repeatedly until I finally found a suitable Quirk combination and successfully opened the dungeon gate.

This opportunity to try repeatedly gave certainty and peace of mind that I would eventually find the correct solution. With this confidence, I was ready to begin the hunt to find people with the right Quirks, people who had a connection to vampires, to open the door to my dungeon.

And that was the long and complicated reason why my two companions and I now had to be at a detective agency like this, at Mouri Shinichi's office. With an important mission that could affect my future and perhaps even the future of this world, I had to ensure that I obtained accurate and reliable information from anyone who possessed Quirk characteristics similar to the traits and habits of vampires.

My greatest hope was that this professional detective could help find the information I needed in a relatively faster and more efficient time, thanks to their professionalism and information network. I believed that with the help of a detective, this seemingly difficult mission would become easier and quicker to accomplish.

But, honestly, there was a slight worry nagging at the back of my mind. I wholeheartedly hoped that this detective did not possess the legendary aura of death like the main characters from the anime I often watched. I didn't want everyone who had contact with someone who requested his services to befall misfortune or even death. That would be ironic and counterproductive.

I truly wholeheartedly hoped that this Detective Mouri Shinichi was a competent, reliable professional, and most importantly, did not bring bad luck to his clients. I hoped that my prejudice would not be proven true, and that we could find a solution to our problem without further misfortune or tragic incidents. I just wanted to complete this mission safely and as soon as possible.

After a brief initial conversation, the three of us were invited to sit on a special guest sofa located in the corner of the office. The seating was very comfortable, soft and ergonomic, providing some relief from the tension and anxiety I had felt earlier.

We sat neatly and politely, waiting for Detective Mouri Shinichi to initiate a more serious conversation and discuss the purpose of our visit in more depth. This guest room was neatly and professionally arranged, with tall bookshelves filled with various books and documents, as well as a low coffee table in the center of the room adorned with a small flower vase that provided a fresh touch.

"So," Detective Mouri Shinichi began the conversation, breaking the silence that had arisen between us, "What exactly is the main purpose of you young people coming here?" he asked in a firm yet polite and inquisitive tone of voice. His sharp eyes stared at us one by one, as if trying to read our minds and true intentions.

"Detective," I replied calmly yet firmly, trying to hide the nervousness that still lingered, "I would like to entrust you with a missing person search commission. I want you to find people with characteristics as written on this piece of paper. I need detailed information regarding the residences and various habits these people engage in daily."

I answered while taking out an information file that I had prepared thoroughly from within my bag. With a careful movement, I handed the file to Detective Mouri Shinichi. The file contained a summary of information that I had collected over the past few days.

Detective Mouri Shinichi received the file from me with a graceful and professional gesture. He began to read it carefully and thoroughly, line by line, page by page. His face showed seriousness and high focus as he examined the various pieces of information that I had sorted and collected painstakingly before coming to his office.

He seemed completely focused on his work, demonstrating his professionalism as a reliable detective. Every wrinkle on his forehead, every movement of his eyes as he read, exuded an aura of intelligence and experience.

The information written in the file contained data on various people who possessed Quirks related to vampires. These details I compiled meticulously and systematically, collecting the most relevant and important data to facilitate the search process. I hoped that with this complete and structured information, Detective Mouri Shinichi would find it easier to conduct the investigation and find the people I was looking for.

Among the many pieces of information listed in the file, two names had the most detailed and complete information, namely Toga Himiko and Bubaigawara Jin. These names were the main keys in our search. I sincerely hoped that Detective Mouri Shinichi could help uncover their whereabouts as soon as possible. These two names were my biggest hope in completing this urgent dungeon mission.

Why did I specifically include their two names in the file I sorted? The reason was simple. Toga Himiko's Quirk had characteristics very similar to vampire habits, namely the need to drink blood. This unique and disturbing habit made her the primary target for the search commission I was about to entrust to Detective Mouri Shinichi.

Meanwhile, Bubaigawara Jin's Quirk, known as Twice, possessed the ability to create replicas of almost anything, both inanimate and living objects. At first glance, this ability might not have much direct relation to vampires.

However, if we have ever seen or read stories about vampires who can transform themselves into many bats, either to fly at night or to escape from their pursuers, there would be a slight similarity to Bubaigawara Jin's way of saving himself, which was by sacrificing his replicas.

This analogy, although not perfect, provided a slight illustration of the potential relevance of his ability to this vampire search mission. Perhaps, Bubaigawara Jin's ability had hidden aspects related to the vampire theme that I was not yet aware of.

Therefore, with careful consideration, I decided to include information about both Toga Himiko and Bubaigawara Jin in my file. The rest were unnamed files containing general information about people with Quirks that had themes or characteristics related to vampires, such as the ability to fly, the ability to turn into bats, extraordinary physical strength at night, and so on.

These additional files might not be as important as the two main names, but I hoped they could still provide useful clues or directions in the investigation that Detective Mouri Shinichi would conduct. Every clue, no matter how small, could be very valuable in this difficult and mysterious mission.
