Mash-Up Anime World: Adopted by the Sawamura Family

Chapter 5: 5. Inheriting the Family

"As the second son of the Spencer family, Spencer-san was free to live as he pleased while his older brother was still alive."

"He could marry a Japanese wife and settle in Japan."

"But when the heir of the family meets an untimely demise, the responsibility falls on the second son."

"He must return to inherit the family estate and uphold the noble lineage."

"For aristocrats, a title is more valuable than life itself."

"It takes precedence over everything."

"This is the fate of noble heirs."

"He must have been prepared for this."

"But doesn't Uncle Spencer already have Akira and Eriri?"

"Why would he need to remarry and have more children?"

Sena asked in confusion.

"Akira-kun may be outstanding, but he was adopted by Sayuri under the Sawamura name."

"He has no direct connection to the Spencer family."

"If Akira had grown up in the Spencer household, taken on the Spencer surname, and married a Spencer family descendant, he might have had a chance at inheriting the title."

"As for Eriri... do you think the Queen of England would grant the Spencer earldom to a girl who doesn't even speak English, who grew up in a foreign land?"

"If word got out, the honor and prestige associated with the title would crumble overnight."

"It would become a complete joke."

"And the most critical issue is that Eriri—or rather, Lady Sawamura's bloodline—is considered highly unqualified in the eyes of British nobility."

"They would be seen as part of the lowest caste, utterly unworthy of leading a noble house."

"Dad, I don't get it."

"A nobleman's wife needs to be strong and capable of bearing children."

"Tell me, how do you think Lady Sawamura and Eriri compare in terms of physique?"

"Pfft!"

Sena finally understood and couldn't help but laugh before quickly covering her mouth in guilt.

She silently apologized in her heart.

Aunt Sayuri was so kind—how could she have laughed at her?

"So Akira and Eriri are about to face a broken family situation?"

Sena's expression darkened as she murmured sympathetically.

"Yes."

"For now, you should give them space."

"Once they've had time to recover from this, invite them out to play."

"As a friend, help them work through it."

Kashiwazaki Tenma spoke as if instinctively giving his daughter advice—until he suddenly realized what he was saying.

He mentally slapped himself.

What the hell was he doing?!

Why was he helping that little bastard Akira?!

He should be using this chance to cut off all ties between him and Sena!

Instead, he had just given his daughter the perfect excuse to get even closer to him.

As Tenma stewed in regret, Sena solemnly responded:

"Dad, I understand."

"Akira is my best friend in the world. I will support him."

It was over.

It had escalated to "best friend in the world."

Sena, why are you falling so fast?!

Tenma sighed in defeat.

Meanwhile, the Sawamura family had returned to their home—a beautiful Western-style house in the heart of Tokyo.

"Akira, Eriri, your father and I bought a lot of fresh ingredients today."

"It's getting late, and the sun will set soon."

"Why don't we all cook together and have a candlelit dinner to celebrate?"

Hearing Sayuri's suggestion, Akira and Eriri exchanged glances, both sensing something off.

Even Eriri could tell that something about the atmosphere was different.

Normally, their family had a personal chef, and their parents rarely cooked themselves.

A full family-cooked meal like this was unheard of.

"Oh! Got it, Mom."

Eriri shot a glare at her annoying older brother, as if saying:

I'll let you off the hook for now... but I'll deal with you later.

Akira simply shrugged in response.

This tsundere little sister was too easy to tease.

She was just like the Eriri from his past life's memories.

Having never cooked before, Eriri looked completely lost, unsure of what to do.

Akira, on the other hand, was much more confident.

His knife skills alone made it clear that he knew his way around a kitchen.

"Akira, did you take cooking lessons while in China?"

Spencer looked baffled as he watched his son expertly julienne a bell pepper.

Wasn't he supposed to be training in swordsmanship?

"Dad, I wouldn't call it cooking lessons exactly."

"During my training in the mountains, I had to cook for myself."

"After doing it so often, I got pretty good at it."

Akira replied casually.

"Then, how strong is your swordsmanship now?"

"Can you beat your master, Busujima-sensei?"

Sayuri asked, intrigued.

"No idea, I've never tried."

"Busujima-sensei is one of Japan's most renowned sword masters."

"I'm still young—Mom, don't overestimate me."

Akira rolled his eyes.

"If I had known you had such a talent for martial arts earlier…"

"I should have kept you in Britain and had you trained as a knight under the Spencer family."

"My father scolded me recently for letting you go."

"He said I had no foresight."

Spencer sighed deeply, his face full of regret.

But that opportunity was long gone.

The world didn't offer second chances.

Akira's extraordinary talent was now widely recognized—both within the Spencer and Sawamura families.

Yet Spencer was the one getting scolded, while Sayuri was the one receiving praise.
