Chapter 4: 4. Divorce First, Marriage Later
"Sena, try saying a few sentences to Eriri in English."
Obediently, Sena immediately spoke in fluent English at lightning speed.
"EririwhereisyourhometownintheUKIfirstwenttotheUKformyspringvacationthenmyfathertookmetoChinaandfinallyIreturnedtoChinabyplanefromChina!"
Before Eriri could even process the words, Sena had already finished speaking.
A dazed and confused expression instinctively appeared on Eriri's face.
Sena, noticing this, had an outrageous thought flash through her mind.
But she wasn't entirely sure.
After all, it didn't match Eriri's background at all.
"Hahaha! Sena, you guessed right."
"Not only can Eriri not speak English, but she also barely understands it."
"She has consistently failed her English exams."
"Her grades are impressively stable."
Akira grinned as he exposed Eriri's embarrassing history.
Sena's lips slowly parted in shock.
No way.
Even the well-traveled Kashiwazaki Tenma had never encountered a case quite like Eriri's.
Japan's English curriculum was already ridiculously easy.
Yet, despite that, Eriri had somehow managed to consistently fail.
At this point, it was almost a talent.
If he remembered correctly, Spencer was a British aristocrat and a diplomat.
Diplomats were usually exceptional with languages.
Yet Eriri had inherited absolutely none of that ability.
"A-Akira! I'm going to kill you!"
Eriri completely froze, wanting nothing more than to disappear into a hole in the ground.
The fact that Sena, a fellow half-British girl, had found out about this was beyond humiliating.
She wanted to die.
Akira caught her mid-pounce, effortlessly wrapping his arms around his furious little sister.
"Well, what can I do? You refused to give me a hug earlier."
"As your brother, I had to use a little trick to get one."
"Pfft!"
Sena couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Which only infuriated Eriri even more.
"Eriri, enough fooling around."
"Hurry up and exchange contacts with Sena."
"We need to head home."
Sayuri, having already exchanged contact information with Sena, quickly urged them along.
"Sena, next time, come visit our house!"
"I'll have Akira and Eriri come pick you up."
"Mm! I will, Aunt Sayuri!"
Sena nodded firmly, waving happily.
Akira and Eriri reluctantly called a truce, adding Sena as a Line friend.
As they waved goodbye, Sena stood there watching the complete family of four walk away.
A look of longing flashed through her beautiful eyes.
She suddenly missed her mother in heaven.
"Dad, the Sawamura family is different from other aristocratic families in Japan."
"Their family feels… normal, like ours. Warm and happy."
"That's right."
"Both Spencer and Lady Sawamura are rarely intelligent people among the nobility."
"Though, if my guess is right, something is about to happen to their family."
"Dad, what do you mean?"
Sena grabbed her father's hand, looking up at him with concern.
"Did you forget our trip to your mother's family estate in Britain?"
"Remember what all those noble ladies kept gossiping about?"
Sena tilted her head in confusion.
She hadn't paid attention at all.
"The heir to the Spencer family—along with his entire family—was killed in a tragic car accident."
Sena's eyes widened in shock.
"D-Dad… you mean… Spencer uncle is…?"
"That's right. The deceased heir was Spencer's older brother."
"T-this is way too much of a coincidence!"
Sena was stunned by how events in distant Britain were now directly impacting Japan.
"This generation's Spencer Earl had only two sons."
"Sena, let me test you."
"What do you think this means?"
"Dad, do you think I'm stupid?"
"There's no need to 'test' me."
"Obviously, Uncle Spencer has to take his family back to Britain to inherit the title."
Sena answered matter-of-factly.
"Cough, cough!"
"Sena, if it were that simple, do you think I'd be asking you?"
"According to my sources, the current Spencer Earl is arranging a marriage for his son."
Tenma's tone turned odd as he shared this tidbit.
"Pfft!"
Sena almost choked.
"Dad, what are you even talking about?!"
"Uncle Spencer's wife is Aunt Sayuri!"
"Why would he be arranging a marriage?!"
"Sena, it's simple."
"All he has to do is get divorced first."
"There are always more solutions than problems in this world."
Sena's lips parted slightly as she stared at her father in utter disbelief.
"T-this can't be happening…"
She was completely shocked.
