Chapter 1: 1- Pilot
(3rd Pov)
(With some slight interjections from our favourite unnamed Watcher!)
(Excuse for me to interject like this. Shhh)
'So my life is going to shit.' Jayce thought to myself as he plummeted to his death.
SCREECH (Time freezes)
'Why don't we rewind just a tad bit?'
Time begins to flow in reverse, too fast for anyone to see anything as we suddenly find ourself looking upon a small, white soul floating in a bleak void.
Our new main character had been floating here for a very long time, untill a not so random ROB came by that is.
Oh yeah, for now you can refer to me as Al Maraqib, or Maraqib. It's Arabic for Watcher, and I promise there won't be too many Breaking the Fourth Wall moments! I swear it on my second heart!
Anyway, this particular ROB happened for be The Great Weaver, one of the many iterations of the Totem God of Spiders that dictated the lives of anyone with the mental strength to call themselves Spider-Man.
Taking pity on this lost and drifting soul, she landed it a fraction of a wisp of a wisp of her energy to allow it to regain consciousness.
"Hello, little one. What is your name?" She asked the soul.
Waking up from his endless slumber, Jayce was incredibly confused, but having read far too many light novels, he just ran with it. "Jayce, Ma'am... Might I ask this great one a name I could call her?"
The Weaver laughed in a melodious tone. "I am known by many as The Weaver, the one who granted all Spidermen their abilities. They are my Totems, and you shall be one too."
"...I'm getting reincarnated?"
"Transmigrated, actually. I find it much easier to make a new reality and plop you down into it."
'Doesn't make any sense, but I'll roll with it.' He thought. "Do I get wishes or whatever?" He asked The Weaver, who he couldn't see might I add. She had probably hidden her form to protect his mortal mind and just decided not to mention it. Not like he cared, he was getting reincarnated after all.
"Again, transmigrated. And if it's in my power and not simply outrageous, I'll permit it."
Mentally sighing in relief, Jayce was glad that he was allowed some cheats. "First of all, I want to be a genius just like any other iteration of Spider-Man. On top of that I want the ability to recover from injuries faster, an accelerated healing factor if you will. Ummm, the ability to produce small gadgets at the cost of vitality and on the condition that I have the design in my head. I don't want to be in a harem world, that's just annoying and I'm not a degenerate. And finally, I don't want to be Peter or Miles, but a separate person along side them."
"Hmm, quite the long list but you ateast have your head on straight, unlike the last one. I can grant all of those. Also, I wasn't going to grant the harem thing anyway, it's disgusting. " Weaver sounded like she was grimacing. "Well, good luck, spiderling."
"Hmm? What d-" His soul disappeared from that plane, shooting off to a new reality forming around him.
Unknowingly, even to herself, Weaver began to smile. "This is going to be interesting... I wonder if Bast wants to mess around in this new little sandbox..."
(Small ask if yall would mind whether or not I make like two other characters Transmigrators. If not that's fine.)
---
Jayce soon found himself inside a strange room. It was fairly large, shaped somewhat like a dome, having strange glass structures lined up on every possible surface and a ceiling of moving webs akin to a factory line.
Noticing something, Jayce leaned in closer to one of the glass boxes to find...Spiders. Suddenly he realized something. 'Wait. This room is that one place in Osc-'
"Ahh!" Slapping the back oh his neck because of a sudden pinch, Jayce pulled his hand back to find one of the said Spiders slowly dying in his hand.
"Of course it happens just when I cross over."
Before he could process anything, a crack in the world opened up behind him. A swirling portal that began to suck him into it.
"Of course, why did I expect anything else?" Jayce muttered under his breath, not even trying to resist.
Why? Because he recognized that type of portal.
And it wasn't long before he was spit out of the long ass tube onto a very tall building in the middle of the night in Times Square, a massive screen showing off a very unpleasant sight.
[Hero, Spider-Man Found Dead!]
"Yuuup. I'm in the spider verse...sigh, at least it's not the worst thing to happen. I can get some experience while I'm here." Jayce spoke to himself.
"Okay, we'll I need some webshooters and I don't suppose I can control myself well enough to climb down from here safely. So let's hope that a vague mental image is possible for now."
Focusing, Jayce imagined a pair of fully stocked webshooters from the insomniac games forming in his palms, and after a pregnant moment, he felt a scratching in his stomach. Jayce could feel his stomach emptying from whatever this body's previous inhabitants ate before this and quickly forming into a pair of decent looking gadgets.
Though, he couldn't do that again without finding something to eat or he'd starve himself.
~Rumble~
As if to reinforce that statement, his stomach growled in protest of his action. Patting his angry stomach, Jayce put on the webshooters before walking to the ledge, which was over an empty alley.
"Bite the bullet, Jay." Shooting a web at his feet, Jay closed his eyes tight before forcing himself to walk off the roof.
And so we find ourself right back where we started, our MC managing inside as he plummeted to what surely felt like his untimely second death. Luckily though, the webs held up as he felt a strong tugging at his shoulder, stopping his momentum.
Looking down, he found himself still above the ground, but much lower than originally. Repeating the process, just a little looser this time, Jayce soon found himself down on the ground, stomach still growling.
Patting his belly, Jayce muttered to himself as he looked out this world's streets. "Food first, saving the world second."
