Chapter 81: 078, Titan-kun? On the good way, a big drop is good! (d)

*[Week Two]*: The Airborne Division continued their fierce resistance.

[Using your trenches and underground tunnels to their fullest advantage, the various platoons managed to barely withstand the relentless bombardment of the Empire.]

[The Empire resorted to deploying more Kroot warriors, experts in close-quarters combat, to storm the trenches and even infiltrate the underground tunnels to engage you directly.]

[By now, most of the surface structures of the Factory have been reclaimed by squads equipped with battle suits.]

[Your platoon launched several assaults to retake the lost positions, but each attempt failed due to the lack of heavy weaponry.]

[When the platoon commander, who always led from the front, was critically wounded and on the brink of death, you stepped up and followed General Saikawa's orders, temporarily assuming command of the platoon.]

[You ordered your exhausted soldiers to rotate shifts for rest and conserve ammunition as much as possible.]

[Leading a small group of soldiers skilled in melee combat, you began patrolling the underground tunnels, fending off the Kroot warriors' unending attacks.]

*[Week Three]*: [With a blank expression, you swung your power sword, shattering the crude weapon of an enemy and easily severing their head.]

[The foul stench of blood splattered across your nearly shattered armor.]

[With your helmet lost in the previous battle, you wiped the blood off your face with a casual swipe of your hand and let out a heavy breath.]

[Recently, the T'au Empire seemed to have reduced the intensity of their assaults on the underground tunnels.]

[Cut off and surrounded, your unit has lost contact with the other platoons.]

[Now, your platoon has been reduced to just over 50 soldiers, heavily depleted.]

[While you managed to conserve some ammunition, all food supplies have been exhausted.]

[Everyone can only stave off hunger by drinking water.]

[Catching your breath, you glanced at the alien corpse beneath your feet before retreating quickly to the rear.]

[Back in a large, excavated tunnel, a pale-faced soldier approached you.]

["Commander, something isn't right…" he whispered into your ear.]

["What's going on? More Krut apes?" you asked, your face devoid of emotion.]

["Some squads had brief communication with T'au natives who speak Imperial Common… General Saikawa has been captured, and the other platoons have surrendered!" the soldier said, his expression hesitant, biting his lip.]

[You took a deep breath and fell silent.]

[After a moment of thought, you instructed the soldier to gather the entire platoon.]

[Before long, the remaining soldiers assembled before you.]

[Scanning their pale, familiar faces, worn thin by hunger, you asked, "Where's that bighead?"]

["Commander… just sacrificed herself," said a soldier with a missing arm, holding up his stump as tears glistened in his eyes.]

[You let out a sigh, dropping the power sword in your hand.]

["You already know the situation better than I do…" you began, your voice low after a moment of silence.]

["So, I won't stop anyone from surrendering. Based on what I know of the T'au, they would welcome you into the faith."]

["You might even gain more than the Human Empire ever offered—better food, a better way of life…"]

["But you will come to disdain, even hate, everything about the Human Empire. That's the price you might pay to survive."]

["Anyone choosing to leave, leave your weapons and ammunition for your comrades. For those staying, don't act rashly—this is their personal decision."]

[Picking up the discarded power sword, you turned and walked out of the tunnel without looking back.]

[Behind you, the soldiers exchanged silent glances, an uneasy tension filling the air.]

[In the end, 35 soldiers chose to stay.]

[You ordered the remaining troops to organize the remaining equipment and prepare for the final battle.]

*[Week Four]*: [Leading your malnourished soldiers, you charged out of the underground tunnels.]

[Just as you braced for the enemy's powerful firepower, a large swarm of mechanized drones arrived.]

[Scanning the surroundings, you noticed no signs of Titanium forces. Raising your hand, you signaled your soldiers to lower their guns.]

["Brave warriors of the Human Empire, lay down your arms. There's no need for a suicidal battle. Even your general has surrendered to the glorious Empire," came a peculiar voice speaking Imperial Common.]

[The drones projected countless ghostly blue beams of light, forming a towering holographic figure clad in ornate robes—a member of the ruling T'au Aether caste.]

[Facing the hologram, you remained expressionless as it continued:]

["If you surrender and join us, embracing the teachings of Shangshangdao, you will receive the boundless goodwill of the Titanium Empire. Together, our many races can strive for the future of the universe…"]

[The Aether raised its scepter, attempting to erode your will and compel your submission.]

[Before it could continue, you raised your power sword, cutting off its performance.]

["Have you ever encountered the Space Necrons? Been devoured by the Great Devourer? Faced the unruly Orks with their barbaric cries?" You leveled the blade at the hologram's head.]

["...You don't even understand the true nature of the Warp!"]

[A mocking smile played at the corner of your lips. "In this cold, dark universe, weakness and ignorance aren't the greatest threats to survival… arrogance is."]

[The Aether's hologram flickered, visibly unsettled, before abruptly vanishing.]

[The swarm of drones, however, did not attack. Instead, they retreated rapidly.]

[As your soldiers exchanged confused looks, a faint chuckle escaped you, sparking muted laughter among them.]

[But then, on the horizon miles away, missiles launched into the sky, streaking toward your position.]

[Watching their descent, you let out a resigned sigh.]

[Standing tall and solemn, you saluted your soldiers.]

["Comrades… see you in the next life!"]
