Chapter 295: Chapter 295: Yondu's Weapon
"We're done for! It's a Ravager ship—Yondu's here!" Quill exclaimed the moment he spotted the approaching vessel. Almost immediately, their ship was captured by the tractor beam, pulled inside, and the hatch mercilessly forced open.
A man with blue skin, clad in a leather jacket and sporting a red fin atop his head, stepped into view.
The leader of the Ravagers—Yondu Udonta.
"Well, Quill, I heard you caused quite a stir on Xandar. I hope you haven't forgotten to bring back the Orb of Power, considering I was the one who sent you to retrieve it."
Quill avoided Yondu's gaze, clearly feeling guilty. The Orb had indeed been meant for Yondu, but Quill had taken it for himself, planning to sell it. Now that Yondu had caught up to him, the consequences were inevitable.
Alan, observing the situation, remembered Yondu's legendary weapon: the self-propelling Yaka Arrow, controlled with an effortless whistle. Alan had always been curious to see it in action and hoped he might even get a chance to study it.
"Uh… the Orb isn't with me," Quill stammered.
Yondu strolled over slowly, pressing Quill against the wall. "Then where is it?"
At that moment, Alan spoke up, his tone calm. "The Orb was destroyed in Ronan's explosion."
Hearing the unfamiliar voice, Yondu turned his attention to the others on the ship, only now noticing just how many people were there. He chuckled lightly. "Quill, looks like you've made some new friends. Why don't you all come aboard the Ravager ship? Bring your buddies along."
Yondu turned and walked away. The Ravager ship was massive, capable of housing hundreds of people. Alan and the others were led to a large hall filled with Ravager crew members, all eyeing the newcomers curiously.
"Quill, over here!" Yondu called from the far end. Quill reluctantly made his way over, Alan following closely.
"You didn't bring back the Orb, Quill. That's betrayal," Yondu said, his voice sharp. At his signal, several Ravagers stepped forward, surrounding Alan and the group.
"I hope you won't mind if I lock up your friends for a while—just until you've made amends," Yondu continued with a smirk.
Quill glared at him. "Let them go!"
The Ravagers began advancing to subdue Alan and his companions, but Alan calmly placed his belt around his waist. In an instant, the Emperor Armor enveloped him. With a single motion, he pushed the Ravagers away, sending them sprawling.
"You're the Emperor?" one of the Ravagers gasped, recognizing Alan.
Yondu turned, gesturing for his crew to stand down. "You're really the Emperor?" he asked, studying Alan intently.
Alan didn't answer, instead positioning himself protectively in front of his group. Yondu, noticing this gesture and the distinct armor, was convinced of his identity.
"Well, if you're the Emperor, then we're all friends here! That was just a little misunderstanding!" Yondu said with a nervous laugh. He had heard of the Emperor's power on Xandar and knew that provoking him would be disastrous—even for a ship full of Ravagers.
Alan deactivated his armor. He knew Yondu's reputation: though he appeared to be a villain and had done his share of questionable things, it was all for survival. Deep down, Yondu cared for Quill like his own son, even sacrificing himself to save him in the end.
"Yondu, I've heard about you too," Alan said with a smile. "I was wondering… could I borrow your Yaka Arrow to take a look at it?"
