Marvel: The Sorcerer in America

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Transformation of Sin

His eyes grew even more intense, staring at the magical fan with reverence, as if he was trying to absorb every bit of knowledge contained within it. "I've spent most of my life searching, and I finally found a magical book that I could understand. Even though the book didn't teach me how to wield magic, at least it gave me incredible knowledge about hybrids."

"Hybrids?" Lance immediately glanced at the "monster" lying on the ground, his sharp eyes assessing the increasingly perplexing situation.

With an impatient expression, Lance pulled out the magical fan and slapped the monster's forehead with a loud thud. The irritating scream that had been heard before vanished instantly, as if it had been wiped away by the power of the fan.

The magical fan opened with a soft "whoosh," and yellow energy surged from it, followed by brilliant sparks of fire that vibrated through the air, as if the very world around them was being affected by the force of the fan.

Lance then pointed at the surgeon who stood not far from him, his eyes demanding an answer. "Now, continue!"

The responsible surgeon licked his lips, a smile curling at the corner of his eyes, which held a slightly fierce gleam, reflecting a pleasure that could not be hidden. "It's very simple. I use my old profession – as a surgeon – to enhance a few humans..."

With a calm but confident movement, the man then patted the small boy lying on the hospital bed. The man's smile twisted into a low grin, like a predator plotting its next move. "I will change these children, alter their appearances, enhance their physiques, and turn them into creatures from myths and legends – winged angels and feathered beings, demons with goat horns and mermaid tails... The children who have been 'enhanced' through this operation will be sold as mercenaries if they're lucky, and as slaves if they're not. Oh, and for some of the morally corrupt rich bastards in this world, they could become cool pets."

Lance's eyes narrowed, a cold glint flashing across them. "So, this is how the Southern Front gets involved with what they call great power?" Lance asked, his voice growing heavier. "You don't have a magical constitution, you can't learn magic, and you can't read magic books normally. Ordinary magic books don't teach things like this to people without magical talent – so, what kind of magic book did you find?"

The surgeon stared at Lance for a long time, his eyes sharp and full of mystery. Then, suddenly, he sneered in a theatrical manner, looking at Lance with a wicked curiosity. "Do you want to see my 'work'?"

With a quick motion, the man's hand descended and pressed down on the operating table beside him, the loud clatter of metal echoing, creating a tense atmosphere.

*Click!!*

The wall at the far end of the "operating room" cracked, the sound of the cracking like a growl from a trapped creature, and it slowly opened to the left and right. The hidden door revealed a dark underground room, filled with terrifying shadows.

A foul stench emanated from within, filling the air with a nauseating odor that stung the nose.

"Huhahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!" The eerie laughter echoed in the underground room, shattering the silence. "My dear children, help your father destroy this wizard!!" The surgeon's voice rang out with enthusiasm, like a conductor leading an orchestra.

Following the sound of heavy and light footsteps, a group of "monsters" began to appear, grinning with expressions full of hatred and madness. They moved with an unexpected speed, as if they had been waiting for this moment for a long time.

A small child with goat horns protruding from their head, their gaze full of cruelty.

A little girl whose lower body had turned into tentacle-like forms, gliding quickly across the floor.

A large boy, the size of an adult, with sharp claws protruding from the tips of his fingers, slashing the air viciously.

A large girl with hands like mantis blades, her mouth filled with sharp teeth capable of biting through anything in an instant...

If they were called monsters from myths and legends, few would doubt it.

As the head surgeon had said before, their transformation was not only in appearance but their physiques were far stronger than ordinary humans. Every movement they made demonstrated terrifying power, and despite looking like children, they carried deadly threats.

Being surrounded by such a group of "monsters" would undoubtedly be difficult to face, even for a mid-level wizard.

However, Lance was not a low-level wizard.

Lance wasted no time. With incredible speed, he immediately kicked the pistol lying at his feet and struck the goat-horned boy's head with a decisive blow.

The child fell to the ground with a loud thud, causing several other "monsters" to stumble and nearly fall.

Lance didn't give them time to recover. With swift precision, he flicked his wrist.

The beautiful magical fan spun through the air, drawing a mesmerizing arc before striking a large boy who resembled a young tiger with sharp fangs. The fan ricocheted with incredible speed, flying through a burst of sparks, hitting the back of another small child, and bouncing onto the next body. If Captain America had seen this scene, Steve would have applauded Lance with both hands—this was even better than Shield Mastery.

However, while the results looked dramatic, the reality was far less perfect.

The magical fan's power was not to be underestimated. Yet, to bring down a group of physically modified monster children, its force only managed to make them tumble a few times on the ground before they stood back up, grinning as if nothing had happened.

Seeing this, Lance felt a deep headache coming on.

After all, they were just unfortunate children who had been modified, not actual monsters. Even though they were dangerous, Lance couldn't bring himself to kill them without feeling a pang of guilt.

But if Lance was too cautious or soft, it seemed nothing would change. They had clearly become something inhuman, and underestimating them would only lead to failure.

Lance sighed, deciding not to let his emotions control him. *Forget it.* He would bind them first with the *Rings of Raggadorr* and then search for the cursed spellbook to find a way to restore them to their original forms… hopefully, such a way existed.
