C-2018, startled by the piercing screams behind him, quickly turned around.

To his horror, a massive sea of flames had erupted out of nowhere, engulfing everything in sight.

The abusive man was trapped in the inferno, his entire body consumed by fire. He thrashed wildly, letting out agonizing screams as he was burned alive.

His limbs flailed frantically as he ran toward the door.

C-2018 instinctively stepped aside, but the burning man passed through him like a ghost.

The man desperately clawed at the door handle, trying to escape, but no matter how hard he pulled, the door refused to budge. He screamed hysterically, banging on the door with all his might.

Then, his eyes widened in sheer terror.

His back pressed against the door as he stared at something behind him, his pupils trembling violently.

C-2018 followed his gaze.

The woman—now a vengeful spirit—was walking toward them, holding her child's hand.

Her face was filled with unrelenting hatred.

There was no humanity left in her gaze, only pure malice.

Anyone who met her eyes would feel an unbearable chill run down their spine.

The next second—

C-2018 suddenly felt an unbearable heat engulf his entire body.

He looked down in horror—he was on fire!

"AAAAAHHHHH!!!"

This wasn't an illusion. It was real.

The flames devoured him instantly. He slapped at his burning body, desperately trying to extinguish the fire.

But no matter what he did, the flames only grew stronger, consuming him entirely.

"AAAAHHHH!!!"

The searing agony was unbearable. His flesh charred, his body twisted in torment.

The vengeful spirit and her child slowly approached, watching his suffering with cold amusement.

"AAAAAHHHHH!!"

Knowing there was no escape, C-2018 aimed his rifle at the ghost and opened fire.

Bullets tore through her—

But they did nothing.

The rounds simply phased through her as if she weren't there.

Elsewhere in the mansion, another special forces member was desperately running through a stairwell.

After getting separated from his squad, he had unknowingly ended up back at the stairs.

That's when he saw it—the ghostly woman, crawling unnaturally, chasing after him.

He had no choice but to run upward.

But something was wrong.

From the outside, the mansion had only two floors.

Yet inside, there were endless staircases spiraling upward.

All the rooms had vanished.

Now, he was trapped in an infinite stairwell. Going up was useless. Going down was impossible.

"C-2278 here! Can anyone hear me?!"

Frantic, he screamed into his radio, praying for a response.

At this moment, the only thing that could bring him comfort was the voice of his comrades.

But no matter how many times he called out, only static answered him.

"Haah… Haah… DAMN IT! Where the hell am I?!"

C-2278 roared in frustration, trying to vent his fear.

He was terrified. His breathing became erratic. His heart pounded as if something was squeezing it tight, suffocating him.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Suddenly, he heard something above him.

Something was coming down.

Terrified, he raised his rifle and pointed it upward.

Then, he saw her.

The ghostly woman crawled down the stairs in an unnatural manner, her long black hair covering her face, her glowing black eyes filled with hate.

Even from a distance, her gaze felt like it could drag him straight to hell.

"AAAAAHHHH!!!"

C-2278 completely lost his composure.

He spun around and bolted down the stairs.

But something was wrong.

Even though he had climbed only a few steps earlier, he now found himself running down an endless staircase.

No matter how far he ran, the bottom never appeared.

The stairwell seemed to stretch infinitely.

"AAAAAHHHH!!"

Between the endless stairs and the ghost chasing him, his mind shattered.

All he could do was run.

Then, his blood turned cold.

Another ghost had appeared below him.

It twisted and crawled up the stairs, heading straight toward him.

C-2278 skidded to a stop, turning around only to see the first ghost much closer than before.

He was trapped.

There was nowhere to run.

"AAAAAHHH!!"

Realizing he had no options left, C-2278 clenched his teeth and threw himself over the stair railing—

Plummeting into the abyss below.

As he fell, he could only stare at the surrounding darkness.

The stairwell continued to stretch upward, endlessly.

He had no idea where he would land.

"I… Where the hell am I falling to?!"

Tears streamed down his face as he plummeted further.

Then—

Black strands of hair suddenly shot down from above.

Before he could react, they wove together and formed a noose—

Which snapped around his neck.

Thwack!

His descent stopped instantly.

C-2278 dangled in midair, the rope strangling the life out of him.

He gasped, struggling desperately to free himself.

But no matter how hard he clawed at the rope, it only tightened further.

His consciousness began to fade.

Then—

He realized something.

He was no longer in the stairwell.

He was in a room.

A normal room.

But the noose still hung him in place.

His body jerked as he struggled, his life slipping away.

Desperate, he turned his head, searching for help—

And then, he saw them.

Four special forces members walking past the doorway.

At first, hope surged in his chest.

He thought reinforcements had arrived.

But then, his eyes landed on one of them.

A man who had his exact face.

A horrifying realization struck him.

He was back in the past—back in the moment when his team had first encountered the ghostly child and entered this room.

Except now, he was the one hanging from the noose.

C-2278's eyes widened in despair.

Then, as he struggled to lift his head, he saw something.

The vengeful spirit was perched on the ceiling—

Watching him.

Her pale face and inhuman black eyes stared down at him with pure malice.

On the bed, the naked little boy bounced a severed head in his hands, giggling as if he were playing with a toy.

C-2278's mind collapsed.

Even if he shut his eyes, her image was burned into his brain.

Then—

The scene shifted.

Throughout the haunted mansion, countless spirits appeared.

They roamed the halls aimlessly, their faces streaked with bloody tears.

Among them, twelve figures stood out.

Twelve souls—

The twelve special forces members who had entered this place.

Even in death, their spirits were trapped here, doomed to wander this cursed house forever.
